wiffleball 4,640 Posted July 3, 2017 This is another one of those holidays that needs to be re-scheduled. Like, the first Monday of July kind of thing. I know it's associated with something that actually happened on 4 July, but still, call it Independence Day and make it a 3 day weekend. - With the big FW shows on Saturday or Sunday Houston has a great show downtown - concerts, FW's set to music - the whole deal. But unless you live downtown, the traffic to get out of there - from any direction - is nuts. I'd bet most people don't get home until WELL after midnight for even the closer burbs. Well now the whole family is up so I lost hat opportunity- just ate a left over sausage with sauerkraut- wife thinks I am crazy and I'm like 9AM is like lunch time on a Monday. My last company, after stripping all of our benefits bare made a new "casual dress code" policy to improve morale. Couldn't help but notice the CEOs pay didn't suffer though. The only time I even see my CEO is during the annual Thanksgiving thing; where they herd us through a buffet style meal, and he's one of the guys scoping slop onto our plates, like we're in a homeless shelter. Granted, I could have taken the day off, but I try to save mine up, knowing they shut down the office, and force us to use a week of our PTO between Christmas and New Years. Going on vacation in 2 weeks and didn't feel like burning the day but, in retrospect, I should have. Have a fun day planned tomorrow, grilling out and Fireworks at the Country Club.
