What an incredible embarrassment this has turned into for the local liberals. It's not too late, apologize, admit your stupidity and move on.

This is what you're upset with him for wanting removed from school libraries. Know that the book is illustrated.

Now that you know the context of what he's talking about, do you still feel he has no point in wanting to make it unavailable to children in a school library? Or would you agree that such a book should not be available in a school library?

It moved

In all seriousness, I was surprised to hear that those were the words of an illustrated children’s book for small children.

So I looked it up and, turns out, that’s not quite true.

It is from a novel intended for teenagers. Yes it is a graphic novel. But this would not be in elementary school libraries so I believe it is misleading.

In addition it apparently has been pulled from several schools. https://nypost.com/2023/09/12/senate-book-ban-hearing-gets-nsfw-with-sexually-graphic-reading/amp/

I remember in the 90s when there was a huge national kerfuffle over some book where a kid had two dads. It was obviously bullsh1t. So I’m pretty skeptical of this stuff now.

Librarians should be responsible about what they’re putting in school libraries, but I also know these conservatives are 100% not above lying or blowing things way out of any rational sense of proportion, to score political points and get their dumbass base riled up.

That concludes my thoughts on “porn in schools.” HTH

So what? Doesn’t change the fact he was Epstein’s best bud and a huge creep:

Funny, liberals keep talking about Epstein (a liberal), but it’s liberals that are suppressing the information.

Liberals are so stupid. Who focking cares about liberal universities and stupid liberal teachers?

If you want to make a good living and avoid all the political liberal bullcrap, then just go to trade schools and out earn the flaky liberal bltches.

Many people have said Biden was so creepy that Epstein could not trust him around the trafficked kids so they made him stay in Delaware.

This is pretty much where I am.   I can't think of a rational person I know who would have an issue with something like Gender Queer not being available in a school library. It's a clear cut as you can get, IMO.   Where the conversation starts to derail is that as with the bolded, often (at least for me) there is a huge falsehood with the story when I read it or see people talking about.  For example "it's being taught in schools" when it was a book in a library, and never suggested or taught in a classroom.   It's framed as being in a younger school, but it was actually a High School.  Things like that.

I usually have a question for each side of the debate that never seems to get answered.    For the right:  if it's JUST about sexuality in materials, why is it that when I look at the list of books being pulled and flagged is it 90% LGBTQ materials?   We can't deny there is a reason people wonder if you are anti-lgbtq if it is so one sided.   For the left:  WTF do most of the lgbtq materials on the lists come in the form of graphic novels and/or feature a heavy focus on sex and offensive pics?   I am open to materials of a variety being available to check out in schools, but some common sense must apply and I've seen too many examples of graphic novels where they aren't appropriate for the age being discussed.

It appears as though she resigned, likely from pressure due to her lack of opposing genocide.

So a hyper liberal gets canned by other hyper liberals and it’s conservatives fault. Got it.  Think about it.  If they didn’t , MAGA would have launched another boycott like Bud Light. Penn donations from MAGA would dry up.

The marketplace of ideas is a savage and brutal land.  The weak, the sensitive do not do well in that gladitorial pit.  Universities once welcomed the exchange of ideas.  They wanted ideas to stand scrutiny in the full light of day. They wanted some to be nourished and others to wither under the noon day sun of scrutiny.   Then universities decided to indoctrinate as opposed to educate.  They came up with speech codes.  They chose to go beyond banning and punishing that very limited class of prohibited speech which was exhortations of immediate violence.  They also tried to blur the very definitions of "immediate" and "violence".  They blurred all parameters and now they are paying a long overdue price.  The monster they birthed has now turned on its creator.

Universities now, essentially, insist on loyalty oaths to the orthodoxy to become accredited by them.  How sad.

I wonder if Kornbluth is on the block.  She only started in January this past year, which could be good or bad.  I'm confident they suck hard on the Arab oil money teet, as they have admitted with China and Russia in the past.  But there are also donors like Stephen Schwarzman (Blackstone founder), who gave $350M to form the MIT college of computing.  His politics are conservative and his name sounds sorta... ethnic.

Also that Dershowitz article that @Strikelinked earlier nailed the problem, at MIT anyway:  DEI has taken over like a parasite.  I sense that Kornbluth has relied too much on counsel from Melissa Nobles, the MIT Chancellor who comes from a Humanities background, as you'd expect for a tech-focused institution.   Her areas of study include:

Quote

Nobles’ teaching includes graduate courses in transitional justice, ethnic politics, and nationalism as well as undergraduate courses in comparative politics, Latin American studies, ethnic conflict in world politics, and social movements in comparative perspective.

Her international, comparative research focuses on restorative justice in light of ethnic and racial conflicts.

This is the woman spearheading the effort to address antisemitism on campus (and Islamophobia, of course!).
