2022 Midterm Elections

Do they write them on papaya paper there?

Invisible ink.   The only way to have secure voting.  The downside is it takes a long time to slowly heat each ballot up to record the votes.

I don’t know how many more times people need to hear this before it finally sets in.

And it’s not longer just about fighting over policies-both sides are now demonizing the other using phasing and terms that dehumanize the voters of the opposite party. Fear and hate motivates people much better than anything else. I’m not even sure how we fix it at this point.

My hope is that these midterms serve as a statement that people are tired of the divisiveness, extremism and intolerance. I don't see MSNBC and CNN spewing the same volume of angry vitriol an insane conspiracy theories as right-wing sources such as Tucker Carlson, Newsmax and OAN.

Those left sources do zero in on what Clownzo and the MAGAtards are doing, not demonizing conservatives as a whole.

As I've been saying for years, the middle is where the power is going as the extremes get isolated and pushed out. It's a national reaction to the action.

Nancy Pelosi herself repeatedly has said the country needs a strong Republican party, not this Clownzo-led extremist cult he has created.

As of now, it looks like the Democrats will hold the Senate while the Republicans take the house.

This might be a great thing in regard to them forcing to compromise and work together to get sh!t done.

Pretty much, I agree, although we need to stop the comparisons to Nazi’s and calling everyone a racist. Cancel culture is also a huge problem on the left and needs to go.

As long as there is air in Mitch McConnell’s lungs, that will never happen.

The Nazi and racist stuff and all that absolutely gets old. It's always said by people who know nothing about actually living under Nazi rule I'm sure.

We need a center candidate. And both sides need to stop listening to their extremes and people need to stop listening to the conspiracy theorists and separators on both sides of the aisle.

Sadly, looking at candidates on the horizon it feels like Ol' Joe is about as center as it gets for main candidates in the near future for the 2 parties.

Well at least Biden is a centrist. He does tend to ignore the extreme portion of the left for the most part as well.

The results Tuesday speak for themselves. Clownzo and his MAGAtard toadies dragging the country through two more years of his crazy sh!t show is just going to empower and fire up the middle. He's already laying the groundwork for the primaries to be an embarrassing nightmare. He is dividing and bullying his own party.

Young voters decisively voted Democratic in this election, and this country gets browner by the day.

The far right needs to soften up or it's going to find itself further isolated.

Just heard an interview on the radio with an elections chief in Arizona. He said there are over 290,000 ballots to count, and the results probably won’t be available until early next week.

Did the elections chief work for Katie Hobbs?

Trump needs to cease the friendly fire for sure.

With young adults staying on their parents insurance and living at home longer, perhaps raising the voting age isn't a bad idea, and the brown people are starting to wise up to the left's false promises.

This country needs a hard jerk :softball: to the right just to get back towards the center.

Look, any "system" puts in place rules to stop cheating.  Not only that though, they put in checks and balances to be transparent to even quell the question that something "could" be cheated or unfair.

Let's say that in Arizona that there is ZERO nefarious vote counting, ZERO.  100% on the up and up as if anything actually is, but lets suspend reality.   Even if that is a fact, having a system that goes on and on much later than all other states is a really bad system as it only opens up questions. Period.

Forget politics, think anything in your job or sheesh, maybe you are a Fantasy Football Commish.  You want to create draft, trade, free agent rules that are transparent and rule out any sort of collusion or cheating, even if none happen just having bad rules creates chaos and suspicion.

This is NOT being an Election Denier!@#!.  It's just focking common sense.  Be better Arizona.

I posted before that my current mode of voting is to first "cross off the crazy".    My hope from Tuesday's results is that it's a trend nationally to cross off some of that crazy (at least in this person's mind what represents some of the crazy in politics) by largely passing on stop the steal and abortion ban candidates.    Maybe that will encourage a trend back to normal on the right a bit and with their candidates.   Not fully, as there is still a fair bit out there.

Now, if the left could largely do that to the super woke crowd and the dumber portions of ideas like defund the police, and we maybe could start trending to some better options on the ballots.

Why allow early voting if you're not going to count those votes as they come in?

Either you're retarded or you want to be able to supplement the total after the fact. There are no other plausible explanations.

It is being an election denier when one automatically jumps to "The system is rigged" rather than "The system is flawed."

I don't think anyone disagrees with the idea that this process is slow. But that doesn't mean it is rigged.

I think the general idea is to not potentially influence votes by counting early.

as I've said a few times now- unless you are going to do away with state's rights and make the policies uniform across the country this is what we have to deal with.

Is that just an Az thing, or is that in general for other states.   I guess I am trying to figure out why AZ seems to be that much slower than other states at this.

:dunno: and to be fair- I'm just speculating.

But again- I agree the process is antiquated and slow. I don't think people need to immediately job to it being sinister in some way.

Put down the alcohol, Jerry, and try reading that again. There’s a reason there was a line separating those two sentences. The last was in reference to Rusty saying maybe with a divided government we can start reaching across the aisle and working together.

You don't have to make the totals publicly available before election day but ffs count them so that you can make them immediately available on election day.

Taking days/weeks to tally vote totals that have been in your possession for weeks, when much larger states are capable of producing results the day of, makes you look incompetent, at best, or corrupt.

As much as women like to expect men to read their minds, let me clue you in on some posting etiquette.  If you are responding to multiple points in a post, you highlight them and/or indicate in your response "regarding the first..." etc.  Otherwise, if you type one sentence and then another sentence, the reader will correctly assume that the second sentence follows from the first sentence.  That is how language typically works.  HTH.

So the GOP is going to flip the house and probably the Senate and somehow it is an embarrassing defeat.  It the GOP suffers anymore defeats like this, they will control all the branches of government.

 The two sentences were not put together for a reason. Anyone with a brain could figure out that I didn’t mean McConnell is responsible for the things in my first sentence, but you. And usually a new paragraph denotes a different subject. Hence the line of separation.

Go back to school, Jerry.

This may be your opinion.

I'm an educated married white male, family of four with two school age boys.  I work 45-50 hours a week on average, supports my family and pays taxes, aka a contributor to society not a taker.  I'd more classify it as a "concerned citizen".  But respect your opinion.

Charter Schools are still public schools in many places. Also they are not not panacea. But private schools- if you pay, have at it.

I mean- it was pretty clear there was a break. And essentially it set up the way it was looked like paragraph breaks which would indicate a new thought in the second part. HTH.

Duly noted.  In the future if I want to respond to two paragraphs of a three paragraph post, I'll just type two paragraphs and leave it as an exercise to the reader to infer my intention.
