Coronavirus - Doomsday

Recommended Posts

So three white house staffers test positive die to doing a rapid result test every day. Now, Hahn, Fauci, and Redfield are all going to quarantine because of exposure to the infected. Who were all asymptomatic.

Crazy how widespread testing and contact tracing is the SOP at the White House.  Yet they tell it's not necessary to open businesses.

Are you awake yet?

Please please please provide us how to pull this off/risk benefit analysis in a country of 330 million people. Youre comparing the White House to the entire country.

Youre lost dude. Just like so many lefties, you are lost on the nuances of your opinions.  Yall make these wide-swath assertions and dont ever analyze the nuances.

Quote

COVID-19 has directly claimed tens of thousands of U.S. lives, but conditions stemming from the novel coronavirus — rampant unemployment, isolation and an uncertain future — could lead to 75,000 deaths from drug or alcohol abuse and suicide, new research suggests.

Opening back up isn't just so people can get a haircut and nobody wants anyone to die.  However all decisions have consequences.

I didn't realize this was happening- this report is from the Black Caucus, and how it affects minorities. That's not the point. There was a similar article out there last week. I can't find that one. I had no idea names and addresses were being provided to law enforcement. Seems like a stretch.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/black-lawmakers-call-on-governor-health-officials-to-stop-sharing-coronavirus-test-results-with-police/ar-BB13SAGO?ocid=hplocalnews

Black lawmakers call on governor, health officials to stop sharing coronavirus test results with police

The Tennessee Black Caucus of State Legislators has called upon Gov. Bill Lee and state health officials to end a practice of sharing names and addresses of residents who test positive for coronavirus with police.

Caucus Chairman Rep. G.A. Hardaway, D-Memphis, said the practice may have a “chilling effect” that keeps those who are distrustful of the government from being tested for coronavirus.

“Our membership has heard from many in the African-American community who are concerned by this release of personal data without their knowledge, as well as many in the Hispanic community who fear possible other uses of the information,” Hardaway said in a statement.

“People feel their constitutional right to privacy is being violated without any warning. There are better ways to protect our first responders while, at the same time, giving proper notification to the citizens involved.”

The state government confirmed the practice of sharing test results with police officers last week after it was revealed by the newly formed Tennessee Lookout news organization. Separately, the Nashville Metro Health Department confirmed to The Tennessean that it shares similar information with city police.

Gov. Bill Lee defended the practice statewide on Friday, saying the information was necessary to protect the lives of police officers who might need to respond to a home where an infected person lives. Chris Song, a spokesman for Nashville Mayor John Cooper, gave a similar justification for sharing patient info with police in the city.

In the Sunday statement calling for the end of this practice, black caucus Vice Chairman Rep. Rick Staples, D-Knoxville, said officials need to give "more thought" to how this practice could backfire.

“That’s why it’s so important to have diverse representation at the table when these issues are being discussed so decisions aren’t being made that could possibly do more harm than good and possibly set us back in terms of much needed testing,” he said.

This is going to be widespread unfortunately. Too many asshats with the attitude that Big Brother isn't going to tell them what to do. People won't want to wear masks. Or stay separated. They think they're being patriotic and making some grand statement of defiance, but they will be the cause of things shutting back down as quickly as they reopen.

Not sure if this has been posted. Sounds like there is a limited amount of Remdesivir to treat Covid patients. Even if it helps, people are now suppose to go back to normal because the hospitals are not at capacity. But if you get Covid, you have to hope to be one of the lottery winners to receive the magic drug. When did we start living in a 3rd world country?

Yeah, they should have had warehouses of the stuff for a virus that didn’t exist and a drug they didn’t know helped with a virus that didn’t exist. The brilliance being brought forth here today is breathtaking.

Brilliance?

How can you ask people to put themselves at risk, siting the hospitals are under capacity? Only to find out, if you do end up in the hospital the one drug that may save your life is in short supply.

The alternative is slowing the reopening of things until you can do it safely. That includes having enough supplies to take care of those that will get sick. We haven't done that. That's Brilliant.

Yup. Tell all those people with cancer to ride it out. We can’t open until the virus is taken care off. Rub some dirt on it.

You really don’t pay attention too much. Maybe Trump will tweet about how other serious medical conditions are taking a backseat to the virus and then you’ll know.

If you have cancer, you are not skipping treatment because of this virus, even if you are in a hotspot area.  They are able to treat those patients because they have capacity and it is not a huge risk to come into the hospital for treatment.  There could be a problem with people not going to the hospital or doctor to get diagnosed out of fear, if that is what you are talking about.

While concerning, there are other treatments being tested and/or developed.  I suspect, much like the ventilator "crisis" that this will end up being another nothingburger.  But the press will vilify Trump for it.

Yeah. And keeping everything closed up isn’t going to alleviate those fears. And cancer isn’t the only thing not being tended to. You people really don’t know this?

Your links are hyperbole and speculation.  There are no stats on people dying as a result.  Just estimates.  Again, it pales in comparison to the extra deaths due to coronavirus.  I also notice that you don't worry about the suicide rates for first responders during this.  Did you factor that into the mix as those will go up as deaths of more people happen.

… and "yes" I am aware of people who are reticent to seek diagnosis for ailments.  It has been talked about quite a bit here in MA and is being addressed even though we are still a hotspot.

Who said keep everything closed up? Seems like it's all or nothing for you.

I was questioning the shortage of drug. Using Trumps words, we are in a battle with this virus. We are all warriors. How would you feel if we sent our soldiers into battle with no medical supplies to treat the wounded? With the result being unnecessary deaths. In that case, people would say that the General was ill-prepared for that battle. In this case people are calling for 4 more years. That's brilliant!

I don't recall you saying it was speculation.  And No, that's not all I was basing it on.   That was just supporting evidence that seemed pretty rock solid to me.  But this is the geek club.  Someone can assert 2+2=4 with a proof from Einstein and some yahoo will still dispute it.  There is a lot of evidence similar to that link but I'm not gonna do the legwork to post it based on how dismissive you are about any of it.    How many different locations would it take before you'd acknowledge it at truth?
