4:03 Let Her Cry - Hootie and the Blowfish

Backstory on this... in the mid 90s I was visiting my in-laws in South Carolina over New Years; they had a local NYE show on TV (Charleston I think) and this band I had never heard of called Hootie.and the Blowfish performed. I was mesmerized, I hadn't heard a voice quite like that before. The rest is history.

Adding the video...

My favorite tune on that record. Now very California friendly though...

Thanks for adding video.

from what I am seeing is that you guys that were hardcore in the 70's and 80's sure like a bunch of weak sauce in the 90's

I was into the weak in the 80's, Smiths, Cure, Depeche, Thompson Twins, but then the 90's hit and I was hard

Wait, what? Tool, NIN, RATM aren't hard enough for you? Please educate us with your picks.

My picks, GNR, NIN, Pennywise, Pumpkins

I am just busting some chops though

might as well pick some Celine and Janet

as far as Tool, once it was picked, everyone piled on they are one of my favs, but the love is getting over the top

Candlebox should not in same category as DM and Hootie.

Candlebox is pretty weak imo, whiny stuff, but yah like Ive said my zone was punk anyways

sadly most of the stuff I love, people won't know anyways, so I have to pick some known stuff

You think Candlebox is whiny stuff, yet you want to go punk?

I'll out punk you any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

In fact, you and I should have a punk-off in a different thread

1.01 Subhumans - Cradle to the Grave

Well, not really, but pretty close :D

see thats what I was hoping to get from you, Sux, I know you are the only other sure Punk guy, and you went MC Hammer, I was disappointed

we are a small genre, we need to represent. I just have always thought Candlebox was weak just personal, like I said I listened to pansy stuff in the 80's.

I mean really, its not even punk but I feel like as far as I can go is Soc D, maybe BR, but not getting deep into punk

Most of the music I listened to was like Buck 'o' Nine, Rocket from the Crypt, Pennywise, Rancid, Burning Souls, Lit, MXPX, Vandals, doubt many make the list

Part of the reason I went with MC Hammer is because I still love that song.

The reason I went with Candlebox is because, well, I love that song.

Granted, we are a small genre. MDC is one of us, as weird as it might seem :ninja:

What a lot of people here don't know / understand about punk is how incredible some of the lyrics were given each bands time base.

While today I laugh at some of Biarfas lyrics, I can still rock the fock out to them knowing that back then, it was my gospel. Meh...fock the "knowing back then" part...Dude was a damn genius with lyrics and song flow :headbanger:

So many great punk songs from the 70s to 90s

Yes, as the bestest vert skater in ElDorado county, CA in the mid 80s to early 90s I loved me some skate punk, too :pointstosky:

I love this entire concert but this is my favourite song from. Would have been a hell of a show to attend.

4:12 Dave Matthews - Ants Marching

Fock the haters. Good to see someone taking a DMB song

I respect punk. During the Disco years when a producer would throw a back beat behind something like the theme to the Brady Bunch and release it, punk put the music back into the hands of the musicians. God bless punk.

Awesome, thank you so much for your opinion! What is your draft position again, kunt?

This from a guy that really should change the last 4 letters in his name to unty.

Most godawful, overly affected voice in history.

To each their own. Surprised it took someone this long to bash him to be honest.

Ive seen DMB in concert a few times. Always had a good time and thought they put on a good show :dunno:

I respect what they did as musicians, but his voice is nails on a chalkboard to me. Hes not the only wildly popular artist whose voice is vomit inducing for me. Just one of those things.

You know what, I was planning a Dave Matthews themed dance off party and thought I'd invite some Michigan Geeks. You're officially off the list. I was gonna have snacks too, so suck it.

I already stated from the get go I was picking 2 songs outside of my normal genre.

Memphis and Black Velvet. Turns out Black Velvet was released 12/17/1989
