Escape convict in Pennsylvania now has a rifle

Pennsylvania manhunt updates

The escaped Pennsylvania killer Danelo Cavalcante was reportedly seen Monday night, Lt. Colonel George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police said Tuesday during a news conference.

Here's a timeline of Monday night's events that he shared:

8:00 p.m. ET: A motorist reported seeing a male along the south side of Fairview Road, west of Route 100. The motorist turned the vehicle around “in an effort to verify what she saw,” but the individual was gone. Law enforcement formed a perimeter around the area.

Police found footprints in mud that matched those of Cavalcante’s prison shoes. They tracked the footprints and found his prison shoes abandoned. A nearby homeowner reported a pair of work boots had been stolen from her porch.

10:10 p.m. ET: A call received from a resident in South Coventry Township indicated a “short Hispanic male, no shirt, and wearing dark pants had entered his garage while the homeowner was in it.” Cavalcante grabbed a .22 rifle that was leaning in the corner of the garage. Homeowner drew a pistol and fired at the fugitive as he fled with the rifle.

Pennsylvania State Police responded and secured that scene. At that time, a green sweatshirt and white t-shirt believed to be owned by Cavalcante was found in the driveway. Search perimeter was expanded to include that area.

Overnight: Searches within perimeter were conducted by tactical teams from multiple agencies.

Lock up your firearms. I'm Pro-2A, but I'm not wildly polarized to no ends about it.

If this story is correct ( hard to say at this point), then this convict and pure threat to everyone around him is armed because someone couldn't bother to either own or use a gun safe.

Let's also not pretend on what is going to happen here. If law enforcement finds this guy, and there are no cameras around, and he attempts to surrender, they'll just execute him to be sure. I'm not saying openly if I agree or disagree with that, just that the situation has devolved to this.

But, on the flip side, this situation does also highlight that the homeowner having that pistol might have saved his own life too. More and more lawful citizens are buying guns. And IMHO they should, given the current state of the country, but, the caveat being to do so responsibly.

Or at least keep it in the house and not the garage…

This guy supposedly is quite a survivalist. The way he crab-walked up the wall to escape was impressive. Catching this guy is going to be tough.

Have they thought to try a crab trap?

Or, more accurately, because he left his garage door open. An unloaded gun locked in a safe is of no use in an emergency.

Too bad this guy was a sh!t shot with a sidearm.

Should have went to filthy Philly. It’s disgusting there, but he could have blended in with the zombies.

Nothing wrong with keeping your garage door open while you're in it, although I guess it may not be the best idea if there's an escaped convict on the loose in the area.

But he should keep the gun in the house and not the garage

Eagles fan of course

Dude should have grabbed a leaf blower or a weed wacker from the garage instead of a gun.  With that as a disguise he could have worked his way out of the area.  No one looks twice at an illegal edging a lawn.

Why can't you make that up?  It's Pennsylvania, Eagles shirts are everywhere.  :dunno:

Gutterboy is still trying to pass himself off as a Giants fan. He’s not,  but if he was he would be a mush. Gets nothing right.

the correct move is to steal some junker RV or van from a homeless person.  homeless people are invisible in society, so you can break into their RV or van and kill them and no-one will ever know or care.  then you have a place to stay and can drive off whereever.  theres lots of them in santa barbara.  people living inside.  the smell of dope is strong around their vans.  if i wanted to disappear, i could just break in, kill the guy, and drive off.  he wouldnt be missed.  in fact, people would be glad the smell of dope is gone.
