Game of Thrones (no spoilers)

Recommended Posts

Can't we just agree to put spoiler tags on anything that might be questionable?

Seriously, I don't see what's so hard about that. :dunno:

I think considering every single other place on the internet where GOT is discussed there are gigantic a-holes who blatantly write spoilers from the books....I think we do a good job of concealing most spoilers, certainly the major spoilers.

All this being said, I think Moz's "spoiler" that I missed is officially not a spoiler, if it was concerning Lady Stoneheart. Michelle Fairley just confirmed that she will not be coming back, and her character is as dead as Micheal Jackson.

I'd rather have Strong Belwas

Other than Tyrion killing Tywin, which that cvvnt Wiffleball said on the other board, for which he got banned.

Nothing has been ruined for me. He said it at the very beginning of season 4, so I had actually thought by the time it happened, he was lying.

FOcking fat drunken cvvnt he is.

IDK... the article I read about Lady Stoneheart only centered around this season, and that it could be up in the air to happen later. But another reason I would consider it a spoiler, is that it's a spoiler for the books. Not everyone here has read them, and we don't know if they might want to at some point. Lady Stoenheart was a good "I didn't see that coming" moment. I'd hate to have that spoiled for me.

That's true, I didn't think about that. I do highly encourage reading the books, you will see how underwelming this season was compared to the chaos that the second half of book 3 was.

I believe the writers/creators opted out of Lady Stoneheart. Partly because it's dumb and the broad appeal of the show would be jeopardized by something that only the fantasy die-hards could embrace.

There were also claims that it would diminish the impact and magnitude of the Red Wedding - a masterpiece that should be left untarnished.

My first thoughts were this.

I then realized that she starts a weird and compelling storyline that we were left with at the very end of the last book. So, basically, she could play a much more significant role further down the line.

Am I remembering something wrong? There was a battle where Stoneheart orders Briane killed, Then we see Briane lure Jamie away supposedly to be captured by Lady Stonehart. That is the last I remember reading of that arc. If I am correct then Stoneheart was central to that part of the plot and what is to come next.

I just started streaming Game of Thrones a few days ago. I'm still in Season 1 so I sure as hell ain't reading this thread.

So far great show. Personally, I'm not a fan of supernatural in any story (kills all the suspense... anything goes when magic creaps in), but all the midevil stuff and hot sluts more than makes up for it so far.

‘Game of Thrones’ Actor J.J. Murphy Dies Four Days into Filming Season 5

https://tv.yahoo.com/news/game-thrones-actor-j-j-murphy-dies-four-144811049.html

“Game of Thrones” actor J.J. Murphy has died four days after shooting his first scenes for season five of the HBO series. He was 86.

The Northern Ireland native collapsed and died on Friday, Aug. 8, according to the Belfast Telegraph. Murphy was cast as Ser Denys Mallister, the oldest member of the Night’s Watch and commander of the Shadow Tower, and was reportedly due to film further scenes in the coming weeks.

“Game of Thrones” producers D.B. Weiss and David Benioff released the following statement in regards to Murphy’s passing: “We will not be recasting J.J. Murphy. He was a lovely man, and the best Denys Mallister we could have hoped for. And now his watch is ended.”

Murphy also had a role in the upcoming feature film “Dracula Untold,” and appeared in pics including “Angela’s Ashes” and “Cal.” The majority of his work took place on the stage, however, treading the boards at the Lyric Theatre in Belfast alongside the likes of Liam Neeson and “Game of Thrones” co-star Ciaran Hinds.

New cast members for season five of the series were announced at Comic-Con, including “Whale Rider’s” Keisha Castle-Hughes as Prince Oberyn Martell’s daughter, Obara Sand, and Jonathan Pryce as religious leader The High Sparrow.

I have arrived! I'm through season 4.

And the first post I read is about one of the actors that died. I refuse to read who it was and will probably never vist this thread again for fear of spoilers. Good day, sir.

So, George RR Martin I guess started reading some of the fandom, and admitted that some had the correct theory and they show the theory that most think is the correct one:

SUPER SPOILERS for non-book readers

 I believe someone in here posted that theory, and it makes way too much sense.

Interesting... Looks like the show doesn't plan to jump ahead of the books. I think I'm happy about that.

Was just about the post this. I thought they would at least make a weird little side plot for him,

BTW, we have gone ahead in show, when we saw the White Walkers' layer or whatever it was.

Yeah... but not THAT far ahead... Bran's always had the least amount of chapters, so there's probably not much left of his story-considering there are only two books left. What IS left has got to be integral to the ending. I'm not surprised they're not ready to show that yet.

Yeah, not mad about this at all. Smart on their part - eliminates a story arc so they can focus on the others more.

I think the one glaring hole in, what is now, the leading theory is that Bran doesn't really have much to do with it. I think it's clear that Bran is the key to everything, I seriously doubt Martin would build up his story arc that much just to have it kind of fizzle out.

Another interesting theory. SPOILER....obviously. This is pretty close to what I came up with after reading the books. I really think Martin was pulling our chains when he said some GOT theorists were right.

Meh... this isn't anything new. And since there are SO MANY theories floating around, it's impossible to tell which one Martin may have been referring to.

I don't think the "theory" Martin said was on track meant it being exactly right. I almost expect the realms to unite and ask Dany to be the Queen if she defeats the white Walkers or just giving her the throne first. Like I think Snow turns into a white walker and becomes their leader. I know it won't be cut an dry like Dany goes in and wins ... the end. I doubt the WW's are as evil as they are portrayed so far. All thoeries and I doubt anyone is right -- Martin is a very good writer and always gives what you least expect.

GAME OF THRONES Season 5 Is Going Off-Book In PROFOUND Ways

http://badassdigest.com/2014/10/21/game-of-thrones-season-5-is-going-off-book-in-profound-ways

So far Game of Thrones hasn't been shy about changing things from the A Song of Ice and Fire novels to make the adaptation to HBO work better, but it's almost always been either minor things or things that worked better as streamlined. That's all going to change next year, because behind-the-scenes images are revealing that season five is taking huge, major deviations from the source materials.

Spoilers for A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons follow.

The biggest change is video that reveals Jaime Lannister hanging out in Dorne, Westeros' version of Spain, with the family of the slain Red Viper. That's a huge deal because he hasn't been to Dorne at all in the books, and he's been actually spending all of the last two novels around in the Riverlands, not really being that interesting (as I recall). Jamie going south to Dorne makes sense - his daughter is being held there, and I could see him allying with the Martells - but it's a major spoiler if it's something George RR Martin is planning to do in The Winds of Winter.

Meanwhile other behind-the-scenes shots have revealed Tyrion is also getting ahead of his book-self in season five. In A Dance With Dragons Tyrion travels to Pentos and then tries to find Daenerys, having adventures along the way. He does not truly meet her in book five, although he gets close when she re-opens the gladiatorial pits for her wedding celebration. Photos from the Game of Thrones shoot in Spain show that Tyrion is actually at the wedding, and as a guest of Dany herself. Some have speculated this means his journey won't happen as it does in the books, but I suspect the wedding happens either in the finale or the penultimate episode, giving Tyrion plenty of time to go riverboating and get sold into slavery along the way.

I'm sure these changes are just the tip of the iceberg. We were wondering how the show would deal with the largely event-free last two books (which took place simultaneously), and the answer is 'By changing them up in big, big ways.'

The only change they should be making is more than 8 episodes per season and starting the season April 12th

It's always been 10 episode seasons

The dragons, dire wolves, White Walkers and power-hungry political factions in HBO’s fantasy epic “Game of Thrones” will invade movie theaters later this month — on the big, big screen. An exclusive trailer for the coming season along with the final two episodes of the previous season will be shown in 150 Imax theaters across the country.

I meant 10, but that's not enough.

12 would be better.

I want it on every week
