he doesn't take the L very much at all, but I do think he means well.  I just think his politics suck, but what do you expect when you are indoctrinated from California.  Same thing with unions-Dems have their backs.  same thing with most teachers or those on the government dole.   they like government because their paycheck is dependent on them.  Dems will take care of blacks.   Yea right.

None of us take the L much IMO, and I also think he means well.  Also I mostly disagree with his politics as well, except where liberal ventures into libertarian.

I just don't get much out of a pure echo chamber, so I appreciate the contrarian views and the opportunities to discuss them.

He's only far left when compared to the heavy far right presence here. He believes staunchly in free market economics, which is not historically a leftist position.

We are all products of the media we consume to some extent. Tim has a (IMO) pollyannish view of some media outlets, but I tend to agree with most of his opinions on mass media.

Everyone here acts like the smartest guy in the room at times, even those that are obviously idiots.

I don't find him to be dishonest. He takes a lot of positions and some end up being contradictory. But when approached with his own inconsistencies, he'll either explain or man up.

Tim, like @Dozer FBG, bring a lot of hate on themselves for having opinions contrary to the majority here. But both are good dudes I'd enjoy having cocktails with, as are the vast majority of GC posters.
