After exhaustive research, "Gay is not genetic"

Recommended Posts

Not to totally change the subject but I think what he's saying...it's similar because the way some "theories" are taught as fact or the only logical conclusion.

You are right, a theory is not a fact, but there are certain theories that are much more sound than others and should be given greater attention.

Are we going there? Scientific theories vs religious theories?

Just let me know before it starts.

oh there's a definite movement away from traditional beliefs. jeebus, primetime TV shows show gay males kissing each other on network TV...talk about promoting the alternative lifestyle! in a few years the bible will be revised into the big bang was when gawd stuck his cawk into another dude and Adam gave Dave the bone instead of Eve. There's a party at the Lake of Fire, and we're ALL invited...

Autism also happens to be a brain disorder...so you might want to save your high fives.

So, do we just throw autistic kids into the short bus, or do we work with them to try to get them to learn how to behave in normal society? :shocking:

So if it's not genetic, what is it?

Predisposition. It is the capacity we are born with to learn things such as language and concept of self.

Everybody is predisposed to make the choices they make in life.

So what makes someone predisposed to be a corn gobbler?

So what makes someone predisposed to be a corn gobbler?

They are being perverts.

Same as theives, liars, drunkards, drug abusers, etc.........

It's all a personal choice due to millions of predisposed factors.

Perversion of nature is a personal choice, not a birth right.

But yeah, KSB is right, I just basically can't help but to take a swipe at Christianity anytime I get the chance. Its just how I roll.

How is that different than a person taking a swipe at gay people or anything else? The hypocrisy you speak of certainly speaks to your behavior as well.

I'm not taking a swipe at gay people. I'm not really taking a swipe at Christians either, most of them are good people. They just happen to be good people who believe stupid fairy tales.

But in fairness, look at the stupidity of the OP. Like I said in my first post, you can't have a bunch of Christians bashing a group for the illegitimacy of their science - then saying the cure for the disease is a personal relationship with a long-since dead guy. - Talk about hypocrisy.

Moreover, to be so stupid as this group of Christians (and Philly) to think that just bc they haven't isolated a "gay gene" means it's all a choice is patently stupid. - As I've pointed out.

So, act stupid, say stupid shiit and you get swiped at. It's rhetorical Darwinisn.

Don't you think it's hypocritical to pick and choose what parts of science a person believes in, based on their agenda?

Ban science from our lives, and the world will be a much happier and more intelligent place.

Therein lies our disagreement then. Your values/belief system is who you are. To belittle someone else's beliefs/values is to take a swipe at them in my book.

I'm not personally offended and I'm not going to lose any sleep over what you think, but I don't think you can separate one's beliefs so easily from who they are.

Example of not taking a swipe: I disagree with your beliefs and here's why...

Taking a swipe: Your beliefs are silly and irrational. Translation: You're a moron.

Very nice. Us Christians are always an easy target for people that demand the facts and proof. There's evidence all throughout history but none that would ever be considered conclusive by this bunch around here. But I believe that's the way it's meant to be anyways. Christianity is about faith. Some act like faith is a copout but I believe it's strengthen. It's much easier to believe in nothing.

There's a good start. The next question would be which specific beliefs do you find irrational.

From there, we begin a DIALOGUE.

That's a good thing. ;)

I think some gay people want homosexuality to be genetic to legitimze something that doesn't need to be legitimized, and people who dislike homosexuality want it not to be genetic so they can continue to say it's a choice and therefore deviant.

Meanwhile, most of the gays are focking their brains out and could give two shiots.

i don't really care if it's genetic or not. people are born with all kinds of afflictions. doesn't make it right in my mind. edjr likes to shove things up his a$$.... some people rub ###### in their hair and like golden showers. all the same thing to me. keep it in the closet where it belongs. we don't need gay nights at the ball park and big gay assless chap parades. they should just stfu about it.

So being predisposed = personal choice?

Predispose (verb used with object) - to give an inclination or tendency to beforehand; make susceptible.

Predisposed Behavior - Predisposition is the capacity we are born with to learn things such as language and concept of self. Negative environmental influences may block the predisposition (ability) we have to do some things.

A friend of my wife is a hardcore activist fawg! I asked her what is the difference between gays that want to form a civil union and ones that want to be married are. Her response was simple; " Fawk the Church! They have denied me my rights for so long, I am going after them! I am going to use the courts to make them recognize me and take them down at the same time!" My question, " How are you going to do that?" Her response; " Simple. As soon as we are allowed, under law to be recognized as being MARRIED, I will sue the church, if I'm not allowed to be married in their church, under the non discrimination laws that already exist! They cannot discriminate against me or my partner. And they will be forced to marry us in their church!" Me; "Even if the church in question doesn't believe in gay marriage, you are going to force them into doing something they do not believe? Just to make a point and then force them into your beliefs?" Her- "We win! Laws are on the books to protect minorities, us being one, and we will use them against the church! We just need the courts to recognize us as being married. Anti-discrimiantion laws will go into effect the day that happens. After that, it doesn't matter what the public thinks of us. We can force the Catholic Church to recognize us, as minorities. If they don't...we sue to get our rights and turn the law in our favor by doing so."

I believe gays are born the way they are. I know to many of them to believe otherwise. If you look at a woman who's hot when you are young, and get hard, you are straight. If you are a man and look at a man and get hard early on, you're gay. Ask yourself a question; What makes me long for the chick in the bikini? Her hips, boobs, ass, and thighs, and the thought of making her tell the truth, to me? Instant hardage when going through puberty. If you're gay, you are into gay. It's there. A gays boner or clit rattling is about their own sex. It's what turns them on. I can't be turned on by a man, I love chunky chicks. Big ass and nice ###### with a beautiful smile? Gets me every fawking time. Turn it around to gay dudes. My wifes friend Scott gets off on tall men with, whatever. That's what makes him hard. W

Who cares why it happens. It just does for some reason. Legal Unions are the way to go. Don't fawk up marriage between a man and a woman.

Just because somebody or something makes you "hard" doesn't mean you should fock it.

There are guys who get hardons for their own sisters, and they fock them. There are guys who get hardons for their own mothers, and they fock them. There are guys who €get hardons for little kids, and the fock them. There are guys who get hardons for sheep, and they fock them. There are guys who get hardons for microwaved vegetables, and they fock them. Etc.......

Just because you have a hardon, it doesn't mean you have to put it in anything that moves, or does not move. Sex is freedom of choice, not a birth right.

Uh oh, looks like I pissed in the God Squad's Cheerios. Let's see what they have to say.

See, this is a huge problem in modern American culture. You aren't supposed to judge anything, especially if it has to do with culture or religion.

Well fock that. I say every man has an obligation to judge every idea he comes in contact with. I judge most aspects of Muslim culture to be ignorant, backward, and barbaric. I don't give a fock if its your culture, its wrong. Fix it.

I judge the "Christian Mythology" to be no more compelling or comforting (and in some ways less so) than Greek, Norse, Mayan, Aztec, Egyptian, Indian, etc. ad nauseum, and judge it to be basically an intellectual crutch that has been used for thousands of years to oppress people, retard the growth of society, and to clothe abject evil in a veneer of righteousness. The world would be much better off if it didn't exist.

Now, those are my beliefs, judge them for what you will. Of course, you don't have to think about it, because your belief already conveniently judges it for you in your little book. At least I've never advocated the eternal damnation and torture of those who disagree with me.

People who demand facts and proof? They are called rational people.

Evidence? No, sorry, there isn't. You confirm that in your next sentence when you say the whole thing is about faith.

Its much easier to believe in nothing?

No, it isn't. Every caveman and nomadic hunter and gatherer believed in some kind of "spirit" or "ju ju" or God. This is because he did not understand his surroundings, and needed an explanation. It is also a hard truth to face that we, as a species, are in this universe alone, with only our wits to protect us. Most people seem to need the security blanket of a benevolent boogey man who is there to pick them up when they fall. Throughout history, very few people have had the courage to challenge that (largely because you guys had a nasty habit of tying them to sticks and setting them on fire, but that's just you guys being judgemental). And most people are far too arrogant and self absorbed to accept that, in the grand scheme of the cosmos, they are nothing. A speck of dust, that will die, and never be heard from again. Just one of trillions.

But I believe it is becoming important for us as a society to face those truths. You know the old saying "You can pray in one hand, and sh!t in the other, and see which gets filled first?" Well, same theory. This society faces massive problems. We can either pray for someone to fix them for us, or get to work fixing them ourselves.

meh. screw faith. it's bettter to just never believe in anything. then you can act all enlightened and call everyone else a hypocrit.

:P

No, I am not "acting enlightened" nor am I saying that all religious people are hypocrites. But religion having the gall to place a burden of proof on anyone is hypocritical as hell.

Ah, but it takes more faith to believe in nothing then it does something. Easier to prove what exists then what does not exist.

So not only are they not enlightened, but they are the biggest hypocrites of all. :dunno:

If its so easy to prove what exists, then why have you guys failed to do so in the two plus millenia you've been making your claims?

And proving that something does not exist is a logical impossibility.

But the fact remains that there is about as much evidence supporting a God as there is for the tooth fairy.

Anyway, ya'll have fun now!

Come on Bucs, you're better than that. Don't make fun of people's beliefs, even if you don't agree with them.

People who believe in God and Heaven do so because it's comforting to them to think they are rewarded for living a good life and thinking of others. That's hardly a crime and certainly not deserving of ridicule.

I'm sure there may be a few retarded gays who believe this, but it's funny that this arguement is the exact one the right wing uses to oppose gay marriage---while most activist groups I've read are concerned only with being afforded the same rights as everyone else and they realize that you can't sue the church to force them to marry you, when they don't recognize the union. Same as a catholic suing a synogogue to married there...

I find BB's story to be as grounded in reality as GettnHuge's conversations where he debated his way to changing an entire families beliefs about voting for Obama...

Sometimes it's hard to tell sarcasm or not, when I read your post with a hint of "OMG don't make fun of what believe believvvve!!"

Also, it is more ignorant to blindly accept rather than challenge beliefs IMO.
