Putin is losing the Chinese public and maybe the government since they've taken to calling him "Ma BaoGuo" and it's not being censored offline as it normally would.

I don't think so. If you want to stand against "Western Imperialism" you want strong partners. Not allies. China doesn't have allies, but they do make friends and cooperate with every sh*tbag regime across the globe. "We don't criticize you in your internal affairs, do whatever you want," and so they have good relations with everyone that crosses the west: Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea.   

If Putin's excursion in Ukraine is a test run for Xi's invasion of Taiwan, it's a disaster. The Chinese can wring him for cheap oil at whatever price they want to pay but I don't rightly know what's going on with that.

It was funny, while most of the rest of the world warned their civilians to evacuate Ukraine in the week before the invasion, China didn't. Their advice to Chinese citizens in Ukraine was "Just fly Chinese flags from your car and house." China Tells Citizens in Ukraine to Stay at Home, Display Chinese Flag (businessinsider.com)  A day or two later, that changed to "don't display the Chinese flag."

Are any of us so ignorantly shortsighted as to think his goals were short term?  Only time will tell.  His goal of taking/disabling Mariupol and disputed Ukraine certainly were realized.  The UN hasn't made any overtures about Ukraine, so that's one for him.  Perhaps you can mention any downside from his perspective, because I don't see any.

Also, oil prices spiked but Russia couldn't capitalize on that and now that peace talks seem to be gaining traction the price of oil is dropping.....almost as if- nah....HT still wouldn't get it.
