I do have a problem with the ensuing useless backpedaling. If you're going to toss that out there, you might as well own it. wiffleball 4,790 Posted March 28, 2022 President Joe Biden's speech in Warsaw during which he said Vladimir Putin "cannot remain in power" may have prompted fury in Moscow and clarifications in Washington - but it appears to have gone down very well in Ukraine. Biden condemned the Russian war against Ukraine as a threat to the post-World War Two world order and promised the West would continue to exert pressure on Putin's government. BBC Monitoring's analysis of Ukrainian media shows the US president's speech was broadcast live and was the top news story in Ukraine. The Ukrainian media hailed the speech as "historic" and expressed hope Biden's words would translate into more arms supplies for Kyiv to end the war "against the Russian dictatorship". The Pryamyy TV channel highlighted Biden's statement that Russia will never defeat Ukraine. Journalist Vitaliy Portnikov said on Twitter the address was a "new and strong call for freedom and to fight" against the Russian regime. Hardcore troubadour 15,519 Posted March 28, 2022 Biden is walking it all back now. I remember all those historic speeches that had to be walked back. Lol. It’s so obvious Biden wants a war. He didn’t do a thing about Putin massing troops at the border and then his “small excursion “ comment came about. Here's a Gulf War story. I spent one night of my life as a POW guard. When the Iraqs surrendered, we didn't do anything like this. This was the middle of the desert. They were already disarmed when we got them. We gave them food and medical care if needed. We put them inside a circle and surrounded them with concertina wire, outside the circle we sat in our trucks all facing inwards with the lights on. Then we sat in the trucks for a shift and when we were relieved, went to our tents to sleep. By the time I woke up, they were gone.

Soldiers should treat POW's well for a few reasons... mainly so they aren't incentivized to treat your POW's like that. Also so enemy soldiers are more likely to surrender. That was disgusting. Hopefully it was an anomaly among Ukraine soldiers, but that video has gone viral so it's likely Ukraine POW's are getting badly treated in retaliation.
