I don't think they know either. I remember seeing a snippet made during season 1 where the 2 producers said their goal was to keep things watchable for non-book readers and good enough to gain viewers so they could minimally have 3 seasons. Even back then, they were excited about getting to put a certain scene (you know what it is) from book 3 on camera.

I don't think anyone will like the Saw effect for books 4 and 5 (two movies/seasons split up but happening at the same time) and missing a lot of loved characters for a whole season. Then again, there's no way they can cut down 2 books into 1 season. Clearly it's been a challenge for a lot of great books (especially series of books) to translate from 1 book to 1 season/movie.

You can't have a season or season's like Book 3 will deliever and then have an entire season on book 4 that has so many characters missing ( the book was okay ) - folks that didn't read the books will be like WTF??? You would have to combine 4 and 5 somehow.

Just finished reading books 1-5, and I blew through them in short order, about a month and change. I will say that the second half of book 3 is as good as anything I've read. Book four I didn't love, and the 5th was great again. If you like the show, read the books; they're even better.

Also, my wife got me a t-shirt with a icture of the imp. It says "Tyrion for president; a lannister always pays his national debts."

Ciarán Hinds is an excellent choice to play the King Beyond the Wall

On a side note: how much does it cost to make this show? It must be very very expensive with the multiple shooting locations and elaborate sets.

Holy shitte! :shocking:

Most shocking thing I've read in any book in a very long time. :shocking: I really enjoyed the whole series (though book 4 was just okay).

I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet.

I  that they actually put this song from the book to music. Yes, I know they played it last year, but I think it's really fitting as the teaser for season 3.

looking forward to season 3.

Thanks for posting the trailer OldMaid - but that trailer kinda' suxored - great cinematography and music and all, but the imagery of modern day to sell their program? I want to see real previews of the characters and sets.

It's not a trailer. It's what they call a teaser.

The trailers should start rolling out here pretty soon, as we're down to two months before season 3 starts!

yes. its not a trailer at all. the teaser is that "their world returns to ours" hence the images of our world mixed with the items of theirs.

i havnt read the books, i wish i had before the show began but at this point i don't want to start with another season so close. ill start them after season 3 is over.... but it's a fantasy world, its not supposed to be "our" medievil times, so i have less issue with modern imagery.

Exactly what I was thinking. It's gonna be even worse for people that haven't read the books and don't know what's going to happen.

I was shocked at how much I like this show. Great characters, good writing, incredible production values, great acting. I focking love it, IMO, I actually think it's quite a bit better than Homeland. I won't say it blows Homeland away, but it seems it gets all the recognition when I think most people who watch both would agree GOT is the better, more entertaining, show.

Best premium TV series out there

Also, I want to absolutely annihilate Khaleesi- The dragon queen. Even over all the hot chicks in the show.

Did you see season two of Homeland? GOT is clearly a much better show at this point. I don't think any other show is even in the same league right now.

I agree with you on Khaleesi. Something about her really tickles my pickle.

it'd be well worth it to go read book 3 in the next 60 days IMO.

it's the best one and there's no way the show can fully give it justice. (but will still be fun to watch)

I believe seasons 3 and 4 of GOT are going to be dedicated to book 3.

I just started a re-read of Book 3 this morning. I want to get through it before the new season starts. Best book of the series imo.

However, I wouldn't start reading the series at Book 3 just to get ready for the TV show. Gotta start at Game of Thrones and do the work.

I kinda agree with this. If you have the time, start at the beginning. I started reading the books halfway through the first season, and I still enjoyed the first book. It just gives you a better feel for the characters.

but is it worth it to read book 3 without having read 1 and 2? im assuming seaons 1 and 2 did not fully cover EVERYHTING in the books so it seems weird to read book three without having read the other two :dunno:

in the show, yes... in pictures ive seen of the actress with what im assuming is her natural hair color.. not as much. Still yes, but its grealty enhanced by her look in the show.

Agreed. It's the character that's hot, moreso than the actress who plays her.

If they cast Cher as Khaleesi, you may not agree.

No way would I start with Book 3. I read books 1-4 between season 1 and 2 and read book 5 after season 2. No bad time to read the books, but read them in order or you will be toast on the vast array of characters.

What I meant was, the actress is good looking for sure, but as that character she is smoldering hot. As another character she'd probably just be regular fockable or slightly better. CH can't go near a drive-thru without spotting scores of hotter chicks.
