Game of Thrones (no spoilers)

Recommended Posts

Really? 22 pages??

They had a midget on TDS that was apparently from this show - or was it Vikings - whatever. He was pretty funny.

I'm sorry, every time I hear the word "throne", I can't help but think of the crapper. :o

I read an interview with the author recently where he said he's currently writing book 6 and has been for awhile. However, he's concerned that the show will catch him before he finishes all 7 book. He likened the show to a train coming nad he's standing on the tracks. He can hear it coming and there's no stopping it. He just has to stay ahead of it. A good anaology, I think.

Having said that, GIVE ME FOCKING BOOK 6!!! :wall:

In even worse news, I read somewhere that they might commission him to do the prequel for HBO, too. The Dunk & Egg novellas... I'd link it, but I'm too lazy to look for it at the moment.

Under all those coats, Ygritte, is actually a smoking red head...

BTW, don't think I have ever been more pumped for a TV show, and that's saying a lot. The BB last season primiere and finale will probably eclipse it in the summer, but still, super pumped.

Yeah, I likey.

Big mistake getting pumped up for a show. It almost always ends up a let down. The show I was probably most excited to see was when the last season of LOST premiered - and the entire season sucked ass.

do people really still try to compare books to movies?

just silly. books (unconstrained) are always better because of detail and setup.

if you watched the harry potter movies w/out reading the books, you really missed out and have only your lazy self to blame ;)

unfortunately the Lost writers blew season 6 after setting the bar so high. the concept was decent but execution not so much.

book 4 of GoT is a LOT of setup (and still had a you-know-what kind of ending!).

it wasn't book 3, but I wouldn't complain...it's still enjoyable to be in the Thrones world.

i'm very curious to see what happens to the characters post-endings of books 4/5.

I have been semi-hard all day in anticipation. TWD finale is definitely over shadowed by this. Even the tourny is over shadowed. FYI, Michigan's first half made that semi a full-on rager. What a fantastic focking Easter!!!

Pretty much what I expected. Giving us a gist of what's going on and what's to come. There are so many story lines going on, it's hard to keep everything together.

Though I'm sure people who have read the books knows this, but I'm guessing the first few episodes will be a bit slow and then it will take off. Similar to season 2.

The unsullied weren't nearly as badass looking as I pictured them.

Yeah... you should read the books if you have the time. They are great... I couldn't imagine trying to follow the show without having read them.

I never watched the show before two weeks ago. I sprained my ankle and could not dive so I was basically on a 3 week vacation. I watched both seasons in the last 14 days. EXCELLENT show but watching them so quickly made me miss some things. A few questions from late last season and last night.

1. What was the place that Rob and his army walked into when he told them to lock away his Mother?

2. In a late ep last season Rob said they would let everyone that took Winterfell go except Theon. So his men knocked him out and went home. What did they do to Theon and how did they think they would be allowed to leave if they burned Wintefell and killed the people?

What happened to them or don't we know yet?

Also in the last season Kat told Littlefinger that she would not accept the offer from Tyrion to trade the girls for whatshisname (King Slayer). Why then did she think it was a good idea to send one person with him to Kings Landing to offer the same trade? Why did she think they would they give anyone back for him when he shows up with one guard? That was the thing that made the least sense to me so far.

Just got around to watching the season premiere tonight. It's on past my bedtime on Sunday nights. But at least I'm not watching it at six pm like some crazy focks.

Man that Tywin Lannister is one evil son of a b!tch. They always made him out to be a real heartless ahole, but his speech to the half-man was really something else. I'm hoping he gets what's coming his way although he seems like exactly the kind of fellow who wins out when the whole world goes to sh!t.

(NO FOCKING SPOILERS IF YOU'VE READ THE BOOK)

I will add to what Arnie said on the topic of Catelyn; I think the idea was with Jaime having killed a Karstark that she is now afraid that they won't be able to protect him and keep him alive to use for leverage, so she needs to get him out of there. So she takes a flyer, trusting to his questionable honor. In the book it's handled a little differently; Catelyn gets word that Bran and Rickon are dead supposedly (they are not as we know) and so she starts to panic over the idea that the same thing might happen to her girls.

HBO has missed some opportunites in retelling this story. I have already complained about not going the rout with the bastard bolton and Reek, but i was a little bummed the other night that they revealed barristan selmy so early. I thought that was a pretty cool part that happened towards the end of the book, and also brought up some other plot points as barristan set some other things to rights *i know... no spoilers* That and they sort of spelled out the whole Davos red woman thing... and they spelled out littlefinger/sansa meh oh well...

that said, the scene with the dragons fishing was bad ass, and tyrion's dialogue with tywin was spot on and dark... i'm excited

The barristan reveal was a little odd. They did it at the end of the episode so obviously it was supposed to be a major reveal, but it didn't feel very significant because Daenerys doesn't even have an army yet.

Maybe they thought people would forget all about the barristan if they waited too long to bring him up again. :dunno:

I was kind of disappointed in how Selmy was revealed too, but it would have been pretty hard to keep his identity a secret with all the viewers knowing what he looked like. I can also understand not introducing Ramsay into the events at Winterfell yet. There's a lot going on and I think that might have been really confusing for non-book readers. I doubt many viewers even really get who Roose Bolton is yet.
