Obama tells a fan to get lost

The Trail Wears Thin

ABC News' Sunlen Miller Reports: He's been running for president for 13 months and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., may be showing some of the wear and tear of the campaign trail.

One particularly aggressive person -- who, according to the campaign, may be a professional autograph seeker/seller who needed 'proof' that he actually been with the candidate in order to sell the Senator's autograph(s) online -- seemed to fray Obama's nerves as the Senator made an unadvertised stop an Italian market in Philly on Wednesday.

In three separate acts -- perhaps entitled "The Irritation of Obama" -- the normally calm and collected candidate grew increasingly agitated:

Run in #1:

Outside the first shop, on the way in

Man: "Senator, can I have a quick picture with you?"

(Obama has his arm on the guys arm in a very nice way, like he does when he shakes a hand but refuses to take a picture and walks away)

Man: "It will take you two seconds. Don't cram me, I'm not doing anything to anybody. Jesus."

Run in #2:

After the first shop

Man: "Senator, can I get a picture with you?"

Obama: (slightly annoyed) "You are wearing me out brother."

Man: "I got one with Hillary Clinton, and I got one with McCain. Come on Senator, that's not right."

Run in #3:

In the street

Man: "Senator, can I please, a quick one?"

Obama: (very annoyed) "No, you know what, no."

Man: "Can I just say something to you real fast?"

Obama: "Yea, you can."

Man: "I had one with Hillary Clinton and I had one with Senator McCain."

Obama: "I am sure you do. Because when I was trying to talk to some kids –- and, I know, look...

Man: "No, my wife is a school teacher and she was there. She had to go back and that wasn't right. What, won't you just take a picture with me? I'm not asking you for a autograph; it's for my family.

Obama: "Yeah, well, whatever. Just take it. I won't be smiling. Because you're wearing me out. . . No no, you've been really rude about it. Just take a shot."

Obama and the man did not take a shot. The man was still arguing with the Senator when Secret Service stepped in (non confrontationally) to provide the denouement.

Secret Service: (putting a hand between Obama and the man) "That's it."

Man: "No, I'm good. All I want is a picture. That's it."

I think it's funny that you find Obama to be the douche here.

I picture you and this azzclown that is chasing Obama around and I see you tearing his head off and crapping down his throat, then taking the picture...

I figured you'd have the exact opposite approach on this, a, finally a politician that says, "enough"

I can't fathom how focking stupid a politician has to be to piss off a single potential voter for any reason.

STUPID. STUPID. STUPID. STUPID. STUPID.

The fact is that this man did nothing wrong. When you are a celebrity of any type, you better sign autographs until your arm falls off and take photos until your eyes go blind from the flash. Because if you are an arrogant ass, you will not be a celebrity for long.

Funny how Hillary and McCain had no problem for posing with the guy. I wonder why?

Who knows if that's even true, but that might be part of the reason he said no, If I'm trying to get a picture with Obama, I don't think I would have taken the, "I could care less about you or your election, I just want to have a picture of all 3".

Again, I'm surprised Mr. FU is on the irritating a-holes side. Your confusing me. Have you seen the video of this wierdo, I'd have punched him.

I dislike celebrites for the most part for various reasons. When they become hypocrites, I get batty. When they mess with things out of their element, like morning radio, I will point out THEIR flaws every chance I get.

I've heard the complete audio. I had to cringe when Obama was talking. And since he's in Philadelphia, that really rubbed me the wrong way. It's like he's practically saying "Don't touch me, you greasy Italian Filthadelphian."

At least that's the way I heard it.

The "fan" sounds like a pain in the @ss focktard to me. Obama is only human and can't be expected to react graciously to that kind of repeated harassment.

Didn't hear the audio but I have more respect for someone who draws the line, doesn't put up with someone asking in a rude way, just to appease every.single.person. He's not afraid to be at least a little real at a time when his every move is scrutinized...actually see that as a good thing. But I guess your feeling is kind of the opposite of that, he owes appeasement to everyone since he's running for office. Can't agree with that. If Obama was cold without provication, then it wouldn't be right, but it reads like the guy was being pushy.

If a salesperson decided to be rude to a pushy customer even once, they would be fired. And that is exactly what a politician is, a salesman. Obama should be fired for his blatant arrogance.

"Nice job, d0uchbag. ABB; Anybody But Obama."

Wouldn't 'Anybody but Obama' be ABO?

Whoops. Meant Anybody But Barrack.

An obvious tribute to the Anybody But Bush days.

The guy was a paparazzi and completely obnoxious. His partner was wearing a Mets sweatshirt in Philly. Yeah, this guy was just an innocent voter that wanted his picture with Obama.

Watching the video, I got the impression that Obama was looking around for a baby to punch in the face too. You could just see the hate oozing out of him.

Right. As an Obama supporter, I have no problem with this, given the apparent situation. I'd have told the guy to fuck off, personally. Sounds like he handled it fairly well. He's got some idiot chasing him all over the place, apparently, and being very disruptive. He was honest with the guy.

Again, Obama's biggest problem is that he says what's on his mind. He tries to be very PC and well-spoken, but he answers questions directly. It will probably cause him some trouble when McCain spends the entire summer doing the Cha-Cha around the issues that actually matter.

Gotta agree with the masses here. I'm not voting for Obama based upon his beliefs and policies, but I find no fault in what he did here. People can be totally obnoxious and to expect any person in the limelight to not get fed up with it sometimes is too much to ask.

Actually, my first impression when I saw this yesterday was again what disorganzed rookie mess BO's campaign is. First rule of crowd control is never let your principal have to be the bad guy. You HIRE guys for that. Situation should never even have developed much less gotten this far.

American is a bunch of sheep. Afraid to actually think for themselves. Unable to look past the flashy speeches and the media hype.

Barack Obama with fan = Sean Penn punching photographer = Brittany showing her twat.

All reprehensible in their own way.

This thread is a focking joke.

You seem to be closer to the sheep than anyone else. You read this story on ABCnews - then ran with it as if it was 100% fact.

Now the video came out, basically proving that Obama was provoked and reacted in a way than most anyone else would have.

So who's the sheep?

The voters of Barack Obama? Because we're tired of the horrible country that the USA has turned into? And that we are actually standing up for someone that has a very unique perspective with the ability to guide this country in the right direction.

Or you.. For believing every negative thing you hear about the man - just because you have an obvious vendetta against him?

You're the sheep. Not us.

I agree with you that this thread is ridiculous...

But this country is not horrible. That's just ignorant to say that. Where else in the world would you want to live besides America?

What is unique about Obama's perspective? He's a clear cut, hardcore liberal...nothing unique about that, really. Joe Lieberman (sp?) is unique, John McCain is unique...but Obama?what, besides that he is a black man running for president, is unique about him?

Yeah this country has been horrible these past 7 years. It has.

This administration has had our entire country living in fear - just to support his cause.

Bush/Cheney are focking crooks, that just happen to have the most powerful position in the free world.

In my book, that's a pretty horrible thing.

So don't question my opinion, maybe you and I don't live in the same world. I'm from New Orleans, lived here during Katrina. I watched as this administration ignored us, sat there and let us die. Regardless of your feelings about the situation, you couldn't tell me that if Katrina hit Orange County, Cali - that the response wouldn't have been much different. You know it was.

So maybe I am biased after watching my city become completely destroyed, but that's just how it is.

Yeah, there was alot of blame to be passed around. Nagin and Blanco were horrible in their reaction, but Fema wasn't run by one of their close friends - but he was Bush's.

I still live here. I still see how focked up my city is, and how the promised of this president have been nothing short of lies. He lied to everyone here, and couldn't care less.

So don't tell me that my opinion is ignorant, I have to be reminded of their incompetence every time I walk outside of my house, you don't.
