Trump's residence raided by the FBI

Recommended Posts

Good read:   The Raid that Red-Pilled America (substack.com)

Excerpts:

It shouldn’t be too surprising that they used that moment to hold their primetime extravaganza of January 6th. If they can’t win over voters with better candidates or policies, they will scare the living daylights out of them. Donald Trump hadn’t even announced he was running for office, but the failure of Biden and the Democrats alone was enough to launch an all-out war on Trump, his henchmen, and his supporters.

What is most frightening about watching the media spin on a story like the unprecedented raid on a former president’s home, or any story on any day, is how they always offload the bad stuff onto Trump and MAGA. Now, they’ve pivoted away from the naked abuse of power displayed by a politicized DOJ and towards the reaction by the GOP against the FBI.

There were no real witches in Salem, America is not corrupt to its core with “white supremacy,” and Trump is not an omnipotent Super Villain. We’re all just human beings, flaws and all. Trump is still the same gadfly from the 1980s whose fame revolved around his opulent lifestyle.

He’s the same guy who starred in Celebrity Apprentice. Trump is not secretive - if anything, he’s an over-sharer. He doesn’t hide things or tries to grab power behind the scenes. Everything is right on the page, warts and all. He perplexes the Left because he still believes in an America where everyone has a right to say what they want, lives how they want, thinks what they want regardless of the fast-changing rules of behavior mandated by the new Left.

Trump’s rise is no coincidence. He is overtly and deliberately offensive. He mocked a disabled reporter. He made fun of John McCain. He called Marco Rubio “Little Marco.” He often seems like a bully. But there is a side to Trump people don’t know and don’t see. The human side of Trump. When you take the time to see that, dehumanization evaporates.

This doesn’t mean I’m suggesting you “like” Trump, see him as a good person or even support him. It just means we should get a grip before things go too far to turn back around. We’re already there.

While Republicans initially spoke out strongly against the raid, their public support became more muted when records unsealed on Friday revealed that the FBI had seized 11 sets of classified documents from Mar-a-Lago. The Washington Post reported that the bureau searched for classified documents about nuclear weapons.

Reports suggest Republicans are now struggling to respond to the revelations, and some Trump allies are starting to distance themselves.

Some Republicans have conceded that it would be concerning if Trump kept information about nuclear weapons.

On Friday, the Freedom Caucus, a group of conservative House Republicans, canceled at short-notice a press conference about the Mar a Lago raid.

Early on in the Trump presidency, he kicked out all the American reporters and kept the Russian reporters in the oval office and showed him something. I can't remember what it was. But it was really crazy that he showed to the Russians and not to the americans. Anybody recall that story?

Stellar.  Good job. Thank you.

Seems cogent in light of current events.

So a liberal written article in 2017 is related how?

“The story that came out tonight as reported is false,” H.R. McMaster, Trump’s national security adviser, told reporters at the White House, adding that the leaders reviewed a range of common threats including to civil aviation.

“At no time were intelligence sources or methods discussed. The president did not disclose any military operations that were not already publicly known...I was in the room. It didn’t happen,” he said

It started in mid 2016 when the Democrats in conjunction with (or at least with the blessing of) the Obama administration ginned up the Russian hoax as an excuse to investigate/monitor Trump.

There, happy?  Please stop asking this inane question.

Thank you for proving my point correct.

It apparently all started when one person whined about it being a conspiracy against them and people like you lapped it up.

No, it started when Hillary was afraid of losing and went with the smear tactics approach. Then the liberals all channeled their collective hatred and couldn't stop with all the lies.

I would say that the seeds were planted after 9/11 when W Bush admin got a lot of the surveillance stuff green lit with the Patriot act and other measures.   In light of 9/11 you could make a case that those steps were justified.   Personally, I think (like we usually do) we over-reacted and took them too far.     FBI and DOJ went from "protect all Amercans" to "search for our enemies".

I would argue with the 2016 starting point and put it closer to 2011-12 when the Obama admin was caught spying on reporters and the IRS was caught going after conservative groups.    Clearly at that point the Obama admin had crossed a threshold and was actively using gov't agencies to go after political rivals.   From there it is a very straight line to the Clinton campaign cooking up the idea to sick the FBI and DOJ on Trump by tossing a bag of lies at them.    Hillary knew the mind-set the FBI and DOJ were in and knew she could throw ridiculous, poorly sourced stories at them and they would gulp it down like a hungry penguin being thrown a sardine.    One of the under-appreciated stories of 2008-2016 is the multitude of doosh-bags libs that Obama populated our gov't bureaucracy with.    Just hive-mind D-bags with zero impartiality.    By the time 2016 rolled around - it was game on.

Then Trump came along and the DOJ and FBI got caught pulling a lot of BS and didn't like that.    Instead of doing a "mea culpa" they doubled down and it became "us vs them".   So even though it was 4 yrs of a Trump admin he never really rooted out the rot there and the constant battle between his admin and the FBI and DOJ just made them even easier to weaponize.   They already hated "the other side" so it's not too hard to coax them into going after them.

Biden comes along and the media and dems are all screaming for revenge.    FBI and DOJ have been building to this point for 10 yrs or more.    And voila!  we've got ourselves a raid on a former presidents home.

We got the passports back.  What a clown show.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump·4m

The DOJ and FBI just returned my passports. Thank you! Unfortunately, when they Raided my home, Mar-a-Lago, 8 days ago, they just opened their arms and grabbed everything in sight, much as a common criminal would do. This shouldn’t happen in America!

The former senior official directly familiar with the matter explained to NBC News that the president’s intelligence briefing that day included a photo from one of the America’s premier spy satellites — an image with resolution far superior to anything on the commercial market. The photo showed the aftermath of a catastrophic failure of an Iranian rocket launch.

“We had this image of the Iranian missile blown up, and it was exquisite intelligence, and he didn’t even wait,” the former official said. “As soon as we showed him, he said, ‘Hey, I’m tweeting this.’”

The official said CIA Director Gina Haspel and Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire tried to talk Trump out of doing it, noting that the U.S. spent billions of dollars developing capabilities to capture images from space, and told Trump, “You can’t do this. If you put this out, they’re going understand what our capability is.”

But the former official said Trump was unmoved.

He said, 'Look, I’m the president, I can declassify anything,'” the official said.

Sean, I appreciate the kind words you said to me earlier (maybe this thread, I don't recall).  And I generally respect your take as well.  Which is why I'm flumoxed as to how I can make no sense out of what you are posting on this topic.

You say I'm a loyal Trump foot soldier, but I'm on record as supporting DeSantis in 2024 and wishing Trump would just go away, and I have plenty of posts here to corroborate that.  You on the other hand claim to vote Republican 2/3 of the time yet have 0.0 posts to support that you've ever remotely considered anything right of center.

Fine...I'll retract that about you but it definitely holds true from many here.

I've expressed a few times things that I believe that would definitely fall under the GOP wing.

My only point on the Trump stuff is since so much of the whole "FBI and DOJ is being weaponized" traces back to the Trump time period it can be easily argued- or outright stands to reason- that perhaps it is just one person passing the blame as opposed to some conspiracy.

It mostly goes back to the belief that Trump is a professional victim and he uses that to keep support high. The most that can be said to me is that the other side plays into it more than it should.

The challenge with your model is that the Trump-specific timeline I provided pre-dates him even being in office.  The machine was out to get him back then, with provably false info which you've made no attempt to refute.

Just a quick google search shows that in 2019 there were 30 investigations regarding Trump (includes federal, state/local, congressional). This was also before Jan 6th.

The most recent quarter shows that around $1.6M was spent on Jan 6th ALONE - for 3 months.

If I had to guess, I'd say we've spent into the trillions on all of these investigations. On ONE man that people think is the #1 threat to our country.

We should be spending that money on Space Force!
