Crazy, brilliant and passionate. I'm actually a little dissapointed that he hasn't been found dead in the Amazon Jungle; trying to build a machine that makes ice from fire.  That being said,....the kid committed a Cardinal Sin in Hollywood; so he ain't ever REALLY coming back from that.

He shared his viewpoint.  Others reponded to his viewpoint.

For me, I find it difficult to suspend disbelief and to dissassociate actors from their viewpoints when I find those viewpoints extreme.  I do not see him on the screen and think of the character he is portraying, I think of drunk angry Mel Gibson lashing out with his antisemetic langiage.  That soet of destroys Braveheart for me, or When we were Soldiers.

Braveheart is a wonderful movie. I’ll always love it, just as I’ll always love Annie Hall. In both cases I despise the creator (for different reasons).

In the article I linked by Josh Malina he makes the point that one can love the art of Picasso and despise the artist- Pablo was a truly despicable human being.

I don’t care about Mel Gibson personally. I just don’t think his movies are very good. Other than Mad Max and maybe Lethal Weapon? That’s all 20-30 years ago. Not a fan of Braveheart.

I did want to see Dragged Across Concrete from a few years ago.

At the risk of calling you a chick, my wife is bad about this.  Me not so much; we just watched Community and I had no problem enjoying John Oliver's character, even though I couldn't disagree with him more politically.

I like Mel's movies; the big ones have been mentioned.  In hindsight, early in his career he leveraged his (apparently very real) inner rage for movies like Lethal Weapon.  And for a while he pretty much played the "Mel Gibson" character.  But I'll give him credit for growing as an actor.

That being said, I haven't seen his comments about Jews, nor do I really care about the opinions of actors on anything besides the movie business.

I've been called worse.  No worries.  I take zero offense.  Generally I can put most off the screen matters aside.  For instance I don't let the allegations against Kevin Spacey dim my enjoyment of his portrayal of Verbal Kint or Lester Burnam.  Other times I do.  for instance with Mel Gibson or Bill Cosby.  I have little consistency on the issue.  Probably good in that so many entertainers are idiots I might have a very limited catalog of shows and songs if it always bothered me.

Imagine if you were a Republican. You wouldn’t be able to watch TV, movies or listen to music.

I am more in this camp.   Movies are different for me because even if I despise an actor or director, there are 100s of other people working on that project.   I don't have issues with watching a movie that features a terrible person because of that.   In this case, I don't watch his movies because I can't think of many offhand I find to be very good to great, so it's no big loss.   Se7en is one of my favorite movies, and I am not going to stop watching that one because of Spacey.

For me it's much different in other cases.  E.g. I am not going to pay to watch a Bill Cosby stand up or something like that where it's basically 100% that person.

Oh I've seen some of the examples from the righties on these boards.   Boycott NF because of a 3sec clip of dudes in drag, or the NFL because there is some political ideas they don't agree with.

Nope, sorry - I can't imagine being that thinned skinned to no longer be able to watch these things.

Hang on...what revisionist history are you crafting now?  Conservatives are thin-skinned?  GTFO, Buck.

You're either being intentionally obtuse or you're just plain ignorant of the facts.  Multitudes of examples - try Libs of TikTok for one.  Then come back here and start talking about thin-skinned conservatives.

I mean, the entire side of your aisle lost it's sh#t starting back in 2016 and hasn't even begun to come back to normalcy.

Both can be true, and is.    I don't follow your partisan worldview.   I laugh just as much when I see trigger warnings that adults need and similar things.   Doing dumb ass stuff is not exclusive to any political party.

Sorry, if you think boycotting a show and a streaming service over a 3sec clip of a few dudes in drag is being thinned skinned, I don't know what to tell you.   That was from one of your crew at FBGs.

I never heard any outrage about that. Sounds like you’re exaggerating.   There was outrage about Cuties. Why not use the more well known one that went way longer than 3 seconds?

The country has lost it's mind.    Only idiots think that somebody is immune from overreacting to dumb stuff, being manipulated by their media, whatever based on if they voted D or R in an election.

Of course that would be your reply.  I didn't say it there was outrage in the sense that it was all over the media, it was an example from one of your crew at FBGs about his outrage of the show.  I thought it was funny, so I used that example.

Cuties was an example as well.   I also found that funny because the outrage came from people who didn't watch the movie, could never seem to be able to talk about it context of what the movie was about or it's basis on the life experiences of the writer, etc..   Equally idiotic way to go through life, and certainly not thinking for yourself.

Have any more excellent examples of people on the right acting silly and overreacting?  Saves me the research of looking them up.

I like him well enough in the '80s and '90s. But really just like Eddie Murphy, if I never see either of them again, I'm fine with that too.
