That’s not the only choices you have; only if you’re a gullible tool.

I live in an actual contentious state (AZ) so I don't have the luxury, like you in OR, to throw my vote away on a 3rd party candidate who has roughly 0.0% chance of winning.  OR would elect Biden if he died tomorrow.

Well, I could, but that would be irresponsible, and only give me the ability, no matter which of the 2wins, to go on low-rent FF message boreds and crow "well I didn't vote for him!"

Throw it away how? They all count the same. By your assessment tens of millions of votes are thrown away if their candidate doesn’t win. That kind of weird “Team Politics” is how we got here. Wasting your vote is knowing the person you’re voting for is a shitbag who has a well more than zero chance of not having -all mental cheese left in their noggin, and still saying “yep, that’s my candidate.”

It’s not a wager. It’s a vote. You can strategize an election, but you can’t strategize a vote. It’s 200-odd million people with a +1 that guy, 0 everybody else. Cumulative voting franchise is a powerful thing but pretending it’s a rational exercise to validate absolute shithousery in office at BEST…nah.

The Vermont Republican Party is prohibited from backing a candidate with a felony conviction.

According to the state party's publicly posted rules: "The state committee will not support or promote any candidate for elective office who … is a convicted felon."

As MAGAturds continue to whine about their lost freedoms - never mind that they have taken away rights or want to take away rights of women regarding abortion and the LGBTQ community, among other things - and falsely claim that Democrats are pushing toward authoritarianism, here is a chilling point-by-point account of Clownzo's platform and what he'd do if re-elected, and so much of it is right out of the dictator playbook. This country is focked if he gets back in office.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/06/07/us/politics/trump-policy-list-2025.html

Quote

Have foes indicted for challenging him politically

He has cited the precedent of his own indictments to declare that if he became president again and someone challenged him politically, he could say, “Go down and indict them.”

So much for people exercising their free speech to criticize him.

Quote

 Target journalists for prosecution

Kash Patel, a Trump confidant, has threatened to target journalists for prosecution if Mr. Trump returns to power.

Just like they do in Russia, China, Iran and elsewhere.

Quote

Increase presidential power

Mr. Trump and his associates have a broad goal to alter the balance of power by increasing the president’s authority over every part of the federal government that currently operates independently of the White House. Mr. Trump has said that he will:

1. Bring independent agencies under presidential control

Congress has set up various regulatory agencies to operate independently from the White House. Mr. Trump has vowed to bring them under presidential control, setting up a potential court fight.

2. Revive the practice of “impounding” funds

He has vowed to return to a system under which the president has the power to refuse to spend money that Congress has appropriated for programs the president doesn’t like.

3. Strip employment protections from tens of thousands of longtime civil servants

During Mr. Trump’s presidency, he issued an executive order making it easier to fire career officials and replace them with loyalists. Mr. Biden rescinded it, but Mr. Trump has said that he would reissue it in a second term.

4. Purge officials from intelligence agencies, law enforcement, the State Department and the Pentagon

Mr. Trump has disparaged the career work force at agencies involved in national security and foreign policy as an evil “deep state” he intends to destroy.

5. Appoint lawyers who would bless his agenda as lawful

Politically appointed lawyers in the first Trump administration sometimes raised objections to White House proposals. Several of his closest advisers are now vetting lawyers seen as more likely to embrace aggressive legal theories about the scope of his power.

He wants to be a dictator with Putin-like power.

Last year, Texas passed a law that attempts to make it more difficult — and less desirable — to look at porn online. H.B. 1181 requires platforms that offer sexually explicit content to verify that users are 18 or older, either by verifying users’ ages directly with government-issued IDs or paying a commercial vendor to do it for them.

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/08/opinion/byron-donalds-black-families-slavery.html

Quote

American chattel slavery was practically defined by the fundamental instability of Black families. The institution rested on the expropriation of the reproductive capacities of the enslaved. Men and women were forced to have children who were then sold for profit. Families were torn apart as a matter of course. Natal alienation was the rule.

The electoral college map looks pretty dire for Biden right now.

He basically has to sweep Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. That gets him to exactly 270 EC votes without a single one to spare.

All three of those are essentially dead even according to polls.

I don’t think there’s any way he’s getting Georgia or Arizona this go around. Put em in the red camp imo.

Nevada, I dunno. The polls are pretty bad for him there, but that’s a state where getting out the vote can really make all the difference.

But even so, he’d still have to sweep the upper Midwest.

Factually he is one, yes.

So was Hitler.

(Not saying Trump is Hitler, just that it obviously can be overcome so far as seizing power goes.)

I think that's a pretty accurate assessment if you believe the polling in NV and AZ especially.  If you flip GA/AZ/NV back to Trump from last cycle, that's enough for Trump to be at 268.  All 3 of those states have been polling pretty solidly for Trump.  I'm most skeptical of NV but it seems to be polling the furthest toward him of all those.  I don't think there's any doubt about the ME district staying red, but there's two polls I found for the Omaha NE district and one was in Biden's favor and one for Trump.  That's the path to a 269-269 situation if that went Trump and Biden won the 3 upper MW states.  I don't see Trump winning that district though without having enough strength to at least win one of the others.

It’s way too early, especially in Arizona.

Actually the news looks good for Biden this morning:

https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/amp/rcna155882

The conviction has hurt Trump, no doubt about that. Next up is the debate in which, I predict, Biden will sound cogent and alert and Trump will sound insane and remind voters why they don’t want him.

I still believe that, by November, Biden will be decisively ahead. We should all hope so or this nation is screwed.

It seems unlikely to me that NV would vote for Trump but not AZ given their history.  I know polling is flipped where NV is the more red of the two but that's never been the case previously.

I believe the data out of Arizona. I think it’s still the kind of state that the Dem candidate wins only when they’re especially strong, and that is not Biden this go around.

Nevada has always been notoriously difficult to poll and I think there will be a huge swell of blue votes among the casino workers and so forth again. I’d say it’s a toss up.

Georgia may reverse itself. Lots of rednecks in Georgia. It’s a miracle they voted for Biden last time. Too many idiots in that state. Look at Marjorie Taylor Greene.

But the folks in Arizona and Nevada are a lot smarter. Right now they’re pissed off about inflation and immigration, but they’ll come around. They’re too smart to vote for Trump, not gonna happen.

Some minor shift among a notoriously fickle (and not likely to actually vote) segment. I’m not seeing much of a game changer and I wouldn’t be surprised if that shift was completely ephemeral.

People have locked in beliefs about these candidates. I just can’t see much that will really change that. Even a focking felony conviction doesn’t matter. If you’re a Trumper you think it’s illegitimate. If you’re a moderate that leans Trump (for whatever reason I will never understand), you already know he’s a piece of shiat but you don’t like Biden either and you’re butthurt about trannies and/or inflation.

I’d like to believe there will be some big shift towards Biden but I don’t think it’s happening. People know Trump says crazy stuff, it’s not like they’re going to suddenly say “hey that guy sounds like a nut.”
