It is definitely true that there are trans people who genuinely feel the way the proclaim to feel.  The fact that it is genuine for a lot of them doesn’t prevent it being a mental illness.  It is an illness to be convinced you are a gender other than what you are.

If folks wandered around believing they had super powers, we’d recognize them as ill.  If your coworker is convinced that he’s Troy Aikman, he’s ill.  If your white uncle believes he’s black, he’s ill.  And if your daughter believes she’s your son, she’s ill.

Do you guys know trannies or see any in day to day? I live in one of the most librul cities in the US. I’ve known a fair number of gay people but never personally met a tranny. There’s one I see at my gym every couple of weeks. Never in the locker room.

My daughter had two among her friends in HS.  One came from a messed-up abusive family (as per him, I didn't know the parents); he went in and out of being trans.  He was one of those elective trans kids crying for attention that I'm told doesn't exist, since they are all trans by nature and have no choice.
