Kentucky Derby 2019 - Omaha Beach Scratched!

Now that my original pick (Game Winner) is the favorite following Omaha's scratch, I've dumped him in search of value. After some soul searching .... my farm is riding on #7 Maximum Security.  And my chicken coop is riding on #6 Vekoma.

If they come 1st and 2nd, I'm going to Sizzler!

This is bullsh*t!  Live odds show Maximum Security is now the favorite at 4.5:1 and my original pick - Game Winner is now 6:1.

Already bought my tickets. Maximum Security was 10:1 yesterday. The son of b*tch better win or die trying.

If you are betting on the odds you should bet as close to post time as you can. The odds will change and you may change your mind.

Opps! Rookie mistake.

Maximum Security looks interesting.  Has won all 4 of his races easily.  Owns the 2nd best speed figure (tie) in the race and got that speed figure in an 11 horse field without exerting much energy.  Also seems to get better with added distance.  He might be the favorite at post time.

I tried to help.

I have By My Standards and Tacitus on top in a bunch of exacta and trifecta tickets.  MS on top in a few also.  Good luck.

I did a crossword puzzle recently, the theme of which was a quote by WC Fields.  To paraphrase:  "Horse sense" is that thing horses have which make them not bet on people.

I mean, I get that it is fun to have a little cha-ching on a rooting interest, but seriously people, you are betting on an animal.

Texas is backwards in all things, including betting. We are one of 9 States where it is illegal to bet online.

I did enjoy reading geeks text about horses and betting, so from an admitted lack of knowledge and skill, I put  an imaginary $50 on Maximum Security, for the win, and a Maximum Security, Vekoma, Win Win Win trifecta at $50.

There is a local horse race track where you can place a legal KD bet. I will probably go there in the future.

I am sure there are apps and work-arounds to bet online, but it is not worth the scramble to me.

Good luck to real geek betting peeps. I hope you kill it.

Arizona is similar although I haven't overly looked into it; something driven by the tribal casino lobby.  We can't do daily fantasy here for instance.  Probably just as well, as I don't need another vice.  :D

I'm told a workaround is to use a credit card which goes to an address in a state which allows online gambling.

BTW, this track is a mess, and I think I just saw Von Miller in a Ru Paul outfit.

I saw Von. 😁

The people placing late bets are going to be looking for a mudder. Too bad.

Has anyone seen Bob Baffert and Rick Flair at the same time?  :dunno:

I want to fock a cougar in a stupidly big hat.  I'll put it on my bucket list, I'm sure my wife won't mind.  :o

If I were a female horse I would totally let Vekoma fock me, that is one handsome horse.  That's my pick.

I’d split it across the bored.

Looked like CoH had a burst of speed at the end but got pinched between two horses :(

Wayne Gretzky missed 100% of the shots he didn’t take.  He had a shot, just got pinched.

Hopefully we get lawsuits that hold up the decision in the courts for years. It would fit the USA circa 2019.

Pinched?  Don't want to be pinched?  Be in front.  This is stupid.

Lot of money on the line. The number two horse is 65 to 1. Could get bumped to winning horse.

Is there anything that replay doesn’t ruin?

You could clearly see maximum risk move back and to the left.

Back and to the left.

Well, one thing is that Woodford Reserve won the marketing race.  Funny, if I get off of my ass I plan to head to Total Wine and restock my stock/bourbon stash.  I'm going to go with Woodford Rye for my manhattans.

Right call, Maximum Security pushed out nearly 4 lanes, Country House might have been bumped by the horse to his inside, but he was pushed out at least 2 lanes.   Surprised the call took so long to make.

Why were there so many Navy and Marine people there?  Is there a significant ocean presence in Kentucky?  :dunno:

How is that the first time they waved the black flag in the KD? Seems like that rubbin’ stuff would be more common.

Surprised the call took so long to make.

Silly take, it's never happened before, they obviously want to get it right.
