Understandable that Eli didn’t go in on first ballot. He’ll get there.

But why?   I get Giants won 2 Superbowl's but Eli only finished in the top 10 of QBs twice with 6th being the highest. Career rating in the lower 80s. 118-118 W-L record.

Eli was a good QB, but HOF players are the best of the best and he never was.

By standards set he is a HOF’r. If they kept the HOF extremely exclusive like you say, then yes, he would not be. But they haven’t.

Torry Holt has been deserving.  Eli should go.

As a Panthers fan I love me some Steve Smiff.

since this is the HoF thread, I'll add the same comment from your 13 Years Ago Today thread.

At best, he is 6th best QB of his peers. TB, Peyton, Rodgers, Brees, and Big Ben. That's a no for me.

Got it. And Rodgers and Brees spent a lot of time losing big games.

Four very good seasons isn’t HOF worthy imo, this class shows that the nfl is out of true HOF players.

I’ll first say that I don’t give a damn about Eli.

But the F in HOF is Fame.  It’s not the HOG.  I think he qualifies

Eli will get in eventually because of the fluky SB wins.

And the nfl has ran out of great players, now lots of second and third tier players will be enshrined.

The best thing Eli has going for him is 2011. Went through the gauntlet and carried his team to a title vs the NfL’s best. His performance in the NFC championship that year was incredible.  Got the shitt knocked out of him 11-12 times and got back up.  A performance for the ages. They don’t hit them like that anymore.

Awesome to see Jared Allen going in.

HOF waaaaaay overvalues Super Bowl wins in their criteria. Take those away and Eli, Aikman, and Namath have zero chance.

Thrilled about Sharpe.  When he got retired because of the neck injury, I was on the fence, did he play long enough. When they put in Terrell Davis, who left early for injury, I kept wondering okay, when does Sharpe get in---he was the best or 2nd best WR in the league(only behind Rice) and he Diliweg, Wright and Majkowski throwing him passes, once he got Farve they were unstoppable.  Took way too long, but glad he's finally getting his due.

No Hines Ward Bogus!

Ward is the WR coach at Arizona State.  He's a big part of their success.
