Why should I care about Hunter Biden?

Recommended Posts

There’s about to be House hearings on Biden’s son. I’m honestly confused about what he did or didn’t do. Something about his server? Why should I care? How does this affect me, or the USA?

Unless Joe was involved in something illegal while VP, you shouldn’t.

It’s been made clear this is about the president.  You should welcome it to put to rest all of this speculation.  If he’s clean he will be cleared. Like Trump was.

All he has to do is not show up after 7 years and then say 'I don't remember' 468 times like Don Jr. did.

See, there's a lot to learn from Repubs.

Of course I’ve heard of it. But it’s always been confusing to me. I don’t get why it’s important.

Made his crackhead son and brothers bag men and people paid for access. It appears to have paid off.

What kind of access? For what? Seems really unlikely and even if it happened, impossible to prove. And how would investigating it be good for the country? Are you hoping to remove Biden and have President Kamala?

FTR I asked the exact same questions when Democrats were investigating Trump. So many of these hearings are a waste of time. The public wants both Democrats and Republicans to deal with inflation, the debt, climate change, the border, etc. Not this stuff.

It’s been suggested that Joe took bribes through Hunter from Ukraine and China for “favors”. What favors? Joe’s been very consistent in his policy towards both Ukraine and China for years. So what is this truly about?

And that’s another one that never made sense to me. Trump’s policy towards the Saudis was no different from Obama or Bush or Clinton (or Biden for that matter.) We’re always buddies, we ignore it when they do something bad, and we hope they buy our aircraft in order to keep our aerospace industry afloat.
So what if Jared got a loan from the Saudis? It didn’t change anything.

This is the shell game….

First pretend the Hunter laptop is fake, why? Because discrediting it was integral because Joe and he crew feared it.

They knew it was real, hence the fake people used to discredit it. That is the red flag that this thing is damaging. Coupled with Joe lying about knowing anything about the Hunter business deals.

Now they switched gears to the “ so what” tactic….and they will ride this as long as it takes.

Joes idiot son documented his illegal and illicit acts. He is a bad criminal and certainly a royal pain in the ass for Joe.

This laptop could eventually show us the link between Biden family wealth and foreign actors, whether we can tie it all into any actions of Joe arcing his self interests through exploitation of his position is another matter.

I am convinced the media and the DOJ will protect him as best they can, despite any illegal acts.

Tim asks the question most people will be asking, even though Tim already knows what the Right-wing insinuations are.. Believe it or not, most people don’t follow right-wing narratives around the “big guy” or anything else. I believe these investigations will not help the GOP. The people interested in this are already gonna vote Republican. And if the only way to follow these investigations is to already be “in the know,” they will look pathetic. Imagine anytime you did something with a group of people who had their own in-jokes. They aren’t funny unless you were already in on the joke.

Pretty decent take from Jennifer Rubin on why this will be ineffective:

Quote

First, most voters don’t want lawmakers to spend time spinning scandals. A recent CNN poll found that 67 percent of voters (including 74 percent of independents) don’t like the way Republicans are handling their job. Seventy-three percent (including 48 percent of Republicans and 76 percent of independents) say Republicans aren’t paying enough attention to the country’s real issues. Likewise, a CBS poll earlier this month found that less than one-third of Americans want Republicans to spend time investigating President Biden. Every hearing that Republicans devote to distractions highlights their failure to tackle real issues.

Second, it is hard for Republicans to explain to an audience not already seeped in right-wing conspiracy theories what they heck they are talking about. At least the Benghazi matter and the bollixed Fast and Furious program were events worthy of oversight. The cockamamie Hunter Biden “scandal,” by contrast, is a mix of convoluted, illogical accusations, as former FBI special agent Asha Rangappa explains in a Substack post.

In an actual hearing, unlike an interview with a captive right-wing media host, one has to explain the alleged scandal in a way that is comprehensible to those who haven’t spent hours soaking up bogus talking points. Democratic committee members will be able to channel what average voters are thinking: “What in the world are you talking about?”

I have yet to see any compelling evidence that Joe did anything wrong. Maybe he did. I would say that Republicans better hope he did, or this thing will make them look even more incompetent than they already do, but it doesn't seem like they care. In lieu of attempting to actually govern, this version of the GOP will always opt instead for ludicrous spectacle.

There were mountains of evidence against Trump. He should have been impeached at least a third time for obstruction of the Mueller probe and been removed from office. Hopefully the DOJ can ensure he dies in prison like he deserves.

See, this is why I get confused.  This is why you have an investigation - to dig into things.  If they don't find anything, my hope is that they will wrap it up and look like adults.  Otherwise they'll come off as whiny children...

... like the Russian pee gate where the compelling evidence was a faked Democrat-created dossier, probably still going on regardless, or

... like Jan 6, two years and running, not wrapped up, still hanging out there, all of that compelling evidence tells us that Trump was upset about losing the election and he told people to go down to the Capitol to protest.  Bookmark this for a year from now, we'll see where it is at.

Also the ending of your second quote is in some ways the quiet part out loud.  "OMB is evil, we don't know exactly why, but gott dang it just keep digging until you find something, anything, an overdue library book if you need to, just find SOMETHING to indict him with$#@!@#$#@!!"  Sad and pathetic.  :(

In terms of politics how did that work out for the Democrats? Trump lost, mostly because of Covid, partly because of people becoming sick of his shtick. But I don’t believe there was a single voter in America who said “I voted for Trump in 2016 but then I learned about the Russia investigation and that changed my mind!”

I agree with this, mostly. And while I do believe that Trump is guilty of a few crimes, the investigations by Congress didn’t amount to a hill of beans. They almost never do.

It’s almost impossible to use Congressional hearings to derail a President. It happened exactly once in our history: Watergate, and even then Nixon and his staff had to behave like total morons or it never would have resulted in anything. In the 50 years since Nixon we’ve had one investigation after another, one scandal after another: Iran/Contra, Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky, Colin Powell and Iraq, Fast and Furious, Benghazi, Russia, Ukraine, Jan 6, now Hunter Biden. That’s off the top of my head; I’m sure I’m missing quite a few. What has been the result? Has the public ever cared about ANY of this?

Biden quid pro quo'd the company investigating the corporation his son sat on.  FACTS

Hunter got a 5 million $ forgivable loan from China, and Joe got 10% TBD

thats why we need an investigation, if Joe got paid by a foreign country in order to promote this China first policy he should be hung

I have to laugh. I can just imagine how hysterical with glee you were during all of the Trump bullshit investigations.  I bet you were giving play by play each time assuring everyone over at FHG’s that they had hno me this time, again and again and again.

You’re wrong. I was not gleeful at all. In fact, I predicted that each Trump investigation would come to nothing. And that most of them were a waste of time and taxpayer money.

Pathological liar guy is back.

Go to FBG Forums and click the magnifying glass. You dont even have to be a member or signed in. "Impeachment" by "timscock"

Here is an example of you giving play by play, hysterically.

Wow. Bipartisan impeachment! Romney votes to impeach.

Donald Trump is the Archie Griffin of Impeachment!

Impeachment did not fail. And I am fine thanks. Happy Valentine’s Day!

I'll just pick 2 things proving Trump deserved impeachment:  Asking a foreign government (Ukraine) to provide political information on opponents AND asking Georgia to 'find 11,799 votes to show him the winner of the state which he clearly was not.

You wanted to know; now you know.
