Cam Akers OUT

Recommended Posts

This one is weird…

Rams coach Sean McVay said Cam Akers (personal) will not play in Week 6 against the Panthers.

There's also this from Jourdan Rodrigue: "McVay says team is working through the situation, and he also declined to say whether he believes Akers will be a part of the team in the future." Wowza. Darrell Henderson will probably lead a committee and regain a lot of his fantasy value this week, and potentially in the future as well if Akers is out for longer than this.

Things have obviously been rocky for Akers this year. McVay had some weird stuff to say about him earlier, seeming to suggest Akers wasn’t putting in the work or something. Seemed like a weird thing to say with the guy coming back from a bad injury so fast. Not sure what’s going on but obviously the alarm bells are blasting

All aboard the train to Henderson! Choo Choo! Obviously different than the Allen Robinson train.

when players get injured, mcvay is usually pretty quick to sharpen the axe

This is actually good news - no second-guessing on the possibility he blows up on the bench in what should be a plus matchup this week.  Henderson becomes a must start?

This doesn't sound like a one week get your mind right thing with Akers. This is starting to sound like his days as a Ram are numbered.

Yeah, speculation but I’m guessing it could be criminal charges or something like that…or maybe just getting traded

What is Akers’ contract status?  Unless he has a few more years don’t see why Carolina would be interested

Trade is in the works for CMC will be announced during the bye week

Lol… he’s not going from one team that can’t block to another team thats somehow worse at blocking.

Philly i could see. Or even Dallas. How insane would that be

Agreed on Philly. They are in win now mode and have a treasure trove of draft capital…

My guess is this is a similar situation to Ridley. Mental health thing. Maybe he’s out a couple weeks. Maybe the season.

My thinking, also

"Philosophical and football differences with the coaching staff" doesn't so much sound like a mental health issue, although it could stem from one; it just sounds more like Cam wants to play more and the coaches don't want him to.

Sean McVay has no update on Cam Akers' situation, but says: "There is a possibility we could help him look for a fresh new start for another team ... there's probably a move that will be made with regards to him being on another team."

#Rams coach Sean McVay mentioned that there's a chance RB Cam Akers could return to the team, but the first option is moving him to another team: "If that doesn’t come to fruition then we’ll figure out a solution how to best move forward with him here."

who is the team that will trade for him? Hearing Denver, Atlanta, Miami and Seattle could be in the mix.

Hopefully Miami then, because I drafted Patterson/Williams for Atlanta and recently acquired Walker and Murray for Seattle and Denver.
