The 10,000 hours was a joke for jk. Lady Gaga has grown on me. Kind of in the Madonna mold, another imitator (like Gwen Stefani) with catchy beats.

Im officially old. I see no talent in any of the music artists tiday. For the past few days, ive woke to MTV's "Jump Start" so I can try and plug into todays talent, ive struck out and as such, have given up.

 

I look at (I cant even type her name its so ###### stoopid it irritates me) and I think "god damn thats one ugly broad"

I've never really gotten a good look at her until just googling now. I have never understood why some guys are so revolted and disgusted by her. she looks pretty good from what i have seen. She has a weird sense of style but thats always a plus in my book not a negative. I like a woman with a little weirdness to her. There are definitely hotter celebs but I would do her in heart beat.

Hip hop wise, some guys with actual lyrics: Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi (not his mainstream stuff), Drake (same). The last two may seem a little too pop-ish at first, but they both have some mixtapes that go hard.

 

As far as rock goes, there's bands that are starting to get recognition like Kings of Leon, etc. but still some somewhat under the radar indie type bands like Vampire Weekend (songs to check out: Cousins, Oxford Comma, Cape Cod KwassaKwassa, Horchata, A Punk), Arctic Monkeys (songs: Fake Tales of San Francisco,A View frm the Afternoon, I bet you look good on the dancefloor, Fluorescent Adolescent) and The Arcade Fire (Wake Up, Rebellion, Neon Bible) that offer a really really different kind of sound. May not be your thing, but they're worth a listen just to see. Julian Casablanca's new solo album is great too. It's like a mix of The Strokes (his band, also great but not new) and that retro 80's feel. MGMT also has a new album coming out soon, and they're another band that is either not really your thing, or something you can't stop listening to.

 

And something that's slightly more power pop but still a ridiculously good album is "Your Hands Together" by a band called the New Pornographers.

 

 

That's a short rundown of what's "new" but not likely to be on MTV or anywhere like that. It's all a bit different and off-putting at first but it's something that grows on you if you give it a chance and listen a few times.
