The Monte Cristo got me thinking.

 

This time of year, a lot of the Italian parishes will have fundraisers that include an Italian sausage sandwich with peppers. It's almost always Patty, not link

 Usually cheese and marinara involved. 

 

Maybe it's the memories. Maybe it's the weather. I know the Broncos used to sell those sandwiches too. 

 

There was a deli when I'm growing up that had a double decker sandwich. The bottom layer was warm sausage with cheese and peppers and then the top layer was Italian cold cuts and cheeses. Freaking delicious.

Nice input. Bahn mi was the most underrated sandwich I've ever had. In Houston We could get one for like four bucks that was just amazing.

 

I'm sure the hipsters have rooned that.

Isn’t po boy just another name for sandwich like hero or sub ? Like when I was Nawlins I could get a shrimp po boy or an alligator po boy ? At least that how I remember it.

Two come to mind and both in my high school days. 

1st by my house. Hot pastrami with melted cheddar - that’s it. No condiments. 

2nd by my school. Chicken croquettes heated with bacon then add Mayo cheese lettuce tomato salt and pepper

4 slices of good quality summer sausage. Microwave on speed defrost 30 seconds flip & repeat. Use a paper towel to remove the grease & put them in 2 slices of bread with a slice of Colby Jack cheese. Delicious

Po boy's are sub sandwiches and the ones in New Orleans suck ass. Worst sandwich on the planet. All of them.

Had one at the Acme Oyster House in New Orleans. It was really terrible. And that place is highly reviewed as being really good. 

People in New Orleans don't know their sandwiches and are too poor to go to any other city to try theirs.

I had an alligator po boy LA (not Nawlins) that was fantastic-breaded and fried served with tartar sauce . That same day/night I did my first shot of moonshine and I asked the hot bartender chick to taze me. She did. WTF was I thinking.

I do not each much bread but a simple grilled cheese made with real butter.  Meat is optional but I miss those a lot.
