He was waiting to see what he was going to do when he was suicided. That was the point of the suicide, to silence him before he talked. He would have had no hesitation with Trump. Wolff said he had as much as 100 hours of tapes of Epstein talking about Trump and played a short snippet of one of the tapes in the podcast.
