Age-Height-Weight?

Recommended Posts

198 here. 5’ 11” 51 years old.

Was a runner and fit into my early 30’s.

Let things go, bounced up to 230 and, worse, grew a REAL NICE set of A cups.  Real pretty ones.

Anyhow, started working out 3 years ago.  2 years ago started eating for lower cholesterol.  I think I was 224 when that started and I lost a lot fast just minding my cholesterol.  But plateaued around 207 about a year ago.

Kept my workouts going and recently weight started dropping off again.  I haven’t been under 200 in over 10 years until now.

Where is everyone else with this?  Also wondering if anyone else eats a specific way to target something like cholesterol or whatever.

Well, I think I still have a decent face and hair. I am not growing whiskers or anything.

And I run few half marathons a year, along with a full marathon or two. So, maybe a few pounds overweight, but not enough to stop me from getting out there.

Old? Questionable, depends on what you define as old? Over 40? Over 50?

I am most definitely short at 5'2", though.

I thought I was in decent shape on the weight until about 5 years ago my doc told me if I wanted to live I'd clean up my cholesterol numbers.  I went 6 months of exercising daily, jogging some, push ups daily, etc.  Over that 6 months I never ate one fried food or one dessert or even piece of candy.  Went back in, had dropped 25 lbs that I didn't think I had on me to drop, and got told "You look good and trim and your numbers are better but you just have bad genetics.  We still need to put you on a statin".  So now, I take a 10mg statin, smallest dose I believe, eat not whatever I want but I have desserts and fried foods in moderation, still exercise.  My cholesterol  numbers are still good, still pretty much at that lower weight, if anything too lean really vs muscular.  6'3", about to be 51.  My daughter is a distance runner, people think I run bc of the body type and way I look, but I'd die if I even tried to do an "easy run" with her.

For an apricot, yes. For a head of lettuce, even more so. For a mountain, I have not even begun in years. For a man, I am just right.

I had a reduction in 2022, so now around 34C. They were 32F.

Not conducive to ultra-marathons, and very painful shoulders and back.

The very day my doctor told me my cholesterol was high, I made changes and they’ve stuck.  Simple things like going from whole milk to 1%.  Numbers improved and I feel better than I have in years.  The increased exercise over the last few years has corrected an SI joint problem that was quite uncomfortable at the time.

Interesting topic.  For a long time I was in the 215-220 lb range at 5'10" so a bit higher than I would have liked.  Then I got a job where they gave us free junk food and soda, all we could eat and drink.  The joke there was that everyone gained 25 lbs..  It took a few years but my weight did creep up and I ended up being closer to 235-240.  I'm no longer at that company so don't have to worry about that temptation any more.  About 5 years ago I quit drinking alcohol but ended up just replacing those calories with more soda so didn't make much difference but about 1 year and 9 months ago I quit soda about 95%.  Within a couple months I had dropped 20 pounds.  I built a gym in my basement but having never really had a workout routine it's been difficult getting in to a constant habit of working out but I've been working on it.  And in the last few months I've made a bit of a concerted effort to watch calorie intake more closely and I've been experimenting with fasting.  I'm currently down to 205 and hoping to get below 200 in the next month or so.  In high school I was about 165.  Not sure I'll ever get there again but if I could hit 180-185 I think I'd be pretty comfortable with that.

45, 6’ 1”, 193lbs

Hit 245lbs in winter of 2018. New Year’s resolution was to get to 200. Sugary cereal was my vice. I ate it as a late night snack and sometimes two bowls as a meal replacement. I haven’t had a single bowl of any type of cereal since at least 1/1/19.

Nice.  I also have my gym at home now and as a result I’m much more consistent.

As I’ve aged I’ve also found that I don’t need breakfast and generally eat nothing until the afternoon.  I know that has an effect, though it’s not deliberate.  I think the biggest thing for me was eating to control cholesterol.  That eliminates the big calorie binges.

Very similar to strike, but I don’t work out

56

5’10”

float between 200-207

would like to be 190.

used to be in excellent shape from high school until about 30. State champion in crew, then a midfielder in lacrosse (didn’t have to come off the field). Only ran, pull ups, push ups, sit ups.

it’s difficult  to get a running routine down because of back issues (injury around 2000). I can go out and run 5 miles one day, and have my back seize the next after a 1/4 mile.

Same on the no breakfast.  First meal is usually in afternoon.  Then I eat dinner around 8-9pm.

I've been doing that for decades.  Now they call it intermittent fasting I think.
