Why is nothing being done to address public school attendance crash?

Recommended Posts

After the pandemic, regular attendance in public schools crashed. Went from like 90% of kids attending on regular basis to 60% in my area.

Now it is coming back up in some, but not all, areas, but slowly for the most part.

How come there haven’t been any national initiatives to address this? It is a problem everywhere as far as I understand.

So where’s the bill offering federal dollars to hire more truancy officers? Maybe some kind of public education campaign about the problem and encouraging people to return their kids to school? I dunno, gotta be other solutions out there as well I’d think.

The ones that will be needing government handouts in a few years, just like their mother and baby daddy. Thus, future residents of the modern plantation.  Like LBJ said…….

Nothing is being done about the housing and opioid crises either, among many other things that nothing is being done about. :(

The housing crisis is being addressed. By bringing  in millions of migrants all at once, that reduced supply, that drives up the cost of rent and the value of dwellings, thus making the donors richer.

Yes but this one cannot be undone (which is true of the opioid crisis as well, but not some other major issues). You will have a generation of people where 1/3rd basically did not go to school :shocking:

As I understand it has hit poor areas much harder. Basically the same areas that were already struggling except now a lot of kids just aren’t going at all. Yes I’m sure a lot are minorities, which is where you’re going with this since you’re a racist piece of sh1t, but also poor white students as well. Regardless, they deserve and should be getting a public education no matter their skin color or wealth. And it’ll be bad for us down the road as a society if all these people aren’t socialized and don’t have the means for getting even a basic job

How about it's time to realize the public school system sucks! People discovered this during the Covid sham and realized their kids can succeed being taught at home. But teachers "give us more money so we can be better"...lol. Fock the public school system.

Because Democrats HATE our minorities. They're too worried about ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS 😞

Why would you need more truancy officers, pre Covid vs post Covid?

Parents are doing the right thing, schools are teaching gender change to grade school students,  rainbow people reading books to kids about be a rainbow.   And of course kids, shhhh kids your parents don’t need to know, that right there equals run.

Schools are of satan today.   Good job parents, I appreciate you for doing the right thing.

Also Christians schools in Reno, have grown.   Thank you Jesus.  Indeed.

Thanks.

God bless OP,  I HOPE.

You nailed it. Parents were probably tired of Pedocrats not teaching, but instead Grooming kids for their perverse fantasies of a Shemale civilization.

Don't kids get suspended or expelled after so many unexcused absences? That's how it is here.

If this is the right wing response, doesn’t this mean we can’t trust you to govern anything? I mean, all you bring to the table is batsh1t extreme partisan nonsense.

And what is your solution, btw?

No public schools? Do you really think that’s a good idea?

Did I say "no public schools"??  No, I did not. I said " the public school SYSTEM sucks"  The system allows a pedophilia attitude and needs to be scrapped. Throwing good money towards that needs to be stopped.

So you sound like a lunatic and you’re saying it “needs to be scrapped” which, yes, appears to me to be advocating for no public schools. At least until your white christian nationalist theological system is built from the ground up.

You are not a serious person.

Right wingers generally do not seem to be serious people these days.

Please prove me wrong.

So the problem is they’re not going to school and the solution is make it so they can’t go to school ever again.

Do you guys ever think anything out?

I gave a couple ideas in the OP.

But I’m sure there are smarter people than me with better ideas.

To me the real issue is no one is even trying.

And laying this at the Democrats’ feet is rich. So far all I’ve seen from the right in here is “good, kids shouldn’t be going! “ and “murder the public schools altogether! :overhead: “

So yeah, democrats take some blame as well but this is an issue everyone has failed to address.

The right has been pushing school choice for decades.

If the public school in their community is low quality and/or has a bad reputation, parents go searching for alternatives.

So you want them to go to school, they don't want want to go to school but you don't want to deter them from not going???

Does it ever end with you Pedocrats?? Are we coddling everyone and everything?

Realistically, we all know that’s just killing public schools by a different name. We all know that.

However, it does at least have the trappings of a serious policy proposal, so I’ll go further.

I’m not sure how that would address the instant issue? It’s mostly poor folks that aren’t going. They’re not going to take the public school dollars to subsidize the private school they’re already paying for (which is who “school choice” benefits). Seems like this would only worsen the problem by drawing dollars out of those schools :dunno:

Plenty of poor kids overcome that obstacle.  Don't be that guy.

Why is it not being talked about?  You really have to ask this question?  It’s the same reason why no one talks about:

1. Black crime

2. Ridiculously high abortion rates

3. Cesspool “ghetto” culture

4. $63 billion in remittances sent to Mexico every year

5. The absence of black fathers

I could go on and on but you get the point.  The mainstream media in this country is overwhelmingly Liberal, and they suppress all these news stories because they show just how hopelessly broken Leftist policies are.

I did 5 mins of research so I'm an expert now.

Never heard of this issue.  Not an issue in my school district.

Looks like it's a post COVID thing, kids being used to sitting at home, don't want to go to school.

Also looks like the trend is reversing https://www.edweek.org/leadership/student-absenteeism-remains-at-a-crisis-level-but-shows-signs-of-rebounding/2023/10

What can be done?  Parenting.  Make your kid go to school. It's your job.

At one time, there was an unspoken national initiative. It was called parenting.

Sad that this has gone away in a substantial % of American households.

God bless.
