Disney going full liberal retard: make Ariel black in Little Mermaid remake

Recommended Posts

At this point, black people are over represented in American media. They are only 13% of the population and probably 50%-60% of the media. Ghetto a$$ rap litters the billboard charts. Every single movie that is being remade with black characters who were originally white and it never goes the other way. I think the late 90s early 2000s had a proper balance of races represented within the media.

With the technology today you should be allowed to pay a bit more and have the shows and commercials suited to your sexual and racial preference.

...and while you're at it let's replace the black football, basketball and baseball players with white ones.

Alert Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Adele that they need to stick to country music.

People bltch and moan about the lack of new creativity in Hollywood, but there are only so many subjects to be written about or made into movies. I don't hear people complaining that books all write about similar subjects.

You people act like the little Mermaid is some holy grail that must not be altered. It's a focking kids movie. They are going to make a ton of money off of a new release with a black lead. I don't blame them at all. I really do think people feel threatened very easily, and that's why they let things like this bother them.

I don't know enough about it.  If it is a new story with a mermaid who happens to be black, big whoop.  If they are basically telling the same story with a black mermaid and/or calling her Ariel, pandering.

Fair enough but black people need to record their music on cave walls or in clicks and whistles that they pass down from generation to generation over a fire that they will have if they get lucky and lightning strikes some brush.

If it's just pandering, yeah I agree they should be called our for pandering. Its still being blown way out of proportion.

Dont you understand that nobody(me anyways)is mad about the fact theyre making a black mermaid? Its the fact theyre trying too hard. Nobody wants a white Princess Tiana. Id be pissed if they tried to give Darth Vader a white voice or did a remake of Electric Company and made Easy Reader a white dude. Nothing usually good comes from forced diversity.  It cant be trendy.  It cant be "look at me, Im inclusive"!

Since mermaids belong to white people.

It’s European mythology, so they kind of do. Same reason Zeus and all the Greek gods are white...Greeks are white.

The movie will flop and the trailers for it will have more downvotes than upvotes like all the forced diversity sh!t Hollywood does.

If you weren’t from America and you just watched all of our media, you would think this country is over 50% black. It isn’t. Like I originally said, black people are far over represented in the media right now. A little over 1 actor per every ten would a proper representation.

My wife and I just saw Toy Story 4.  Excellent movie.

The not-so-subtle front and center display of an inter-racial "my two moms" couple and their kid at kindergarten seemed a wee bit forced, though.

It’s so rare these days for commercials, movies, shows, etc... to show the most common American couple there is; a straight white male and woman.

That would defeat their purpose of making it look like blacks and gays are the norm.

Thankfully this is all just a fad that will fade away as far left liberalism dies.

You didn't think having a female character doing all the heavy lifting was a bit forced as well?

I doubt that.  I really enjoyed it and it's the usual Pixar quality.  That's probably why it stuck out so blatantly.  Not quite as bad as the Avengers "Girl Power" scene though.

Edit: oh, were you talking about Little Mermaid?  Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Yeah. Don't really care, but it was a bit over the top. And of course the father was an inept bumbling idiot. The white father, of course.

Have you all never seen Happily Ever After on HBO?  It take all the traditional fairy tales but uses people of color as the characters. It's not sacrilege.

I definitely think there would be an uproar if they cast Tiana as white in the live action version BUT not if they cast the white characters as black. It would be really great seeing working class whites working for rich blacks.

BTW,

That video was too long and her voice too slow for me to get through it.
