All QBs who entered the NFL post 1995 played by this rule: 1995: When tackling a passer during or just after throwing a pass, a defensive player is prohibited from unnecessarily and violently throwing him down and landing on top of him with all or most of the defender’s weight. Eli also played many years after the following rules were implemented: (Favre did too, but he started playing in 91-92, so he had 10 years of hard knocks pre 2002) 2002: It is illegal to hit a quarterback helmet-to-helmet any time after a change of possession. 2006: Low hits on the quarterback are prohibited when a rushing defender has an opportunity to avoid such contact. 2007: A block below the waist against an eligible receiver while the quarterback is in the pocket is a 15-yard penalty instead of a 5-yard penalty (an illegal cut block). 2009: It is an illegal hit on a defenseless receiver if the initial force of the contact by the defender’s helmet, forearm, or shoulder is to the head or neck area of the receiver. Penalty: 15 yards. All these rules, while making the game safer, made it infinitely easier for a QB and their receivers to succeed Starr, Bradshaw, Staubach, Montana, even Aikman and Young played at a time when defenders went head hunting as soon as a QB left the pocket Do you think today’s QB’s and WR’s would survive with guys like Butkus, Lambert, Lott and Tatum roaming the field? I don’t.

Lol They really dont see that it's over. Saw time and time again... "no way Brady let's his last pass be a pick 6 at Gillette," and "we just need some more weapons and we will be back next year." Honestly... I expected us to beat em worse than we did. I did not expect the Titans passing game to get completely shut down. I was expecting something similar to last year's meeting. It's been apparent for two years now that Brady is declining, and it's only going to speed up. Is he "done?" probably not. Put him on a loaded roster, he can get it done. He's one of the smartest students of the game we've seen. But he can no longer carry a bargain basement band of scrub receivers. I will be very interested to see what happens up there this off-season. In Nashville too. We have decisions to make about Henry, Tannehill, Logan Ryan, and RT Conklin. Many interesting situations league wife. Dallas and Dak. NO and brees/Bridgewater. TB and Winston. CAR and cam. LA and rivers. Could be a big shakeup this off-season. This is a huge shift going on in the nfl. The old guard QB’s are fading and a new era of qb’ing has arrived. You may not need to have the greatest qb anymore to win a title. The game has become very easy for the position with the rules and how they are enforced. . Brady and Brees got taken out by Henry, Cooks some big plays on defense and a few plays out of the qb position. That would be unheard of a few years ago.
