weepaws 3,436 Posted Tuesday at 12:25 AM I don’t think teams should try to build stadiums with more seats for paid US NFL fans , the NFL in their wicked way to protect players from harm, and to build a better relationship with fans, will continue to move more games, and soon playoff , games and even the Super Bowl to other countries. .time to stop supporting this. cyclone24 1,949 Posted Tuesday at 12:39 AM That hurts. I’m a bears fan but arrowhead is by far The loudest place I’ve ever been to a game of any kind and it’s not particularly close. That's exactly what they are doing. Final 4's, a SuperBowl, events week after week... I at least hope it's an open air dome so we can play football in football weather. At the same time, if I can afford to keep my seats with a PSL structure, the cold weather month games will be easier to sell

That stadium (Arrowhead) was completed (1972), AFTER Veterans Stadium (Philly - 1971), Three Rivers (Pittsburgh - 1970), and Riverfront (Cincinnati - 1970), were completed. All 3 of them have been gone for over 20 years.

I feel like I must offer perspective before I weigh in. I am nearing a half century in age, and have lived my entire life in the same town in MO albeit a freshman year of college where I lived in KS When Rusty and the other guys were in town most of us stayed downtown in MO, but Rusty got an airbnb close so he wouldn't have to pay downtown prices. I had to drive him there a couple times and it was a 10 minute drive but it was in Kansas. You really didn't have any idea because there wasn't any signage it's just the city runs that close together in parts of the area. Where the stadium is now it's about a 15 minute drive from downtown, and it's really just a major parking lot with nothing around it in an industrial area so all there is, is the stadiums. That's all you go there for and people love it because you drink your own beer and eat your own food right by your car before you go to the game. Then you drive home after the game. When the Truman Sprots Complex (TSC) was developed in the 60's, the vision was that hotel and development would begin popping up all around it. It never happened. There's been a ton of debate about how stadiums are funded locally. Right now Jackson County MO sales tax funds ongoing maintenance and upkeep at the Truman Sports Complex. The Chiefs only option was to renovate arrowhead, build new at TSC, or build in Kansas where they are headed. They wanted to bring a Super Bowl (trophy named after Lamar) to KC. The hotels and entertainment district they want to create for Final 4's and other major events could really only be developed at the land they are moving to. But passing a sales tax wasn't going to happen so the State of Kansas passed STAR bonds which finance the project by using future sales tax revenue to pay for it. That, and they are going to charge a sh1t ton for us season ticket holders with PSL's. The Royals are also done at TSC, they also want an entertainment district. It will be interesting to see how Missouri responds, or if they lose the Royals also to Kansas out in that same area. It doesn't effect me much. It's a 15-minute shorter, much easier drive where they are headed. And I like the idea of getting some pretty kickass events at the venue, especially if that gives me privilege of purchase if I were to own a PSL. Sucks that Missouri can't get their sh1t together and do something. I hope they can placate the Royals with a site downtown. We'll see. When all is said and done, still my team and probably going to be a kickass venue. But Arrowhead will most definitely always hold a special place in my heart.

Is it so Mahomes' little hands won't get cold in Winter or so Kelce's old brittle bones won't hurt anymore? I hate that they are building a dome, proving that the franchise is a fraud. I'm not old enough to have gone to outdoor Vikings games in the 70s, but their dominance at home in cold conditions is more myth than truth. I also remember attending a late season game in the Metrodome in the 90s where it was about -10° with high winds; I felt like we would die walking to the stadium. We were all damn glad to go indoors. Then my buddy locked us out of his car and we stood outside for an hour waiting for someone to come open it up and were even happier we hadn't been outside for the three+ hours prior. It does get colder here than down there, but not THAT much. When you're at a game in late Dec/ early Jan at the new place, with windchills well below zero, and you're sweating because you wore a Chiefs sweater instead of t-shirt, you'll love that dome.
