I love that Putin is flexing his muscles and weak-ass Europe is slowly coming to heel.  Those arrogant pricks are finally realizing one thing.  Might is right.  That's how this world works whether anyone likes it or not.  If Europe wants to do something about it then they better start investing in not only their militaries but also in ways to keep themselves warm in the winter.

The west wants a proxy war with Russia that lasts a long time so they can bleed them out. It was the west that armed the mujahideen (Taliban) when Russia invaded Afghanistan.  It is thought that that war was a big reason for the downfall of the Soviet Union.  Worked out for the west. Not so much for Afghanistan.

I’d like it to end for the good of the Ukrainian people—but on their terms, or at least terms they are willing to accept without being strong armed by people who were supposed to be in their corner.

True, and Europe won't just cut Russia completely off, but what they should do is cap oil imports from Russia at some percentage of their total supply to protect themselves.

And if Russia thinks they can trust China, good luck to them.  As soon as China wants to put Russia in their place, they'll just go somewhere else for imports.  Man, imagine having to rely on China as your main trade partner?  That's Biden levels of stupid.

They'll still have India, too, but if Putin thinks NATO moving in next door is some existential threat, how the hell can he feel good about giving china the keys to his economy?  That situation presents a much bigger threat than a toothless NATO expanding.
