It's about how to hold power.  Their strategy is to promote Trump with Republicans by indicting him, which they clearly understand elevates him within the party......then get just one......just one.....thing to stick and try to use it to then prevent him from running or being elected, sending the Republican Party into some kind of freefall....or perhaps just sway enough independents to avoid Trump getting in there.....

If Trump can get in there, and start making peoples lives better again, imagine how that will look for them?    You had four stellar years under Trump, followed by four miserable ones under Biden, and then Trump fixes it and makes it work again? It would be ruinous for their desire for power.....   they are going all in to avoid Trump as a result, that is why we see such over the top behaviors.

They knew it would pass so they can vote no, take credit after the fact for good parts while saying they didn’t vote for it. Oldest trick in DC. Agree on both points.

My intention was to illuminate the energy component as the foremost issue, setting aside things like immigration which was also stupid but not related to inflation.

Someone of his experience should have understood, and easily understood, that his actions on energy would be inflationary....which makes his later actions with the ensuing policies just unforgivable. Then his move to pretend there was no inflation......and then to pretend it was transitory.....I mean, there was damage that arose from those outright lies......

I mean I’d chalk that up to spin. No one is ever taking blame in DC. While they put policies into place that didn’t help a majority of this was going to be baked in coming out of Pandemic.

Again, and I’ve asked this question several times but received no satisfactory answer: if worldwide inflation went up roughly the same percentage during this same time period (in some cases much worse) then how can American spending be the culprit?
