Dare I say that this is a bit better than '91? Still not up to par with the 70's and early 80's polls, but at least there are a few decent choices.

Most of these can be out into the 'forgettable' file. I'll just comment on the ones that aren't....

Tears in Heaven was a nice song because it was written for his son who died. I always liked that one. Jump was a fun song and very big in the clubs I was Djing at in the early 90's.

To me, there are three songs that I really like and would consider for my vote.

Under the Bridge was the song that introduced the mainstream to the RHCP. It was one of those songs that I heard and immediately went out and bought the CD. Still holds up today, too.

Baby Got Back is the most icomic of this group. Everyone, young and old, knows this one. Probably one of the top five all-time best-known rap songs.

But my vote goes to Jon Secada. Just Another Day gets an immediate "turn up" when it comes on. Awesome bassline and drum beat. Probably not the best song from this group, but definitely my favorite.

RHCP will win easily, and maybe it should.

But his baby jumped out of a high rise window. And he wrote a song about it. Thus I voted for him.

This should be a blow out in RHCP favor. Definitely one of my all time favorite ballads. Jump and Eric Clapton are tied for second.

There are many really good songs not listed

November Rain » Guns N' Roses

Life Is A Highway » Tom Cochrane

Jump Around » House Of Pain

Smells Like Teen Spirit » Nirvana ----------- this song out of the top 10 is criminal

It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday » Boyz II Men

Bohemian Rhapsody » Queen

Friday I'm In Love » Cure

Voted Under The Bridge.

DO NOT vote for that Clapton crap. Pushed his kid out the window in a deal with the Devil for a hit record long after he deserved one.

But that's pretty f-ing rock and roll of him, no?

Had he still been on heroin, yes. Bit this was the desperate act of a quitter.

Solid counter punch. Heroin would have in fact made it sex, drugs, and rock&roll.

RHCP should win. I'll change my vote.

RHCP will one...but IMO that was one of their songs I just don't like.

The rest of that album was great (then they also went totally downhill from their...everything they have put out since I really really can't stand)

Agreed. Voted for En Vogue; distinct sound that still gets my head bopping. Well, both heads.

Also, this list is atrocious, as was the last one. This was the period right after I graduated college (89) and, while I remember going to dance clubs and some of the related music, in general I don't think I listened to the radio much and I don't have a strong memory of the music. Now I know why; it was really really bad. :(

They rereleased it as a single because of its appearance in Wayne's World.

Would have had a hard time deciding between these two, both are better than anything in the top ten. From a songwriting standpoint, One is possibly the best songs ever written and Jump Around is just awesome. Still.

No wonder why I loved "alternative" music in the 90's.

I voted Eric Clapton. The Vanessa Williams song was good though nothing near what should be top ten material. Still, it was the only other thing I may have voted for other than Tears in Heaven.

This decade royally sucks but I'm happy so far that even though there are now tons of stinker on the list, thus far I haven't yet had to choose one. I've (still) voted for good songs in each of these polls, but I know the '90s so I wonder how long that can last until we get lists full of nothing but awful.

I am greatly disappointed that nothing from Achtung Baby (U2) made it in the top 10. I voted RHCP, but I would have gone with a handful of those U2 songs over this one.

Any rock fans, I might as well let you know...Under The Bridge is the only good option you will get for the entire decade on this thing.

Ah, yes. Wow, what one 2 minute scene from a movie will do for ya!

I guess it's not for everyone and I'm sure that they've been overplayed. However, I can't get enough of 80s/90s U2.

I'm an old fart, but IMO War and Unforgettable Fire were U2's high points. Joshua Tree was the beginning of the end: Bullet the Blue Sky is the only song I love; With or Without You, I Still Haven't Found, and Where The Streets Have No Name all kinda sound the same. Rattle and Hum was a fun compendium I suppose. On Achtung Baby, Mysterious Ways is the only song I really like.

War was really outstanding. I liked Joshua Tree, but I absolutely love Achtung Baby. They totally changed their sound up from their previous efforts and I like every song.
