Game of Thrones (no spoilers)

Recommended Posts

Well we know Jon Snow is a leader and he no longer kneels to the king. She was probably assessing him as a threat to Stannis.

Jon and Arya need to make a baby.

But the Starks weren't kings, were they? Ned Stark was his father, not sure who his mother is, but other than ruling Winterfell and being the King's Hand, I don't think they are royalty.

You know nothing, Phillybear.

And why would Varys stay on board the ship when all his power and expertise is doing these things from the shelter of King's Landing?

You lost me.

I'm a little puzzled that we didn't get the revelation about Tysha, from Jamie, before letting Tyrion escape. I wonder if that means we can skip Tyrion asking everyone "Where do ######'s go?" to everyone from here on out?

I agree. The episode was disappointing not for what it was but what was missing. That and the epilogue from book 3 were holes in the end of the season

This season had an unacceptably low amount of boobs. If I don't see more boobs next season, I'm done with this nerdy show.

Definitely the weakest of the 4 seasons.

He has to boogie out of there.

Tyrion has escaped. Tywin is dead. While the death of her father is a relief to Cersei, she still wants the imp dead for poisoning Joffrey. She has been obsessed with killing Tyrion. She isn't going to just let him escape without a huge to do. So, someone is going to get blamed. Who are the suspects? Jamie? She just confessed her love for him last episode, so that's not happening. Bronn? Is he even in King's Landing anymore, off to marry a noble woman? He's probably got an alibi of focking that pig anyway. So, who is left? The bells are ringing and Varys is nowhere to be found. Why would Varys go back and risk being put on trial, getting a stacked deck of judges against him, and having nobody around to help him escape? He's better off leaving.

Now, by leaving, his network of spies could work in reverse. He could gather information from King's Landing and peddle it abroad. To whom? Well, he has options. Stannis? Not likely, as he has the red witch woman advising him, but still possible as Varys isn't connected to the Lannisters. Daenerys? Well, she has advisers, but after kicking out Jorah and struggling with her decisions lately, she could use some guidance. Oberlyn's people? They may want some revenge, after another one of their royals just got killed in Lannister Land. Tyrells? Not likely, since they are now in bed with the Lannisters and are working with Baelish. Baelish? Eh, they are too much of rivals. But, there are possibilities to sell King's Landing information to potential buyers, while having Tyrion in his debt to use as a pawn.

They have hardly hit the Tysha episode in the show, so I think throwing that out there at that point would have resulted either in a long bit of exposition in a season finale where they were trying to cover many story lines, or just lost many viewers altogether. What they should have done was use the time they spent on the retarded Lannister cousin and his beetle crushing a few weeks ago and refreshed us on Tysha.

They flashed this before the opening credits (obv whatever they flash will be pertinent to the episode).

I forgot to ask this earlier. Being that I don't have HBO....

When the episodes air, do they do a "previously, on Game of Thrones" thing?

And do they do a "next week, on Game of Thrones" thing?

Yep! It's a good bet that anything referenced in the opening credits is relevant to the episode.

For example, the finale's opening credits showed Arya receiving the coin from the Faceless Man.

Really don't think the Hound is dead, fellas. Are there any exceptions to the "if they didn't die on screen..." rule so far in the series? They made it seem as if The Mountain is going to live. GRRM isn't one for poetic justice, but the idea of The Hound being the one to end The Mountain for good is just too good to pass up is it not?

Agreed, nothing is official unless you see it.

Agreed.

Although he did tell the story about her to Bronn and Shae, in either season 1 or 2. Remember, they were sitting in the tent before the battle with Rob Stark's men, playing a drinking game?

It just seems strange they would leave that part out.

Danny fo sho. Didn't Varys have some history with or predilection for the Targarryens? Or maybe I'm making that up

Also I'm pretty sure he was spying on Danny's camp, no? Would be pretty easy to turn that one right around I'd think. Perhaps he even gets Ser Jorah back into the friend zone fold.

Varys worked for King Aerys before Robert took the throne. He's also in cahoots with Illyrio Mopatis, who sheltered Dany and Viserys growing up, brokered the marriage to Drogo, and gave Dany the dragon's eggs.

The knock against Varys is he will have no interest in banging Dany, and usually she requires that her most trusted male advisors be fawning over her all the time.

Now I know what you're going to say: but what about the unsullied dude? Well he wants to hit Missandei so somehow he still has an affinity for the ladies

Unfortunately besides the line about Tysha, we also didn't get the great inner monologue line from the book (not verbatim):

As Tyrion took one last glance at his dying father, whose feces were splattered across the floor, he thought to himself "and here ended the reign of the mighty Tywin Lannister - who as it turns out - did not, in fact, sh!t gold."

Unfortunately besides the line about Tysha, we also didn't get the great inner monologue line from the book (not verbatim):

Verbatim:

"Tyrion's finger clenched. The crossbow whanged just as Lord Tywin started to

rise. The bolt slammed into him above the groin and he sat back down with a
grunt. The quarrel had sunk deep, right to the fletching. Blood seeped out
around the shaft, dripping down into his pubic hair and over his bare thighs.
"You shot me," he said incredulously, his eyes glassy with shock.
"You always were quick to grasp a situation, my lord," Tyrion said. "That must
be why you're the Hand of the King."
"You ... you are no ... no son of mine."
"Now that's where you're wrong, Father. Why, I believe I'm you writ small. Do
me a kindness now, and die quickly. I have a ship to catch."
For once, his father did what Tyrion asked him. The proof was the sudden
stench, as his bowels loosened in the moment of death. Well, he was in the
right place for it, Tyrion thought. But the stink that filled the privy gave
ample evidence that the oft-repeated jape about his father was just another
lie.
Lord Tywin Lannister did not, in the end, sh!t gold."
I wouldn't be surprised if this line doesn't still get thrown out sometime down the road.

I think if you disliked that finale you will not like the rest of the series. That was the absolute climax of the entire series so far, sh1t starts to get more and more convoluted and weird from here on out, though I think the show will consolidate some storylines and get rid of some(like the whole "Where do whores go?" thing, even though I really think that wasn't going anywhere, was just a lasting reminder for us in the books).

They did things drastically differently, but, as I recall, all the storylines that are COVERED are pretty much how they ended up in the books at this point, and I applaud the show-runners for that. An exception is the whole Jaime-Tyrion dynamic, but I don't really mind how they did that.

Other than the cheesy effects on the skeletal-walkers, I thought the finale was very, very well done and awesome. Brienne vs. The Hound was probably the best one on one fight we've seen, even though realistically The Hound would have destroyed her.

And, yes, Dany's story-line sucks. I think you were warned about this, she is focking up and continues to fock up.

I have read that the cheesy skeletons were a wink/nod tribute to the original Jason and the Argonauts.

 fock the only true thing I said in that whole post was something minor that the show is deleting anyway (regarding Lady Stoneheart being an actual character ) . Relax -- if you read the books like you say you would of known it was all Bulshit

Dammit I should of let the charade go on further - I could of had every geek on this bored at my front door with torches and pitch forks. :wall:

There more than a little truth to what you posted and you know it.

I've yet to read anywhere they are skipping the Lady Stoneheart angle. And the sh!t you posted about Jon Snow... just because it happens differently, doesn't make it any less of a spoiler.

You know what you did. I'm not gong to make any more comment on it.

Just delete it, you a$$hole.

I read online when people were pissed she never made an appearance on the last episode that they were just taking it out as there was too much to tell and they wern't going to waste screen time on the angle. Other than Yes there is a cliff hanger at the end of book 5 where we don't know if Snow is killed or not but it happens nothing like I said.................

fine I will delete  no fun

And, seriously, what the fock was wrong with my post on the finale? I am just giving perspective on the show as a whole. The only thing I mentioned that is even close to a spoiler is the "Where do whores go?" thing, which is not going to be in the show since they combined Shae with Tysha.

You see, there was another wh0re Tyrion married when he was 13 named Tysha, and it was supposedly a set-up from Jaime who wanted to get him laid, and as punishment for marrying a wh0re, Tywin paid her so all his guardsmen would bang her in front of him and for Tyrion to bang her last. Tyrion has never forgotten about her and there is a lot of personal conflict with this incident from his inner thoughts in the books. I'll even put what is NOT going to happen in the show but happened in the books in spoilers despite the fact that, again, the show is not going to cover it, just in case you non-book readers wanted to know, it's actually really interesting...

When Jaime goes to release Tyrion from the black cells, Jaime said he is repaying a debt since Lannisters always pay their debts. This is when Jaime admits that what happened with Tysha was NOT a set up, and she was not a and everything that happened with her was real. Tywin made Jaime make up that story, because Tywin knew it would besmirch the family name if his son married a simpleton. So, basically Tywin made all his guards rape an innocent girl Tyrion loved just to teach Tyrion a lesson on marrying below your family name. Tyrion slaps Jaime and asks if Jaime can fight with his left hand, and says something like "A cripple vs. a dwarf, if we were to ever meet again it would be a interesting fight". That's when he goes to Tywin's room and whatnot, for vengeance for what he did to Tysha, but in the show they made it for what he did to Shae.

But seriously, before I read the books I liked when book readers in this thread would give their insight on the books and the show, and they were able to help keep up with the characters and storylines. I really don't get the hate with the extra book prospective, it helps in keeping up with the show and gives the interesting dynamic of how the show-runners are diverging from the books. For example, they really, really spent the whole series pumping up Tyrion and Shae's relationship just for what happened in the finale, whereas in the books their relationship wasn't nearly as deep because we had the whole Tysha storyline.

Can't we just agree to put spoiler tags on anything that might be questionable?

Seriously, I don't see what's so hard about that. :dunno:
