WhiteWonder 2,739 Posted April 12, 2013 They've been doing more developing of Jaime's character since he was captured and especially since the mountain lady began transporting him to exchange hostages. I have a feeling it will continue. The thing that's really mission is an explanation for why he can't stop focking his sister. I.assume there must be some reason, it's not like he couldn't pull other hot tail. well he does tell big girl that you cant help who you love
Quickolas1 80 Posted April 12, 2013 notice how the book-readers want more and more detail from the books into the show? but the illiterate can't remember half the names? yeah. so. stop complaining they aren't putting every little thing in. it's not plausible! an example: In books 1-3, every couple hundred pages they'd somehow re-mention Beric Dondarrion. In the show, it just wouldn't fit. So I wouldn't expect it being a big thing or even necessarily think we'll see him as leader of the Bros w/out Banners. It would be odd and anti-climactic if they kept bringing up (for "no apparent reason") that Beric (who we've seen once) was the guy Ned sent to get the Mountain long ago in a story arc that has long since changed. Similar situation with Selmy, which is why I don't think it matters much at all that he was revealed earlier in the show. Books allow characters to be brought up with off-hand comments or like Jamie remembering a tournament that Selmy was in. Shows not so much. I agree that Bran's chapters are toughest to read. Those chapters could be 5 pages long instead of 15. I like his show airtime better. They did a great job of quickly and efficiently introducing the warg wildling and kicking it back to Bran with Jojen and Meera Reed.

ArnieBragg 1 Posted April 12, 2013 This... in the books the author always claims that jaime is no match for tyrion mentally, yet he is still pretty focking sharp. He also has a knack for being bluntly hilarious instead of the clever/passive aggressive quips you see with the 'smarter' characters. Jaime is also the character who undergoes the most character transformation thus far IMO, He has to reinvent himself and his phantom hand. It is also interesting to see his inner struggle... both yearning to be, and rejecting his former self... there is a part in the 3rd book where he is going through the large written book of all past king's guardsmen and he comes across his page. He sees all his triumphs and failures written into a concise exerpt and notices that selmy left the majority of the page blank. He realizes then there is much to be written still, and it can be whatever he chooses... i know kind gay, but he's one of my favorite characters I agree 100 percent with what you wrote in the spoiler. Non book readers are really getting an incomplete picture of the story. I keep waiting for them to address the tourney that took place at Harrenhall during the Year of the False Spring. With the arrival of the Reeds (finally) I'm hoping that is coming up but I'm not holding my breath.

TD Ryan2 316 Posted April 15, 2013 OK - so I'm finally buying into the "Jamie Lannister is one of the best characters" mentality. But he focks his sister and threw a kid out the window... still a tough first impression for me to get by - but there is something about him that's smart/cool/noble as evidenced with the Brienne scene last night. I can't lump him into the "peple I want to win" group (see, Danaery/Tyrion/Ned) but Jaimie is elevating himself. And OK - can we just get to Danaery torching the Slaver Chief? I didn't read the books but I am dying for: 1. She gives the "biggest" dragon to SlaveAss. Dragon incinerates him as she explains that she's fluent in his language and understood everything. 2. She takes the slave army and tells them to either - return to your homes and loved ones or fight for me so that this never happens to anyone again. 3. She demands that SlaveAss's interpreter woman be forbidden to ever wear a shirt while on camera - the slaves are not the only things that need to be freed! there may be more... TD Ryan2 316 Posted April 15, 2013 Vargo Hoat character. you book readerers are funny - is Vargo Hoat supposed to be the Jamie Hand Chopper guy? I can't even remember all these names never mind the names they're "supposed" to have. I will continue to identify characters buy their actions: T!tsTranslator SlaveAss DirkDigglerSquire EagleEyeGuy etc.

Well Dany,Tyrion , and Jaime are IMO the 3 most interesting characters. You see a major transformation in Jaime in book 3. not just him losing his hand. TD Ryan2 316 Posted April 15, 2013 Loved the Blackfish. The funeral pyre scene was perfect. yup. I'm watching that, thinking - "this show gets it" - first time ever I'm considering that this HAS to have happened... that some poor Thor-hero went out to sea disgraced or cursed or whatever b/c they couldn't hit the boat with the fire arrow (or it started raining, windy, etc, etc). 'holy fock!'. And it's being shocked while watching it, that makes me not want to read the books until the end. The book readers were anticipating the scene while I was blown away by the scene. It was a funny scene, but it also gives viewers a quick insight on both Edmure and The Blackfish even before the council with Robb lays it on the table that Edmure is pretty much an incompetent dumb-ass, and Blackfish is a stud. There was a lot of subtext with that one scene. It was taken pretty straight from the book, thought it's not their introduction in the book.

Kinda' reminded me of the time in the Sopranos when Paully lost his shoe with Chris in the Snow Barrens (Pine Barrens?). Such a little piece of detail that's so believable and realistic and impactful. Also, until I read the recaps, I didn't fully understand that the Funeral Boat was Cat's Father. Meh... doesn't matter - show is still great even though my haid's spinning with people and places.

I know you were one of the ones who was pretty concerned with the more fantastical aspects - by which I'm referring to the magical crap, not Missandee's t!tties - of the show. No spoilers, but you ain't seen nothing yet, as far as characters. It shouldn't be too bad from here on for the next two seasons while they do Storm of Swords, but Martin doubles down on new characters/locales/houses and storylines come Feast for Crows. Even as a book reader I hope they trim a fair number of those additions.

nobody 2,675 Posted April 17, 2013 Zero chapters dedicated to the awesome hooters. In the book, she is ten and has no titties (I assume) Ain't no way I'm reading those books then. I remember in season 1, every few episodes, we would see something really unique. A guy getting a pot of molten gold poured on his head, a guy beheading a horse with a single sword thrust, a chick eating a horse heart raw, a dude taking timeout from banging his sister to push a kid off a building, ned getting his head chopped off... Then it devolved more and more into Robb Starks' mom crying about sh¡t with few interesting things happening. We still got some interesting stuff between pity parties, but it wasn't enough. This year looked like it was going to be even worse, but then Jamie stepped up and got his hand cut off thank god. There may be some hope yet.

I was seriously hoping those soldiers that came after him would fock his ass into the ground, and then slit his damn throat yeah - but is there any significance to his rescuer saying, "Winter is Coming" as he helped him away? Is that a WinterFell phrase? or at the very least a "North" phrase? Is there some sort of "prodigal adopted son" angle going on with Theon and Winterfell/Starks/North?
