The only reason is sheer hypocrisy.  They fight against “hate speech” only when they agree. Then shy away when not.

It’s two different conversations / topics being conflated. 

1.  Both laws in society and code of conducts on American college campuses around free speech.  This is a general, 3000 foot above, macro conversation on where those lines are drawn regarding the first amendment.  This is a great conversation to have but not what this exact thread is about. 

2.  The second topic, and what this thread is about, is why current laws or codes of conducts are meted out unequally.  No matter if a person disagrees with a law, at THE VERY LEAST, it should be applied equally.  These elite university leaders exposed themselves in this regard.  Thats the point of this thread and topic.

I will say this, I don’t want these University Presidents who outed themselves resign or “cancelled”.  I’d rather them look at the tape, have some self reflection and change their ways.  Grow as leaders.  That is the best outcome.
