John Carol Lynch. His role in Gran Torino and Walking Dead were great.

He was also pretty good as a prison guard in "Face/Off"

I remember first seeing John Carroll Lynch in "The Drew Carey" show as Drew's cross-dressing brother...

Quality stuff...

He was also good in his one-off in "Monk" and "American Horror Story"...

This list is sh1t* if it leaves Will Patton off of the list!!

(* = actually it's a pretty good list but Patton should be on it)

I think Steve Buscemi qualifies so I nominate him.  He's never the star, as near as I can tell.

List was meh; too many obscure British actors for my taste.  I'd prefer more obscure American actors.  :D

Wife and I started watching Community; John Michael Higgins was on an early episode we watched last night as the "Carpe Diem" professor.  He was focking hilarious in the Pitch Perfect movies (yes I'm ghey).  Love him whenever I see him.

Strother Martin was a character actor I learned about from the best character actor thread from a few years ago.  He's a top fiver.

I'll also add Bruce McGill.

Yeah, good list. I don't think you could do a hell of a lot better than Walton goggins. He has played so many different roles. He was of course spectacular in justified. But there's so much more.

Danny McBride too. Kenny Powers is number 3 best character of all time behind Bo and Luke Duke.

Nothing tragic imo. I just watched him in Unforgiven with Burt Lancaster. I always liked him and thought he was handsome.

Edward Norton

He's a good actor, but he's not a really very good at disappearing in the role. He carries a lot of himself with each character.

Director John Boorman didn't want an actor to play Lonnie, who is described in the script as "probably a half-wit, likely from a family inbred to the point of imbecility." Sixteen-year-old Billy Redden was spotted at a local high school and cast.

Damn, that's harsh! 😁
