GettnHuge 2 Posted December 4, 2009 And this proves that John Daly's endorsements have remained steady...how? You should go to a pro tourney and see who the people follow around. After Tiger and Phil, the next biggest gallery will be Daly. Daly has lost more endorsements from poor performance than he has from his behaviour. The guy was arrested passed out drunk outside a Hooters restaurant. Did they drop him? Hell no. negative publicity is still publicity. What's next? Are you going to say that Ray Lewis became less popular and couldn't get an endorsement after killin someone?

surferskin 30 Posted December 4, 2009 So, GH, since Vick's jersey sales are up, I imagine that his old sponsors and some new ones are lining up to give him more money than he was making before going to prison? Isn't that what you're suggesting? That Vick is actually more marketable since the dog fighting scandal?

Link 1999 at your so called height of popularity! John Daly has lost his multi-million dollar endorsement deal with Callaway Golf Company after declining to undergo further treatment for alcohol and gambling problems, the company announced on Wednesday. Link 2009 Daly said the publicity cost him his endorsements. His only deals are with Focus Golf Systems, which signed a 15-year agreement in 2006 to sell his golf clubs and apparel in Wal-Mart stores; and Fly Emirates, part of a deal that will pay his travel expenses when he plays the Abu Dhabi Championship, Qatar Masters and Dubai Desert Classic in January. Isn't that what you're suggesting? That Vick is actually more marketable since the dog fighting scandal? Unlikely, because the NFL is the 'what have you done for me lately' league and he hasn't performed at all so far. If he were making highlight reel runs, they'd be lining up despite his past. People don't care what NFL guys do or what steroids they get busted for, all they want is for their guy to get back on the field and win for them.

jerryskids 6,846 Posted December 4, 2009 GH, your analogy with Daly sucks. Even if he were making more, it is because his entire appeal is to the drunk redneck blue-collar crowd. He gets endorsements like Hooters. Tiger is a totally different market. I can't imagine Accenture is saying Yippee#@! over this incident.
KSB2424 3,148 Posted December 4, 2009 In regards to sponshorship and endorsments I see little long term effect. The public has ADD with stuff like this. By next month we will be talking something else. To be honest, in a weird twisted way this may actually help Tiger. You see, it's all about expectation. Charles Barkley can get in a bar fight, sleep with a prostitute, and say something totally un PC, yet we love him. That's our Chucky!@#!. We expect it. If he's on a Gillete razor commercial we laugh and watch. Tiger was a fresh new face in Golf. And he was a focking phenomenon. Dominance. He had a cool name, was a handsome guy, and had the game to back it all up. I don't think he tried to lie to the public and put on a sqeeky clean image perse. He was/is sort of a dork. The choir boy just happened. The media and us propped him up on that pedastal as much as he tried to protray it. Which brings me to how this may help in the long run. Tiger is now just one of us. He's no choir boy, he's an everyday man (as much as he can be). He has faults just like we all do. One of the reasons he had 'haters' was his choir boy image. Now there is less to hate on. Once the collective ADD moves the story on, I see Tigers fame and game getting bigger. He's one of us now.

But we never hear of his private life. He could be gay for all we know. Jeter, LeBron, Manning. Jeter probably screws around more than anyone but when you are not married and don't have kids it fine. Tiger will likely keep his Nike and Titelist deals. Not sure about American Express and GM. When you start focking around with porn stars then you are pushing the limits of corporate America. kutulu 1,681 Posted December 8, 2009 Jeter probably screws around more than anyone but when you are not married and don't have kids it fine. I went on this annual canoe trip a few years ago...I went on it two years running but it took place before and after those two years as well. Anyhoo...there was this chick on the trip both years that allegedly banged Jeter...and I tend to believe it. She was this petite, blond, fock doll type of girl. Funny thing she was a twin and her sister was on the trip both years too. The sister was a normal girl...I mean she partied, but was pretty respectable otherwise. She had the same boyfriend both years and I think they were engaged to be married the second year. Her sister on the other hand, the Jeter chick, was the complete opposite...drank like a focking fish...seemed generally trashy...had a different boyfriend each canoe trip...the boyfriend the second year knew he wasn't going to see anybody the next year on the canoe trip as he would be replaced by the following year. It started raining the first day of the trip...by the time we got to camp she was soaked, drunk and close to hypothermia. I let her "boyfriend" borrow our dry blanket so she could get warm and not die. Needless to say, by bedtime she had recovered and we got to hear her moans and grunts as she got focked in the tent next to ours.

What do you think the ratings will be the next time Tiger plays? I suppose you think every business will pull their ads, right? And if Charles Manson was a houseguest on the next Big Brother, it would draw great ratings, too. What's your point? People used to watch Woods because he was some larger-than-life, perfect athlete. Now he's a freaking circus act. Instead of it just being ABC and the Golf Channel covering his matches, Extra and Inside Edition will be there. Congrats, Tiger. You've doubled your audience. Hold on, we have a real problem here. STERN: I'm just trying to get ratings. I am just trying to run a radio station. STERN: I understand that. And I'm telling you that the commercial sponsors are there once you get the ratings. This is a very big problem. STERN: I know that. And they're going to be lining up 10 in a row. Listen to me, you stupid (BLEEP). Radio is a business and you just cost us $40,000. STERN: Wait a second. If I do a lame show, it's never going to take off. I'm calm. I am perfect calm. D.C. Carpet canceled because of him! funny how the world works Have you lost your mind? STERN: But you got to admit, it was a funny bit. The audience loved that stuff. We just lost Stereo City. This is not Muffler Man. This is Stereo ###### City! STERN: Dee Dee, you know there's gonna be other sponsors. No, there's not, Howard, 'cause your career is over. You're finished. Researcher: The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes a day. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes. Pig Vomit: How could this be? Researcher: Answer most commonly given: "I want to see what hell say next." Pig Vomit: All right, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern? Researcher: Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day. Pig Vomit: But... if they hate him, why do they listen? Researcher: Most common answer: "I want to see what hell say next."
