Delta variant more transmissible than chickenpox?

It is funny though, in my every day life.. Nobody gives a shlt about any of this. We've moved on. The people I know are healthy and take care of themselves. We are happy in our suburban bubble..

I only get reminded of this being a thing when I visit this site.

The benefits to living in the middle of the country. You don't give a fock about us and I can guaran damn tee you we don't give a flying fock about you..

Do you have kids in school?  If so, it seems many are debating masks right now.  Unless you’re in states like Texas and Florida where the governor is trying to ban schools from requiring them...which btw kinda seems like a dictator type thing to do, no?

What does saying, the Delta variant accounted for x cases sequenced tell me and you?  Did you not have data from Mass posted by Tim telling you how many cases were actually sequenced, how many of those were the Delta variant, how many went to the hospital and of those how many were vaccinated and unvaccinated?  What does that tell you?

It tells me you keep moving the goal posts. You implied you were doubtful about the # of Delta cases. Or at least that how I interpreted it. I provided a link about the sequencing and you said that you doubted it (sequencing) was that prevalent. I posted another link showing how they use that data to determine the spread of Delta, and now you jump to this- which wasn’t what we were discussing.

But since you want to move on to this line of questioning… What it tells me is: That the 4 vaccinated people who were hospitalized after contracting the Delta variant were most likely male, around 40 and probably had an underlying health condition. But of course that information was not included.

No it doesn't.   The vast majority of school children's parents don't want them to be forced to wear them.   They want a choice.   Dictators don't give you one.

I've never been tested but I'm sure I've had it. There's no way I could not have.

What doesn't make sense to me, and it seems like the "guidance" might be changing, is why don't vaxed people have to wear masks but unvaxed people do?

We know for certain that both vaxed and unvaxed people can get it and spread it. So why do vaxed spreaders (potentially) get a pass on the mask?

The inconsistencies and outright flip-flops in guidance from Faucci and others leads me to believe that either they don't know wtf they're doing or what they're doing is not in the best interest of the public. Either way I'm disinclined to lend any weight to the opinions of the so called "experts" and rely even more on my own immune system to defeat this and any other Covid virus that comes down the pike.

My T cells and Memory B cells > vaccine antibodies.

Well it’s seeming like vaxxed people aren’t getting a pass anymore.

But while they can still spread it if they get it, the reason they had a pass was because they are (present tense) far less likely to get it in the first place.

Edit:  But if there are mask requirements at all, I think they should either be for everyone or proof of vaccination or prior infection should be required.  Because all the “masks not required for vaccinated people” recommendation did was give unvaccinated people an excuse not to wear theirs.

I believe until Delta they also thought vaccinated people were at low risk of spreading it, but since Delta also increases the viral load, that no longer applies.

I dunno man schools have a lot of rules.  Why should they be banned from making a rule on masks?  Edit: Many individual schools making their own decisions isn’t really a dictator IMO.  But one guy at the capital preventing them from doing so kinda is.

Why does that matter when it's been proven that post vax reinfection is possible? So vaxed people without comorbidities should be exempt as should recovered individuals without comorbidities. Everybody else now has to wear a mask for the rest of their lives?

I mean, when/where does the buIIshit stop?

I don't know, but I find it very troubling a person would be mocked for wanting to see the raw data. To read and understand what the science is saying.

Some people don't want to be told what to think. Unlike worms some would rather come to their own conclusions.

Trust is at an all time low and "the experts" are doing so hot these days.

I didn’t mock him for wanting to see raw data.  I mocked him for saying “469 cases isn’t raw data.”  Yes it is.

And again, even if you had their notepads and Excel files, you’d still have to trust their raw data.  I’ve shared links to the CDC’s raw data in CSV format on weekly deaths on here and we’ve got people here saying they don’t even believe the total number of people that died.

BTW, does it seem strange to anybody else that we didn't start to see variants popping up until after the vaccine was available?

It's almost as if the virus is becoming immune to the vaccine. One more reason why natural immunity > vaccine.

I didn't say you mocked him. In fact, you replied to my post that wasn't even directed at you.

And no, I don't have to trust their data. They haven't earned my trust. Especially after this past year.

Hell, I'm not even sure why I'm wasting my time with you. You've proven to be unreliable, untrustworthy, and a sheep who regurgitates false information.

I don’t mean you “have to” trust their data.  I meant there’s no point to having that data unless you trust it.

Well that was part of the counter argument when the CDC said vaccinated people didn’t need to wear masks originally.  The vaccine was never 100% effective at preventing infection but it was 90%+ (especially pre-Delta and is still pretty close to that even against Delta), so the chances were pretty low of getting it (and yes there was also the belief originally that if they did get it they were less likely to spread it).

In addition, the metrics were improving at the time which I think had a lot to do with the decision.  Now they are going the opposite direction which I think had a lot to do with this decision.  So no, you won’t have to wear a mask for the rest of your life.  And if we don’t see much increase in deaths with this wave hopefully that will end the need for masks once and for all

Pretty sure there have been variants since before the vaccines.  And the Delta variant started in India which was almost entirely unvaccinated at the time.

I feel like this is college.  Sigma Nu and Lambda Chi always had the best parties.  I'm assuming those variants will be killer too.

There is still a very high chance that a mutation will arise that will kill 100+ million.  Very high.  We are getting lucky.  This thing is still spreading like wildfire, giving it tons of opportunities to make that mutation.  They won't signal the coast is clear until maybe 2025.  It is what it is.

Well, just to be sure, I'm wearing a mask, a helmet, a seatbelt and a condom at all times now.

You can never be too careful.

Not to be crude about death, but if it happens, Biden is completely screwed.  Trump will wipe the floor with him over not closing the border.

Trump had the chinavirus. Beat it. He did have the advantage of taking HQC though. That stuff works.

This.  I was referring to this "mutation that will kill 100 million people." If that happens, those 2 75+ year olds are toast.

When he actually got it, he took the Regeneron antibody cocktail.  No mention of HCQ here - https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/10/heres-what-known-about-president-donald-trump-s-covid-19-treatment

"The statement released on 2 October by the president’s physician said that in addition to the antibodies, Trump “has been taking zinc, vitamin D, famotidine, melatonin and a daily aspirin.” That wording leaves unclear whether he was taking those substances before his diagnosed infection. Notably, the statement does not indicate whether Trump was or is taking hydroxychloroquine, the antimalarial he controversially pushed as a COVID-19 treatment."

He took HQC as a prophylactic. Lessened the symptoms.

Sure Swoosie, I'm moving the goalposts.  What you should have gotten from the post was that they, the CDC, didn't even do genomic sequencing on most of the cases, which should tell you something.  In any event, I'm going to try and find a Delta variant testing facility.  Ill report back and let you know how it goes.

Honest question: what does it tell you?

Why do they need to do the sequencing on every case?   It's similar to the "positivity %" - it's not an exact measure of the prevalence, but gives you a pretty good idea.

LMAO...was just gonna post the same thing.  I'm give him the benefit of the doubt that he's not aware of how common it is for civiians, much less the damn POTUS, to be taken to the hospital in the DC area via helicopter,  even if just a few miles away.  Even CNN can't find anything alarming about it.
