Kyle Rittenhouse faces civil lawsuit

I can't imagine a kid his age has much standing between him and bankruptcy, though maybe he got paid for his story.

Outside of the big bucks he is probably receiving for speaking at conservative, NRA and gun lobby events. I haven't seen any specific numbers, but I imagine he is doing pretty well for himself financially.

I wish he would sue some of the media outlets like that other kid did.....

We cannot overlook the role of the media in fabricating the white supremacist narrative, and in this thread we can see the consequence of that kind of act.  That people seem to actually believe that excrement is just , depressing....

Don't be dumb.  Lol, what am I thinking.

His net worth is listed as 50K.

That being said he's just a kid and all he has to do is sell a book....then use that money to sue sue sue.  🤑

He needs to wait until the statute of limitations are up on lawsuits like this one.  In Wisconsin, it's 3 years.  I don't know when that clock starts, but it's in his best interest to wait 3 years after his trial was over.  I can't imagine him having all that much money right now.  I'm sure he got paid from some stuff he did, but I don't imagine it was a enough to allow him to rest easily.

ETA: I looked it up... it's 3 years from the incident.  Since the incident took place on August 15th, 2020, the clock will expire in about 6.5 months.  I expect this lawsuit is testing the waters from the other 2 victims' family.  My guess is that this gets rushed through the process so that there's time available for the other families to file charges as well.

And all Mr. Sandmann got was an out of court settlement which I believe was settled just for its nuisance value (I figured $100k max with his attorneys' getting anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2). I am sure he didn't get anything near to the multi-millions he was originally seeking.

I googled the question.  The most common answer seems to be $50,000 but with the potential yet for a payday for his story.  Me, I would have thought selling his story closer to when it was hot would have been the move, but I do not know about such things.

he went there determined to shoot somebody. And he did.

And God bless him for it. Wiped 2 scumbag, criminal, non-contributing members of society off the face of the earth.

Joseph Don Rosenbaum: 11 counts of child molestation and inappropriate sexual activity with children, including anal rape, masturbation, oral sex, and showing minors pornography. The victims were five boys ranging in age from nine to 11 years old.

Anthony Huber: Once threatened to “gut” his brother “like a pig” while holding a butcher’s knife to his stomach. Huber grabbed his brother by the neck, dug his nails in and choked him for approximately ten seconds. He put a knife to his brother’s left ear and his brother felt it cut.

“I’m going to burn the house down with all you f—kers in it”

Yup, it's a real shame of those 2 aren't around anymore :)

You could be right.  My initial thought was for him to wait until the statute of limitations were up on wrongful death suits against him.  Had he gotten millions for that book, he'd have been sued days after the signing.  Not sure if that would've helped or hurt him.  My guess is that it would hurt and that his best course of action was to wait for this trial and the other two that are likely to follow.  That way his name and story are back in the headlines.  Plus, it allows for more material.  If he's smart (and I'm not even sure he is), the main parts of the book is already done.

I think you have the handle on this.  Everything you say makes sense to me.

We should not hate him for it.  This is not entirely his fault.  He has been manipulated and indoctrinated. No one is born like this, this kind of thing is learned....

Hmmm.   Did he know this about them before he shot them?

I am not OK sidestepping our laws, due process, and courts just because in this case the outcome was he took out a couple of pedos.

He didn't take them out because they're pedos.  He took them out because they were trying to kill him.

Fair point.   Just seemed like he was saying something else, but I was wrong there.   Bad post.

I think his point was just good riddance.  I don't think he was saying Rittenhouse should take the law in to his own hands.  Obviously, none of us knew their background when they were trying to kill Kyle Rittenhouse though.  But isn't it interesting how often people involved in these types of incidents who get taken out turn out to have these types of backgrounds.

I don't imagine it's a lot of soccer moms and boy scouts are out looting and rioting.

I was going to post something similar to this, but you already took care of it.

Why is everything in America political? Why does everyone have to take sides

Unfortunately ed it has come to that. You remember the 80s in the Boston area. We all lived in harmony in the 80s but then Rodney King got the snot beat out of him. The commies, who failed in infiltrating the working class, moved on to the civil rights movement. They needed a new grievance group to carry out their 50 year in the making plan of destroying America and here we are. Commies controlling all of our institutions. It’s why Tim thinks Kyle Rittenloser shot 2 black kids. Plus he’s a leftist and they are retards. So buckle up and choose a side.

The legacy media is a threat to democracy. Not a single mention that the GOP ran a Somali Muslim against Omar.

What are you talking about? She ran against Cicely Davis, a Christian born in Rochester, NY.

No the evidence was not overwhelming. There simply wasn’t enough evidence to convict him. As I wrote at the time I would have acquitted him too. You have to be able to prove it in court, that’s our system. But I believe he was in fact guilty of murder.

Sorry you were out of work; hopefully you’re in a better situation now.

There was video, what additional evidence do you need?

He has a superpower which is knowing absolutely what others think and how many have what beliefs.  It allows him to speak in absolutes many times and in uncontrovertable (so he thinks) sweeping generalizations other times.  It is not arrogance or ignorance, it is a special gift, a superpower.  Try not to be jealous of it.

The superpower is called polling:

https://morningconsult.com/2021/11/22/rittenhouse-verdict-poll/

About half of America, including myself and the vast majority of Democrats, believe Rittenhouse was guilty of murder. The other half, and the vast majority of Republicans, do not. There have been several polls taken about this.

As I wrote earlier the only reason my views on this matter seem shocking or crazy in this forum is because this forum is mostly filled with conservatives. And that’s fine; I’m good with it. But you guys should realize that your views do not represent the majority- only about half.

Myself, I don't want the inexperienced and untrained who are not coordinated with law enforcement to enter riot zones.  I believe they provoke rather than calm.  I believe they add a dangerous, unaccounted for element to law enforcements many challenges in a riot.  Everything this kid did was foolish.  A verdict of not guilty to murder is not a verdict this kid is not an idiot.  Me, I do not lend financial support to idiots, except unwillingly through my taxes given to welfare addicts..

As I recall matters mostly around the perimeter of the main disturbance and primarily providing security for fire rescue called into the matter.

Do you think the taxpaying citizens whose businesses resided inside the area were entitled to have their businesses protected by the police force they helped fund?  Especially in light of the fact that there was a curfew in place IIRC, so no one should have been inside that perimeter except police anyways.
