Anyone else think McKinnon can steal the job this weekend?

Recommended Posts

Don't do that man. Just don't.

AS soon as you bench McCoy, that's when he'll go off.

well he isnt going to go off if I play him :dunno:

somebody has to take it on the chin for the rest of the McCoy owners :wall:

I too had to drop McKinnon in order to pick up Ingram. I already own one back up in Jeremy Hill. There are only so many you can stash when your only allowed 16 players and 9 start.

Most Importantly

Jerick McKinnon rushed 11 times for 40 yards and caught six passes for 42 yards against the Lions Week 6.

McKinnon out-touched Matt Asiata 17-3 and dominated the running back snaps all game. McKinnon made several nice blocks in blitz pickup, and stayed on the field even when the Vikings went into hurry up mode. It was only one game, but it appears McKinnon has become the starting running back in Minnesota. He is still just a RB3/FLEX, but has the talent to develop into a every-week starting option this season.

11-40 granted it was a loss. Soon as Asiata is back he's vulturing carries especially at the goal line...

It appeared that McKinnon was exclusive back did asiata get hurt? Funny both my leagues McKinnon got cut

I am a McKinnon owner, but am not too impressed. The term "freak athlete" is getting tossed around too much these days and being applied to guys like ASJ and McKinnon. I also saw some metric that rated McKinnon's athletic prowess as if he was Jim Thorpe or Bo Jackson. He clearly isn't a "freak."

Maybe he wins a crossfit competition or American Ninja Warrior, but his in-game ability is far from freakish.

This can't be possible. The guys in here specifically stated that Asiata is the better player. I am really confused right now.

Pretty sure asiata was hurt but McKinnon sure didn't show any freakish talent getting a full workload

Haha...right. So does that mean I am not a 'bad judge of talent'? Whew...I was worried for a while.

My frustration lies with the fact that even a suggestion that Mack showed talent as a runner was dismissed with idiocy, and the offending person was considered a "homer" just pumping his own players. Yet, the Asiata owners were often times the ones driving this thread into repetition of the conversations that were taking place.

Can we stop this nonsense already? They both suck and their team sucks. The Asian has a nose for the end zone and McKinnon has a little more yardage upside.

Keep the love fest going! This needs a 12 page thread.

What a shame. The offense stumbled though. Back to Asiata next week.

Doubt it. Detroit has a good D. I expect McKinnon to continue starting.

I guess I was wrong. I am staying away from this mess. I don't want either one on my team anymore as McKinnon is FA in both my leagues

Wasn't McKinnons fault... Had 82 yards on 17 touches against a solid detroit line. He also picked up multiple blitzes. A nice job from a guy just learning the position... A fact most overlook.

Asiata on the other hand had negative yards rushing on 2 carries and was the reason for an interception on 1 of his 2 targets.

Not saying JM is the second coming of AP but his upside is much higher than asiata could ever dream of! It'll be interesting to see if he continues to draw the starts and dominate the touches as he did yesterday! Although Lions and Bills in your first 2 career starts isn't the best way to make a splash (lions and bills dominating defenses???? Just doesn't sound right!?!)

McKinnon is now the starting RB in a Norv Turner offense. I will take it and all the positive stuff said about Asiata's situation in this thread can now be applied to McKinnon, plus add extra talent.

I'm waffling here too. Carlos Hyde is sitting on my bench doing nothing and with Gore doing what Gore does, that gamble looks like a loss. I can pick up McKinnon right now for free in exchange for Hyde. If he's got the starting job, he's better than some of my flex WR options. Might be worth the pickup given I have 2 flex spots to fill on a weekly basis.

I would have to agree. McKinnon was dropped in both my leagues last week I will cut asiata in both and pick him up. Of I don't get him I cut asiata and wipe my hands. It's not a good offense to own a back splitting time unless they play Atlanta.

I agree as well, I doubt he's startable absent major RB2 problems. Bridgewater was awful, they were lucky to get the 3. One thing I will say though is there should be a fair number of receptions and that game, which was terrible, might have actually reflected McKinnon's floor.

What is he worth? Already have people asking about him. People are desperate this year with RBS and Mack looks like he should see 15 touches a game.

I'm in need of an upgrade for Roddy so hopefully he is my ticket.

Yeah. I planned for that. That's why I needed the Hunter throw in. Let's just hope Calvin can come back healthy because I really think Mack has a chance to be a weekly starter with some nice matchups upcoming. He might make me look stupid.

murf74 is a terribly biased and not worth reading. if mack, or asiata, was avail anytime after week 4 your in a cup cake league.

both are are still solid values.

i'd be super happy with the CJ trade if i was confident in making the playoffs, otherwise its a huge risk dealing with a high ankle sprain

I think McKinnon is still available in a decent amount of leagues.

I guess they're both worth owning at this point, but I'm probably going to agree with the Jacksonville North comment.

Oh god help me, I'm on team McKinnon now, I somehow scooped him off the WW even though I was picking up last.

Great, RBBC time.

(11:14 am ET) Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told reporters he'd like to get running back Matt Asiata more touches and running back Jerick McKinnon fewer touches than last week, reports WGR in Buffalo. Asiata got three touches to McKinnon's 17 in the home loss to Detroit.

That . Why couldn't he have said this before WW pickups?
