Hang In There 0 Posted September 22, 2008 This summer, I found my first Native American artifact .... a small stone scraper. I doubt it's worth more than $5, but I found it, so it's priceless to me. I got a couple other really cool things: #1 A photo, B+W print of Bogart and Monroe, smoking and having coffee. You've never seen it before ... can't find it on the internet ... a very rare print. #2 A misprint of April 1996 Playboy Magazine. It was bound with double pages of an interview of a young basketbal player drafted by the Magic they called Shaq. #3 A banner from the 2008 Superbowl. There were maybe 3 or 4 banners printed up for the 2008 Miller Lite Superparty in Glendale. I have 1. The photo is prolly worth the most. The banner ... I don't even remember what it says. Something like, "There's no party like a Miller Lite Superparty!". It's like 10 feet by 2 feet or something. And has the Superbowl logo on it .... it may be one of a kind. I got a couple other really cool things: When the basement for our house was being excavated, they came across some Indian artifacts and had to shut it down for a couple weeks. (pictures included) I don't know how much they are worth.
Sho Nuff 720 Posted September 22, 2008 Couple paintings my dad did (he is actually an artist). One a collage of Bart Starr as a player and coach...autographed by Starr. Another of James Lofton and John Jefferson doing the leaping high 5 they always did before games...autographed by both of them. Another of me in a baseball swing when I was maybe 4-5...looks alot like my 4 year old son. I am going to take a picture of my son in a baseball swing soon and see if my dad will make the same kind of painting of him.
kilroy69 1,268 Posted September 22, 2008 1. Half a cannon shell from the battle of lovejoy GA that I found myself. 2. Baseball signed by Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle and Warren Spahn. When I was little my dad had a hard time making me understand that only one player signed a ball usually. In my little kid mind the more people who signed the one ball the better it was. 3.Some Vietnamese money that my dad took off of a soldier he killed. He carried it in his wallet for 20+ years and now I do the same.

KSB2424 3,173 Posted September 22, 2008 I was clearing out a closet (in my old room) at my parents house recently and found a ziplock bag that contained my rat tail (hair) that I cut off and saved when I was like 10 years old. Not sure how much it is worth but how focking cool is that?

thetxstang 0 Posted September 22, 2008 Does anyone enjoy the aroma of sheep flesh (not lamb). My great-great grandfather, Colonel Black, opened a mutton cannery in west Texas (near Fort Fort McKavett) back in the late 1890s. Evidently, people weren't too fond of canned sheep so the business failed within two years. However, there were a few remaining can labels that have been passed down through generations of our clan. I've got a few and have stashed them in my treasure chest. Printed can labels looked quite different 100+ years ago.
mighty_thor 115 Posted September 22, 2008 After World war 2 my dad got a job in the post office. His boss was a real jackass and one day gave my dad a mop and told him to clean tha bathroom. My dad didn't do it because it was not what he was hired for. So when the boss came to hm and asked why the bathroom was not cleaned he took the mop and broke it in two and said "cause the mop is broken." He got suspended for that without pay. My dad was a bit of a war hero and wrote away to his congressman to complain about his mistreatment and to get his pay that was docked. Well he kept the correspondence and gave the letters to me beofre he died. So i now have 5 letters from his old congressman who just happened to be JFK. With JFK's signature on them. And my dad ended up getting his money. I also have some WW2 stuff that my dad saved from his time in the pacific. One is a Japanese Sword that he got after the defeat and occupation of Japan. He also had some medals and campaign ribbons. And he had a Jap flag with signatures of his war buddies.

titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted September 22, 2008 I have a German pistol my grandfather lifted off a dead Nazi in France. It has a little leather holder, and the trigger folds up into the gun, so you can stick it in your boot. It has swastikas engraved on it and everything. I've never tried to fire it. I also have his WWII binoculars. I took them to an airshow once, and some dipsh!t said that I should get some newer ones that had zoom and everything. I just scowled at him. I also have a box of civil war bullets and indian arrowheads and whatnot that I found as a kid.

titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted September 22, 2008 Nice. How'd you come to obtain those? My dad was a big civil war buff when my brother and I were kids. Living in West Tennessee growing up, there were many battlefields around. He used to take us to re-enactments of battles all the time. We went to Shiloh a bunch, Parkers Crossroads, Vicksburg, and some others. We used to putz around with our metal detectors, and find bullets, pieces of shrapnel, bits of broken swords and buckles and whatnot. (The people who run the place probably salt the area with that stuff to keep business up, but whatever.) We thought it was all so cool that we spent weeks in the library going through old census records so that we could find a relative in the Confederate army and join the Sons of Confederate Veterans and be re-enactors (what 12 year old doesn't want to run around with a rifle that shoots blanks and play soldier?) Anyway, after finding our relative, and joining, they tell us you have to be 18 to carry the gun. They said we could be drummer boys. We said no thanks. But if you live near a civil war battlefield, and have young boys, you should take them to a re-enactment. We thought that was the coolest thing ever. Tennessee was involved in the Civil War? I find this hard to believe? Yep. Last state to seceed, first state to re-join. East Tennessee even tried to seceed from us, like west virginia, but we laid the goon hand to the "State of Franklin." However before he did he allowed his men to go through it and they got BRAND new lugers right off the line. Never fired. He showed it to me and he never fired the damn thing. It looks like something made last year. I also have a box full of mini balls and bullets from the civil war. Some I bought but most I found where I found the half cannon shell. Just roaming around my grandfathers fields with a metal detector when i was young.

Mungwater 601 Posted September 22, 2008 I have a bunch of autographed 8x10s of a bunch of chicago cubs, including Mr. Cub Ernie banks. I have a Geovanny Soto autographed bat. My brother in law went to high school with their equipment manager, even got a brick from Wrigley. The two coolest, at least to me, is a stein my dad got from a beer drinking club in Germany. When I lived in germany, I was able to track the club down, and got to drink out of my dads stein with his old drinking buddies. I also have the colors of the company I commanded in Macedonia, which is pretty special to me too.

Snuff 10 Posted September 23, 2008 I don't have nothin cool like many of the responses here. I do have a signed Tommy Lee drumstick that he threw out into the crowd at a concert after he was done drumming with it. It came right to me. I stuck up my hand and caught it. Then I got tackled by a bunch of fat chicks, but they couldn't get it off me. I was offered a bj for it. I turned that down.

I read in an after market parts catalog one time that every part in the powertrain of the FJ is 50% heavier than the same part on a Wrangler. Can you say beefy? FG's are just bullet proof.
