Four way intersections

Recommended Posts

What do you do here?

Just say fock it and plow through, hoping for the best? Thats usually my play.

Or do you sit there doing the whole no you go, you go, no I’m pretty sure you should go, oh okay I’ll go, oh whoops you finally decided to go! thing?

Some gal told me the other day it’s really simple, you just yield to the person on your right. Uh, doesn’t everybody have somebody on their right?

In NJ, it's your immediate right.  If all 4 vehicles meet at the same time, it's common courtesy.  I'm a guessing every state is like this.  If so, not sure what the issue is.

I don't think this is rocket surgery.

- I observe all three other intersections as I approach and assign myself the appropriate number in the order.

- If a person ahead of me doesn't go in one mississippi, I go.

- Tie goes to the person on the right.

- Tie to the person across from you:  If going straight or right, go.  If going left, yield.

OK maybe that is a little complicated.

Stop, and then go, easy.

Ephesians 4:15.  But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.  Indeed Amen Thanks

Roundabouts

Exactly.

I mean, I hate them.

Seems too British or something.

And baffles the crap outta 90% of the driving public.

But still, they put one in close to my childhood home.

Like with most things in this country, it's not too bad if everybody has at least a fundamental level of intellect.

...But it's 'Murca. 😡

But what if the car across from you is a green car and to the left of you is your aunt in her car?

And you’re running a little late, but you don’t really want to go to your brother in laws house anyway, but his focking wife will make a snide comment like the miserable b1tch she is, and you can tell your wife is anxious about that??

THEN who goes, genius?

This. Hand gestures play a big role regardless.

Last night I saw an accident
On the corner of Third and Green
Two cars collided and I got excited
Just being part of that scene

It was Mrs. Tom Walker and her beautiful daughter
Pamela, was driving the car
They got hit by a man in a lite blue sedan
Who had obviously been to a bar.

Chorus:
They don't know how lucky they are
They could have run into that tree
Got struck by a bolt of lightning
And raped by a minority.

It was a four way stop dilemma
We all arrived the same time
I yielded to the man to the right of me
And he yielded it right back to mine

Well, the yield went around and around and around
Till Pamela finally tried
Just then the man in the light blue sedan
Hit Pamela's passenger side.

Chorus:

Pamela hit her head on the mirror
Mrs Walker got a bump on the knee
The man hit himself in the face and said
"Why does this happen to me?"
The neighbors came out
And they gathered about
Saying "Hey! who hit who anyway?"
And the police arrived at a quarter to five
And pronounced all the victims "Okay".

Chorus:
Songwriters: John Prine

First to stop has the RoW. Tie goes to the person on the right. If anybody hesitates, go!

Be the alpha male and take control over the situation. All of the vehicles are stopped and ready to proceed.

I keep a set of white gloves in my car for this occasion.  I slap them on and jump out and start directing traffic.

And yet another simple concept you can’t grasp......no surprise.

On approach I tend to speed up so I can be obviously first, or slow down (as long as no one is right behind me) so I'm obviously last. When that fails, I mostly intuit (sometimes unsuccessfully) what we're all feeling (:D) the order is and proceed accordingly.

I don't trust that what I perceive to be a tie, or not a tie, is a shared perception.

So you can't handle a simple four way intersection and then you lash out at a person who laughs at you for it?

😆

You’re smart. I do this too.
