So my parents are losing it...

Recommended Posts

My mom, and especially my dad, have completely lost it politically. They have gotten to where they pretty. Much watch CNN and MSNBC all day every day. I mean hour after hour.

Hate trump of course, as any sane person does, but they are getting to a not very rational about it place.

Kinda alarms me. But what're ya gonna do?

Move to China?

Obviously I don't get home often. Once a year so far. It's weird, because you see changes all at once. The kids grow so fast. And my folks decline so fast. My brother and sister don't really notice, because they see it daily.

My MIL is like that. When she comes over I joke about over/under on minutes before she says the T word. I mean, the man is a total embarrassing disgrace and a clown show, but he's not Hitler for chrissakes.

On the other hand my mom actually voted for Trump because she said he really wants to help people. She doesn't bring him up much anymore.

My dad has been like that for years. Going back to the W administration really.

He doesn't watch the news all day but he says some pretty far-out sh1t. Like militant.

They all do that. Particularly the women. And CNN FOX MSNBC cater directly to their fears.

I don't know man, I see a lot of butthurt womanly b1tch teet sobbing on Fox, Breitbart and the president's Twitter feed too. :dunno:

It's especially bad because my dad is damn near deaf and has a sound system set up by a pro. It's like trump is inside your skull.

I got up and went to the second living room. Still to loud so I went to the third one.

Think I'll see if my brother wants to go to a t!tty bar.

Well there is the actual living room with the tv. Then there is what they call a "sitting room." Then there is the "music room."

Upstairs is the theatre and game room.

Yeah, this place is pretty ridiculous. I still get lost occasionally.

So how come they never helped you out when you were struggling?

Be thankful they're still here in mind and in body. We all lose it eventually, you'll have your turn.

You have your agenda too. Only one of us knows that there's plenty of snowflakism to go around.

They did to great degree. But it got to a point where they pretty much decided my ex wife was an infinite hole and that it was a waste of money and that I had to learn it the hard way.

Ahh, I see.

Are they happy now that you're in China? I would kinda think not, but on the other hand maybe they're glad you've made your own way :dunno:

Sorry to pry, just curious about the dynamics in this kind of situation

In laws are that with with Fox.

Step mom is quite liberal. Though she typically keeps most things that are not personal issues (she taught French in the public schools for years so she was very vocal about issues in Wisconsin a few years back).

She is more watch the local evening news type though and a half hour of the national stuff.

This is what old people do - once you lose the ability to enjoy life, you constantly watch the news, get scared and complain about everything. Then join the Geek Club.

1st of all

But yeah, the constant barrage of negativity and propaganda is turning half the Country into crazed robots.

They're happy that I'm happy. They said when I got here it's obvious.

Obviously, they wish I was around more. But they get it.

They took the news of my upcoming nuptials supportively, but nervously.

My parents lost it, but on the opposite side.

I recently mentioned an interesting story I saw on 60 Minutes and asked if they saw it, because growing up they always watched 60 Minutes. Mom replied "Oh we don't watch 60 Minutes anymore - it's liberal trash."

my parents have been pretty conservative for some time. my MIL was moderate, but took a hard left when we had dubya in office.

all of them sound like sound bites when we talk politics.

If you want to cheer them up, give them grandkids.

They have two. And my sister is working on a third.

I can vouch for this. It's a lot of work but we keep trying.

Hard to say. Before her stomach removal surgery, she weighed about 315 lbs. She's lost a sh!t ton, but now kinda has skin issues. She's trying to get pregnant, and will have skin removal surgery after.

She's also told me she doesn't give head.

But if that's your thing, that's between you and her husband I guess.

Try putting on Foxnews then put scotch tape on the battery contacts in the remote. Unable to change channels and frustrated, they'll turn off the t.v.

Oh and..........CAN SIZE?

Their tv runs off of an iPad. Can control the whole system, and the lights and ac as well. It's pretty sweet.

Change the settings in the iPad maybe? Get em unplugged.

Invite them here, they will fit in just fine...

Either way, they fit in with half the country.

My 75 year old dad is like this, flips between Fox News and their financial channel all day, actually has me a little concerned as he never leaves the house nor really wants to.

I have seem both sides of this. A good friend's step mom doesn't work and sits home all watching CNN and MSNBC. She has an irrational hatred for Trump, Republicans, Oil companies (even though her husband works for one and everything she has was paid for by an oil company) and guns.

Another friends parents are retired and sit home all day watching fox news. They have an irrational hatred for Obama, Democrats, Illegal Mexicans, and people on welfare.

Both are so extreme I don't visit them any more. You can't be around either of them for more than 5 minutes and they start going off and every single conversation come back to their crazy BS political beliefs.

Pretty sure this is how my dad started out when he retired, but watching CNN. Fortunately, he realized it was a huge waste of time and decided to work part-time to get out of the house and do something productive.
