Charleston SC Church Shooting

Recommended Posts

How does he know that? Do we know yet how he got his gun? Maybe he's tried for months and just now got one. (i.e. he did have problems) I mean, I'm 100% for gun control but until we know specifics of this situation I don't see how we can make definative statements is all. :dunno:

I'm making a definitive statement and I will stand by it. It's too easy to buy a gun in a lot of states.

He got his gun from his dad for his birthday 21

A rite of passage.

My first .22 when I was 10, then my 30-06 when I was 13, and then bought my Garand later after I turned 21. Good memories.

He doesn't... He is making assumptions again...

Fox News is spinning this as an 'attack on faith'

LOL..... my liberal buddies are getting a good laugh out of it... Guy went in saying he wanted to kill black people

This was meant to discourage people from pretending to be black.

They should make the shooter an honorary cop.

The fact that guns are too easy to get is no assumption.

But we don't know how he got this gun... He might have stole it from a family member or he went through proper channels and acquired it correctly...

Maybe. But guns are still too easy to get.

Wow. Another classless cheap shot. Not surprising

Classless how? If some mystery man would have walked in and gave all the poor parishioners a million dollars each, the people would have been saying that it was a miracle from God. Does he only control good things?

When horrible things happen to good people, it's when my faith in God wavers the most. Just can't see how He could let this happen.

Tell that to the family of Carol Bowne.

A New Jersey woman was murdered by her ex-boyfriend on Wednesday as she waited for approval from the state to buy a handgun. In addition to obtaining a restraining order against her ex, Michael Eitel, and installing security cameras in her home, Carol Bowne had applied for a permit to purchase a handgun on April 21.

Gotta agree with you here newbie. I guess god didn't have a plan or purpose for these people. I thought to religious people god has a plan for everyone :dunno:. I guess his plan for these individuals was to be murdered in cold blood. Or is it only when good things happen to people that god is in play?

You are making fun of people's faith during a dark time. Classless.

I'll be sure not to say anything directly top their next of kin.

And faith is allowed to be questioned. That's the country I'm from. I would just hope that God wouldn't choose a church as the place my life will end. And in a bloody, violent manner. Would make me wonder why I dedicated my life to him.

Time and a place for everything. Of course religions role in society should, no must be questioned when its role is excessive. But you are demeaning the deaths of people by insinuating that their faith is suspect because they were slaughtered. Some people, possibly in that church, don't believe that God has a reason for everything. When I go to church I have no such thoughts. I actually question God for much of the unnecessary suffering in the world. I would hate to think that my, or my loved ones lives would be treated with such dismissivness as you have done here, branding everyone with the same degree of beliefs as all people that practice religion.

I'm questioning how God can let stuff like this happen to people while they are worshipping him./ I sure as hell am not being dismissive of their lives. That's a helluva reach to make, although I know you're trying desperately to make a point. I'd feel bad for anyone who dies at the hands of a lunatic. Whether they were at church or at Arbys.

Okay, just reading more about this, the people killed.

I'm not all that big on the death penalty, but lets just string this dude up by his balls and skin him alive.

So, can we consolidate this down a little and get back to the topic at hand:

- Neo-Nazi's are bad people filled with hate

- Guns in the wrong hands is a really bad idea

- Religion was not really part of the mix, but some folks are going to use it to further their agenda

- Tragedy that 9 people died

Oh, and for those who thought you could have seen it coming, don't forget that they don't post pictures of him smiling and holding a kitty. They pick the ones that make him look menacing.

Have you been to the Geek Club? Treating tragic events with casual dismissiveness is what we do. The fact that you believe in Cloud Man doesn't make you special.

Seems like if its classless to bring up one in tragedy, then its classless to bring up the other as well.

I disagree. The people who were slaughtered weren't the problem. Gun regulations are.

Notice how there are no riots or looting going on in SC. Just prayer vigils and a memorial fund being set up to remember the victims. Al Sharpton saying he is going down there and a lot of the AA community speaking out saying they don't want him there because he stirs up trouble.
