Concert ticket prices

Recommended Posts

I havent been to a concert in a about 10 years. I checked the prices for lawn seats at a Zac Brown show this summer and the damn fees are higher than the actual ticket! WTF? This is through Ticketmaster which is the only option, right?

Probably your only option. I just got tickets for me and my wife to see the Afghan Whigs (band she likes) in April. The $30/ticket wasnt bad but the additional $15 per ticket service fee pissed me off.

Yeah, I think $35 is reasonable for a Zac Brown lawn seat, but when you check out the total is over $120. Crazy.

If a show sells out before I get tickets, I just go there a couple of hours before the show and walk around putting up 2 fingers in the air, If I need 2 tickets. I've always gotten tickets. Never paid above face value. Most times I get them for half the price of the ticket. I just say I'm looking for a whatever dollar ticket. A lot of times they take whatever I'm offering. There are always people with extra tickets that just want to get some of their money back and just get to their seats. Someone cancels on them or whatever. I've done that since 1973. My grandmother lived in Mobile and Elvis was playing there. So my mother took me to see my grand mother. I made a sign, "Help. I need a ticket." Got one with no problem. I can't count how many concerts I've done it at.

I am fortunate to not like many bands that could command that price in the first place. Ive never even heard of Zac Brown.

Ticket prices have gone insane. I saw Elvis in 1970 and paid $5 for a front row seat on the side of the stage. I just posted a ticket stub from a concert in the 70s. Like 4 bands at Tampa Stadium. 8 bucks. Someone was telling me they paid 250 bucks for their kid to go see Justin Bieber.

Paid $7.00 to see Cheap Trick in 82. First concert ever. In the last 35 years, I've paid the prices. Won't do it anymore. Van Halen wanted $145.00 for cheap seats. Fawk you!

Brahhhhhh

Yea ticket prices are ridiculous nowadays. I think I paid $130 for me and my wife to go see Florida Georgia Line in Austin. LOVED living in SA because theres a place called Cowboys Dance Hall that put on shows with famous artists. Regular price tickets are $20 and vip is $45. Last time I went there it was to see Jake Owen, Florida Georgia Line, Parmalee, and Love and Theft. Extremely good show for only $20

It tells you how little they care about their fans. Elvis used to have it in his contracts that there would be $5 seats available so any fan could afford to see him. Stuff like that is why we Elvis fans still love him 40 years after his death. He cared about us.

My favorite band of all time, Fugazi only played all ages shows for < $10. I saw them with 5 other bands from their label in the 90s for $7.

This was likely the show:

If everyone had my buying habits, concerts wouldn't cost more than $15 and every restaurant in town would be out of business.

A lot of today's "Artists" only care about money. Even their songs are about money. My money on my mind. My mind on my money. B!tch better have my money. I have so much money I only have the best of everything. In 10 years they are going to be crying about how broke they are and their ex fans are going to think, "I paid $300 to hear you sing about how you wipe your a$$ with golden toilet paper and pissed your money away on bullsh!t. Fock you. Go get a flag card so I can keep paying for your sorry a$$ to eat."

I fully agree......from 1975-1990 I probably went to close to 100 concerts, almost all of them cost less than the album or CD. ( the way GOD planned it lol ). Since 1990 I've maybe been to 10 concerts and cringed every time I had to spend more than $20. As you can guess I don't see any more concerts.

Also, I'd never pay more today to see a has been band than i paid when they were popular.

I was looking at some U2 tickets this summer in Boston. Nosebleed seats were $400+. I will pass.

I would pay $4 to see U2. You would have to pay ME $400 to waste my time.

I cannot say FOCK them with enough enthusiasm....they try to come off as such a progressive, america loving band...and they rip off their fans more than any band out there.....I despise U2

Foo Fighters are coming to Detroit. $99 for all seats. I got two, paid a total of 236(with the fees) not the best seats in the house...but then again, with the big screens and the fact the stadium is new and hopefully acoustically sound, I am fine with where my seats are.

When prices kept going up I decided I'd start a DVD concert collection, nice tv,great sound system and a few recliners for guests and instant concert. All these farewell tours you pay $200 and up to see only to have the same band decide two years later to do a final farewell tour etc.

I have seen them several times before. It was worth it then. Probably not now.

Biggest joke is The Who "final tour". What was it '80 or '82 ?

Shea Stadium.

I had a ticket to see them at Worcester Centrum for 12 or 15 bucks in 1983. I was so broke then, I sold the ticket. I had always regretted that and over the years, I was thinking someday I fork over the money to see them. But now, meh....

Must've been '82 as I saw them in KC in '80 as their new drummer had just taken over and almost positive it wasn't billed as final tour.

I was thinking more of the fockin' Eagles seems like they've had 5-6 farewell tours.

I'll give you guys some ammo to kick me in the balls with, but I'll try and force field myself with a 7 year old daughter.

For Christmas, I bought the daughter and I tickets to see Taylor Swift this coming October at Cowboys Stadium. I've seen a show there (U2 and Muse...only cared about Muse) and we sat in the upper deck and it was the worst sound I've ever experienced. In reading up, it's not AS BAD in the lower levels. So I decided to at least go mid level for the kids first concert.......Two tickets for $228 apiece. Went ahead and got the insurance since it made sense at the price point....In total ended up spending just over $500 for 2 Taylor Swift tickets.

U2 was one band I never had a desire to see.

Theyre playing this Sunday Bloody Sunday. Id go see them with or without you, but it will be hard to find the venue. Its where the streets have no name. Of course, at those prices, well be so high up in the focking nosebleeds well get vertigo.

Ouch! Too bad the music is as bad as the price.

Shame that the sound for Muse was terrible. Saw them on their Drones tour and it was one of the best shows I've seen. Not even that huge of a fan -- my daughter bought tix for her boyfriend for xmas but his parents bought tix as well. Ended up buying them off her and went with my son.
