Allstate boycott?

Recommended Posts

Some folks on social media are calling for the boycott of Allstate Insurance after the CEO's pre-Sugar Bowl video clip.

I don't see why people are so outraged about this. It seems fine to me. Is it too woke or something?

Sugar Bowl Sponsor Allstate Faces Boycott Threats Over CEO's Remarks In Wake Of New Orleans Attack

Allstate insurance is facing boycott threats on social media after CEO and chairman Tom Wilson's controversial advice to Americans in the wake of Wednesday's terror attack in New Orleans.

Wilson addressed the Superdome crowd and ESPN's television audience prior to kickoff at Thursday's Allstate Sugar Bowl – a College Football Playoff quarterfinal postponed by the terrorist attack that killed 14 and injured more than 30 in the French Quarter early New Year's Day.

'Welcome to the Allstate Sugar Bowl,' Wilson began in a pre-recorded clip before Notre Dame's win over second-seeded Georgia. 'Wednesday, tragedy struck the New Orleans community. Our prayers are with the victims and their families.'

'We also need to be stronger together by overcoming an addiction to divisiveness and negativity. Join Allstate working in local communities all across America to amplify the positive, increase trust, and accept peoples' imperfections and differences. Together we win.'

Boycott Allstate because they are a horrible insurance company that absolutely hates to pay out claims and will fock over their policy holders (and vendors) at every opportunity.

Boycotting them for the above is dumb.

I don’t see why many MAGA folk seem to be triggered by the above quote.   Considering the attacker’s quote of a “war between the believers and disbelievers,” the message could be interpreted as being directed at other people who may be thinking of carrying out similar attacks moreso than it was at people mad about the attack.

Trying to tie that statement into a sales pitch to “join Allstate” was kinda cringe though.

So Maga is against positivity and unity? 🤣

Have we ever seen such a wide base of crybabies before in politics?

Liberals really like to whine and complain about other people's opinions and stances in life. They spend their lives just biitching about things they pretend to not care about.

So lame

I’m fairly certain he was talking to the people on the left. It is well past time they cut out the division and negativity and support the will of the people after Trumpslide.

Liberals are not the ones whining and complaining about this, it is almost all conservatives and MAGA folks (like Charlie Kirk).

See for yourself.

Where did I whine or complain about what the Allstate CEO said?

Reading is fundamental.

My exact words in the OP:

"I don't see why people are so outraged about this. It seems fine to me."

As far as I know, they're all that way. Even worse when it comes to things like long-term care/nursing home insurance. They love collecting the premiums over decades, but fight tooth and nail once the policyholder needs to use it. I sincerely wish the leaders of these companies nothing but the worst, and that includes their children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren

As for the Allstate CEO. He looks like he has 1 too many chromosome.

Divisiveness & negativity have always been around. It's almost as if he's giving the New Orleans terrorist a pass, because there's too much of it. Fock him as well.

Insurance companies are all pretty much the drizzling craps right off the bat.  If you ever want to have a major life regret, let one of their financial people get your contact information if they think you have money to invest.  They have all sorts of horrid products they want to sell you.  I made the mistake of doing a favor for a friend who had a relative who needed what he thought was a call as an intern, just to help him out.  I was just going to spend a few minutes with him, listening to him, give feedback, etc.  Turns out the guy was already hired, his boss was on the call, and that good deed has led to about a year's worth of harassment from them wanting me to meet, get on calls with them, etc.

I'd boycott the whole industry if I could.  I had them deem an auto accident "no fault" when a woman ran a red light and totaled an old car of mine.  Lost my car in the process.  Got enough from the scrap yard to pay the tow and storage until they released the car is about it.

Here’s the Allstate CEO’s lecture to the grieving community:

"Wednesday, tragedy struck the New Orleans community. Our prayers are with the victims and their families. We also need to be stronger together by overcoming an addiction to divisiveness and negativity. Join Allstate working in local communities all across America to amplify the positive, increase trust and accept people's imperfections and differences. Together we win."

Anyone who doesn’t understand how dumb and tone-deaf that is needs to have their head examined.

I don’t think the government should take over any industry. But if there’s one where it might make sense it’s the insurance industry.  Most of that money goes to useless desk jockeys and corporate stuffed shirts and commercials.

My state is one of 12 that features no fault auto insurance. It's BS in my opinion. I'm not sure it's unique to those 12 states, but every 6 months I have to pay right around $100 to cover uninsured/underinsured drivers.

We have to have liability by state law.  I had an 8 year old Camry at that time.  It wasn't worth comprehensive coverage and I had decided if I'm at fault I'll pay for my own situation but the lady who ran the light in her Avalanche had the same insurance company I did.  They were only too happy to claim they couldn't determine for sure what happened so it was "no fault" and they therefore didn't have to pay me.  The photos of my passenger side door caved in from the T-boning wasn't enough apparently.

In a time when presidential candidates and CEOs are being targeted for murder I can see why someone like him would want to temper down the heat.

It's fine when normal people are burned alive on the subway or assaulted, and killed. Or when gangs take over whole communities. But now it's too much.

Unfortunately it's probably too late for that. If I was a CEO of a company notorious for being a sh1tty insurance company that denies claims I too would worry.

It is because of the hypocrisy.   When the incident involves 'right-wing' politics there is a call for condemnation.   When there is a 'left-wing' or at least left sympathizing attack, the call is for unification.

Half of America is fuking sick and tired of the two-tiered system where one side gets understanding and sympathy while the other side side gets endless hyperbolic condemnation.   I don't care what some dik from All-State says, but I do care that brain-dead idiot who has been in the white house for the last four years has endlessly gone on about how the boogeyman of white nationalism (MAGA in the minds of retards) is the biggest threat to this country.   Let's condemn these acts of violence and stop belittling to us about how ISIS is no threat, but freedom-loving Americans are.

So yeah, fuk the idiots.  We spent 4 years beating up MAGA over some phoney insurrection BS where the only people murdered were by the state vs. this attack which killed 15 innocent people.   It makes no logical sense, except the left views MAGA as subhuman not worthy of being treated fairly and with respect.

Well in a time where CEO’s are removing their images from websites, shouldn’t it be refreshing that this guy is going on national television?

I was an independent insurance adjuster for thirty plus years. Owned the business with my father. Took it over and became president of the incorporation. And I can tell you that Allstate and State Farm are horrible companies when it comes to paying claims. Right after Katrina, I watched them nickel and dime and divert responsibility for what they owed according to their policy holders, third parties, and employees. Both companies are irresponsible with their contracts. I was offered a big position working with the Allstate team working the claim department five years after Katrina. I went on an interview for sh!ts and giggles and they offered me a fair salary. Told I would only take the position for thirty percent more than what they were offered. Countered with five percent. I got up and said good afternoon sirs. And Ms Iris, love your blouse. Bring out your beautiful eyes.

He only killed/injuried about 45 people.  There were thousands of people in the area who were unharmed.  So it was really a mostly peaceful mowing.
