I'm changing it up this year, usually it's pizza, this year I'm in the mood for lasagna.

Have friends that do this every year for Christmas.

Smoked turkey.

venison roast

candied carrots and pecans

whipped sweet potatoes

mashed potatoes (garlic) and gravy

Steamed green beans and sweet peas with a bacon and vinegar dressing

Baby spinach salad with blueberries, vinegrette dressing

cranberry sauce with pomegranet seeds

Dressing, pretty standard recipe.  I like mine with some sauted mushrooms tossed in.

Rolls which never get eaten. (That's alright, I use them to make sliders the next day)

Pumpkin, pecan, dutch apple, and sweet potato with caramel drizzle pies.

We have some rose and white wine for the wine drinkers and a few kinds of beer for the beer drinkers.  My wife also has some cranberry margarita recipe she wants to serve.  She likes the idea that they will havericecubes made from concentated cranberry juice.  It sounds festive to her so we have trays of concentrated cranberry juice hardening up even now. (we had to buy ice cube trays.  We have not had any in mabe 20 years.

Time to get the leafs down for the table, bring in the extra chairs, and my wife just told me a few folks mentioned they are hoping I will make a few of my orange cornish game hens stuffed with wild rice so I guess I can through a few on if the store is open. If not i can get a few pheasants out of the deep freeze and add them. i'm also going to have to bring in the long folding table and the chairs for that.  We have 16 coming and may pick up a straggler or two.

Is the pudding one of those traditional 'cold-storage-for-2-weeks' puddings?

I've been up since 4:30 to start the charcoal and been smoking a turkey since 5:30.  Looks delicious, up to 135-140 internal temp and should be ready in a few hours. Swing by.

Happy Turkey Day

Turkey

Best Stuffing Recipe (we don’t add the nuts or fruit instead add a bit extra chicken broth) I look forward to this stuffing every year as we only make it one day.

Taters / Gravy

Green Beans and Brussels

Apple Crisp

Break out the best booze we have…Red Wine TBD likely a Grenache or a lighter blend.

Night cap of likely Manhattans or something poured neat if a very nice bottle happens to show up.

Still dunno why Turkey got top billing.   Odds are more likely that the first Thanksgiving involved lobster more than turkey.

Sooooo many left overs. Way too much food. Everyone went home with leftovers and my refrigerator is still full.
