I'm with you.  Normally I'm a live and let live kind of person, and I really don't care about how this particular person identifies.  I think the reason it's made such a big deal of is that this person is extremely out there with their lifestyle and how they identify.  So, much like people who get upset if you don't use their proper pronoun, this person WANTS a big deal made out of their pronouns and the fact that they identify as non-binary.   So the media accommodates them. 

Then you have the people who think all that stuff is a mental condition and they jump on it as well.  So, all angles have their reasons for bringing it up I guess.
