No, they’re actively legally prevented from doing so, thanks to several California laws.

The Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have a plan to clear away dead and dying trees, specifically those infested with beetles and dying as a result, as well as clearing away overgrowth of brush.

They want to do this for between 2,500 and 20,000 acres of forest, where there are an estimates 127 million dead and dying trees, from 35 California counties, from Siskiyou to Santa Barbara.

Compare that to the 2018 fires which destroyed 100,000 acres of forest — we could have saved 80% of that (or more) through proper land management.

Without strong action, the Shot Hole Borer Beetle, which is a fungus-farming beetle, is set to kill as many as 2/5ths of the trees in the Los Angeles area:

The disease it causes is called “Fusarium dieback”.

I went to the liquor store yesterday. There was one car in the lot with the typical bumper stickers loser virtue signaling lefties put on their cars like proud democrat, blm and coexist and I’m with her. I went inside and the woman paying at the register had a mask on. Guess who got in the car with the bumper stickers?

I think it makes a lot more sense wearing a mask while the air quality is that terrible compared to wearing a mask outside during covid.  I wouldn't fault anyone for wearing a mask outside yesterday while in the NE.

I saw a bunch of people wearing masks this morning, and agree it makes more sense now than covid.  Still, I'm not gonna fault anyone for wearing a mask, people can do what they want.  It's the people that wore masks and talked about how they're saving lives or shunned me for not wearing a mask that I took fault with.

I did read something this morning about possible arson.  Would be a damn shame.  I think this happened in CA once.
